rose.
Dropping the cigarette to the ground, the princess stepped on it with her heel. She had promised herself to stop smoking yet here she was, a packet always hidden away in her purse for times like this – Rose found herself in stressful situations quite often. Without noticing herself, she moved closer to Jakub, whether that be because she wanted to or because it was cold out, she didn’t know. “Of course I didn’t tell anybody! I’ve written letters to some but never sent them.” She admitted shyly, sighing. Rose was having doubts herself about running away with Jakub but she’d never admit it, instead she wrote a few letters to her best friends and her family about the situation. “I burned them, no one could trace them down but that doesn’t matter. Haven’t you be keeping up with the Red Queen? That bitch is realising royal secrets left, right and center.” The girl groaned, her blood boiling at that thought whoever was behind that whole thing. She has been apart of minor scandals before but nothing as big as this if it gets released. “Surely, maids could’ve overheard us. We can’t sweep it under the rug like it never happened, Jak.” At the slip of her tongue, Rose was already talking to him like the old times. Maybe that wasn’t such a bad thing, the two were better off as allies than enemies.
How easy it felt for him to fall back into his old ways when around Rose. In spite of the strains of their current situation, he’d always found that her company was comforting to him —something that was evident now in the way that he managed to gain an inch closer with every passing minute. Jakub prevented himself from reacting to the fact that she wrote letters, knowing that she meant no harm in it, and ultimately none of them were delivered. He would often stay silent until all the information was presented, but did worry at the mention of the Red Queen; something that he did not have all the information on yet. “I only know of the site, but not the scale of it.” He mentioned, speaking truthfully of his knowledge. Whilst he had been in the palace for some time, he was not for gossip or scandal -- which was ironic considering the plans that they had made. Still, the entire notion that somebody would find out, placed him on edge. “Kochanie.” He sighed, letting the name pass his lips ( almost out of habit. ) “Why would they hold on to such things till now? I know it cannot be forgotten so easily, though we mustn't let it dictate our lives.” Of course, that was easier said than done, but he wanted to try and put her mind at some ease. “If we do, then they win.”

klarisza.
Oszkar extended his hand to shake Jakubs hand, looking up at Klarisza briefly, confused at being called the infamous Prince of Hungary. “Pleased to meet you Jake, I’m Oszkar.” He smiled, copying the older prince and giving a small bow of his head. “This is Prince Jakub of Poland, he’s the man I’ll be marrying. We’ve spoken about you, and your love of animals. Did you know that he has four dogs.” She smiled down at him, explaining how the other had known of him already. Her smile faltered briefly as he mentioned their similar looks, it hadn’t been as pronounced when he was younger but as he grew so did the similarity. “You think? Well lucky you Oszkar.” She teased.
Jakub realised his words might have been confusing, but for some reason, he felt almost nervous about meeting Oszkar. There had been mention from the Polish ambassador in Hungary ( and even from the Princess herself ) about their closeness, so perhaps that had something to do with his anxiousness — his need to make things at least content. “Yes, I hear you have a new dog named Kutya. I’m sure he will be excited to be reunited with you.” He smiled, recalling the previous conversation. “Four Irish wolfhounds, who I am sure would like to meet you one day?” It came to his attention that there was a weakness in her smile, though he tried not to think on it. There could be many explanations, and the two did not know each other well enough for him to pry. “Indeed, you are certainly lucky to have your sister’s likening.” His comment genuine, but his appearance unmoved. “Have you been to the gardens yet? It is always good to get fresh air after a plane journey.”
klarisza.
“So, er, other than animals, what else do you enjoy?” She asked, wanting to learn more about him. Of course they were both pleasant to each other, Royals were taught basically from birth how to act pleasant in situations they would much rather not be, she wanted to be sure that they would get along.
“I’m afraid I’m rather boring.” He replied, offering a half-hearted laugh. Under usual circumstances, the prince wouldn’t be open with a complete stranger — though with Klarisza, he supposed they wouldn’t be strangers for long. “When I am not deal with national or diplomatic matters, I often play sports. Sort of imagined myself as a tennis pro, if I did not have a country to inherit.” He’d instantly regretted his last set of words, not wanting to sound foolish or even ungrateful. “Oh, and skiing, especially around Christmas. Have you ever tried?”
gareth.
“I am thirty and I think me and my metabolism are doing just fine.” Gareth grinned. “And besides if my metabolism does end up turning on me you’ll get to say you told me so.”
“I told you so... my favourite words to string into a sentence, and what’s better, I get to use them so often with you.” His smile growing into a grin. “Although, in your defence, I have not used them in awhile.”
mateo.
“Oh, absolutely not.” He says with a chuckle. “On their wedding day, she had to get up and tell an entire crowd of people about how when we met, she spilled her salad on me and then proceeded to insult me. I won the bet about the weather on the day of their wedding. They were married in Mexico and at the time Alfredos’ parents didn’t really approve of her yet.”
“Jesus.” He shook his head, small grin on his face. “I don’t think I have ever heard of such a thing. However, it does sound rather funny... well, from an observers point. My parents would disown me if anything went wrong at my wedding– even the weather.” A chuckle passing his lips, “Was that actually true though? Did she spill a salad on you?”

