Izzy gave a joking scoff with a light chuckle and eye roll, as if Mateo’s refusal to carry her was actually insulting. “Well. See if I ever do anything for you again.” It was true, though. Izzy had seen the changing of the guards more time than she could count, and she was beginning to think she’d even be able to take part in it without missing a step. “One day, we should just be the guards, ourselves. Or make our own changing of the guards in here,” she said with a little laugh. Thankfully, Izzy was fairly adept at holding her liquor- though Mateo’s taller frame gave him a slight advantage over her. “Fall down drunk sounds almost like a blessing.” She couldn’t remember the last time she’d let herself be that free. 

He lets out a loud bark of laughter at Izzy's response, it was so typically her, yet so untrue as well. “You’re hanging out with me right now. So the joke is on you.” He pretends to contemplate for a moment. “I don’t think that they would appreciate it very much if we decided to try it for our selves, but I’d be down for it with enough booze in me.” It’s been a while since he’s gone out drinking with anyone, “Singing and being generally disorderly through the streets is something I could go for right now. But only after a day full of tacky touristy things. “Maybe we need a rendition of the Mexican national anthem later?”

“What do you mean you don’t want to sightsee around London like tourists? It’s the best thing that there is.” Mateo stares confusedly at the person next to him. “We can get cheesy I heart London shirts.”

A little smile came over her lips as Mateo mentioned the Eye. That was one touristy thing Izzy had done with Desmond after the first wedding, and she thought of that night fondly now. Though most of that night had been spent finding the smaller draws of London and its people. “You know I’d never say no to a drink with you,” she chuckled. If there was one person she could drink freely with, it was Mateo. With anyone else she was too afraid she’d have too much and let something slip that would reveal her true identity. “Well that depends. Will you carry me part of the way if I get tired?”

“No. You can walk on your own feet. You have two that work absolutely fine.” He says with false authority and a smile. He swipes his card to get through the gate. “there is at least one thing we can check off of our to-do list. The changing of the guard at Buckingham. As magnificent as it is, we don’t have to so see something we see every day.” He shrugs. “You always say that, and you never change your mind when I get you fall down drunk.”

She followed readily, rather excited to get out of the stuffy and oversized castle. Nevertheless she chuckled at his excitement, all too ready to indulge him. “Alright, Mateo. Sounds like a plan.” She was excited to see the things Mateo wanted to visit, but she was most happy to see Mateo looking in seemingly better spirits. “Surprise me!” she exclaimed, knowing she had plenty of time in Londond to see everything she might want to see. “I’ll follow you to the ends of the Earth.”

“Alrighty. Let’s start with the eye then. The line can be a little long, but I can point out lots of places and plan the best way around the city so we can see everything and stop for drinks at the end probably. I imagine that you’ll need at least one at the end of all this. Listening to me blather on all day” He says heading for the underground station near the palace. “That could be dangerous, following me to the ends of the Earth.”

“On the first day I gotten here, I asked for those shirts and the best tea. So now I think I have almost the full experience. Just need a phone booth and the red bus to take me somewhere” Eloise said smiling

“Come on.” Mate says leveling her with a look. “Have you seen the crown jewels? Taken a ride on the london eye? You can’t say you’ve had the full experience until you have done those as well.”

Izzy chuckled as her brother expressed his approval, but she actually was rather excited to see the sights. She wanted to see all the sights in the world, go everywhere, and find every little nook and cranny of it and explore. “Well, I haven’t seen it, and feel like you’re about to tell me which one it is so I definitely can’t rob you of that joy, Tour Guide Mateo.”

He starts to lead her towards the exit. “Well I want to see your reaction to the actual thing, so no spoilers from me about it” Most people found is knowledge of history and fun facts boring, but he could always count on Izzy to at least humor him. Besides he was due for a total geek trip it had been a while. “Now was there anywhere specific you wanted to see that we should start at or are you just following my lead?”

“What?” Izzy said with an incredulous tone, a smile on her lips as she butted into the conversation her brother was having with another royal. “Who wouldn’t want to go do cheesy tourist things? Don’t worry, Matty. I’ll go with you. That’s what I’m here for,” she said with a little chuckle.

Mateo looks over and gives her a smile. “Now that’s what I’m talking about.” He slings an arm around her shoulders. “Have you ever seen the London bridge? I bet it’s not the one you think it is.” He asks, having looked up some stuff to jumpstart his memory of London. He was ready to go with fun facts.

“well, they do say opposites attract, don’t they? perhaps that’s true.” the prince shrugs his own shoulders. lockie had been doing his utmost not to care about romance or anything in regards to it, including other couples. he’d tell himself it was moronic, but there was a quiet, lost, hopeless romantic under all the cynic. his own smile falters as soon as the other does and he’s not entirely sure how he even feels about his own betrothal anymore. he’d been completely opposed to it, but now he just felt guilty that artem was lumbered with him. “it’s not fair to the youngest, the eighteen year olds…nineteen year olds. such a burden to wear at such a young age.” he’ll admit. “no chance at fun, not really. no chance at exploring or – being able to find out who they are. it’s insane, really.”

“I’ve heard that yeah.” He says nodding along. He thinks about Izzy and the choices she’s had to make. The sacrifices he’s made and will make for his country just to keep the peace between all the people. “They won’t even really get to experience college. They should change the minimum age to twenty three or something.”

“Jesus.” He shook his head, small grin on his face. “I don’t think I have ever heard of such a thing. However, it does sound rather funny… well, from an observers point. My parents would disown me if anything went wrong at my wedding– even the weather.” A chuckle passing his lips, “Was that actually true though? Did she spill a salad on you?”

“100% true.” Mateo nods. “A law had just been passed and at the time it was really unfavorable. It hadn’t been made public knowledge that there was going to be more laws passed that made it a really good thing. But at the moment a lot of people were upset about it. Georgie is from America, and she was in an exchange program at my college. Alfredo hadn’t told her about me being a prince yet, and when I met her I was discussing the merits of the law with him. Well she decides that she’s going to dump her entire salad, dressing and all, onto me because she couldn’t believe I supported the law. She also called me a tu cabeza de mierda, limo de lirio, disculpa excusa para un hombre de veinte años, which roughly translated to you fucking toe-headed, lily limbed, sorry excuse for a man.” He shrugs. “She bet me the law wouldn’t last a week. And here we are.”

He nods, glad that she’s willing to accept the help. “Of course. Just tell me the day and time and I’ll clear my schedule.” He gives her what he hopes is a reassuring smile. He kind of took a running leap of faith when he told her that he saw someone on a weekly basis. He holds his breath when she moves in closer to him, feeling for the first time that there isn’t a wall between them that he doesn’t know how to break through. “Good, because I don’t ever want to let you go.” He whispers back. This is the closest he’s ever come to telling her how he feels, not ready to open himself up completely and spill everything to her yet. He shuts his eyes while their foreheads are pressed together. Images of his sister's car crash pass through his head, reminding him of how close he came to losing Uma. “When I heard.” He clears his throat. “When I heard that you were in an accident, it was like I couldn’t breathe.”

Her eyes are still guilty as he says the words about her family. “They just needed a way out.” She speaks a little too softly, a little too full of desperation as she remembers what it was like before. But a soft hand goes to cover his own, and she tries to give him a little smile. “I know. Thank you, Matty.” She couldn’t help but feel that her guilt would only be growing in the next few months though. 

He gives her a reassuring smile. “I”m just being a good brother” he teases. “I have faith everything will be okay for you.” He says before taking a bite of his food. “Eat up, we should go to the bloody tower after this.” He says. “Some history of Henry the eighth will cheer you up.”

"Yeah, why not,” Mateo says with a shrug. “I’ve never been a big fan of it. But I don't see why you can’t.”