His presence at the summit now seemed like a mistake. Not that he could avoid his being there, but he wished that he had stayed away from the common areas — too many people from his past seemed to populate the palace, and caused him some unrest. Still, he was not expecting that particular individual to cross his path. It felt as if his heart had sunk into his stomach upon catching sight of her. After the accident, the two had not spoken ( not properly ) as their parents were keen to keep them apart. But, it did not stop him from feeling a great amount of guilt over what had happened. He wanted to avoid her; to walk away from the situation. The openness of the palace gardens did not deem it so, as his eyes met her’s from the short distance between them. He wasn’t going to be rude, instead slowly approaching her with a solemn look on his face. “Forgive me, if I knew you were here, I would have arranged a meeting.” He commented, just wanting to say something to avoid awkwardness. // @izzyadore
uma.
“Oh god, nope. No. Tonight is our night to not be formal.” She said at the fact that he called her princess Uma. She hated that title sometimes even if she did love her country so much. She always loved hugging Jakub because she knew how awkward he got around them and it was almost like she was teasing him in her own way. “Of course you’re the prettiest, with that pretty smile of yours and that handsome suit.” She said standing on her tippy toes before leaning into him and kissing him gently on the cheek. “Of course, I didn’t meet the designer of this dress, this dress was my mothers after all. She gave it to me specifically for this event even though I’m wearing all black at a party, but you know what, whatever black fits my aesthetic doesn’t it?” She asked giggling as she twirled in her dress around him before stumbling onto his side because she probably had a bit too much to drink. Pushing that thought aside she took yet another sip of her champagne as she watched the waiter walked by. “You think we’ll ever see these cute waiters again? You know one’s been eyeing me all night and he’s honestly kind of cute. Would it be a sin if I made out with the cute waiter? Maybe if I am drunk enough– I will.” She said with a shrug as she went off on a tangent. “Maybe tonight would be my chance to have my first kiss, who knows.” Her voice trailed off as she realized what she said to the other before wrapping her loosely around his neck. “Uh—- I mean. Let’s go slow dance, yeah?” She offered to change the subject as she smiled dreamily up at him.
These sorts of parties were not often hosted in palaces ( or at least in Jakub’s experience ) so he planned to attempt relaxing from his usually standoffish demeanour. “Then I shall try to be at ease, if only for you.” He responded, offering a small smile to her. There was already some modification in his stance upon hearing Uma’s words, with his shoulders lazing in the embrace that they shared, and his features softening. Jakub was not used to such affection, so when people approached him in such a manner, it could make him tense — yet when she taunted him on the matter, he would often find himself smiling. A smile that only grew when she placed a kiss on his cheek. “Well, the handsome suit you may tell people about, though I fear if others knew I smiled then it might damage my aesthetic at this summit.” A joke, that could be identified in his teasing tone. “Besides, I believe your aesthetic of black is perfect. Very fitting for such an occasion, don’t you think?” He questioned, arms wrapping around her to steady the stumble that she took - stopping prying eyes around them. He hummed for a moment, as if to ponder her question. “I’m not entirely sure on the procedure of this palace, though I believe people would have been brought in for such event. Who knows, it might be your lucky night... and he’d be just as lucky to have the honour.” He mentioned, half-smiling at her; his eyes glanced over to the dance floor, before shifting back to Uma. “Lets.”
mateo.
He shakes his head. “It’d be breaking the rules for me to put it on.” His eyes widen realizing what he was hinting at. “Oh. No. It’s the wife of my best friend from college. We bet on the gender. We’re always getting into bets.”
The prince retracted his offer, placing the item of clothing back on the arm of the sofa. “Fair. It does sound like you have got yourself into a rather funny bet there.” He added, placing a book ( that he was reading ) to the side. “Chrystus, thank goodness for that.” A chuckle escaping him, “I don’t think this summit needs anymore scandals. This the craziest bet?”

isaac.
“i don’t know about you but after my trip back home I feel good. really good. like i feel like i can do anything now.” he said babbling onto whoever was listening to him. he made amends to people that he has been holding onto for so long and it felt like it was a clean slate for him. like he could finally start over and do something else for himself. “but other than that, how have you been? i feel like i haven’t seen you in ages! we need to catch up.”
Jakub was only half-listening to the conversation as the two walked along the corridor. It did feel like it had been some time since he had seen Isaac, though with the madness of the summit, he had not noticed his absence — a fact that he felt guilty about. “Did you have a good trip? Going home is such a wonderful luxury.” He mentioned, glancing over to the other. Already he was trying to be more aware. “I cannot remember the last time that we saw each other, but in that time I have been as well as one can be in this setting. Are you happy to be back?”
gareth.
“I don’t know if it’s because I missed breakfast this morning and I’m starving, or what. But these are the best crisps I’ve had in years. You want one?”
“I’m edging far too close to thirty for such unhealthy habits. Perhaps you should do the same, metabolism is a fickle thing.” He teased, evident by the slight lift of his lips.
mateo.
“No, I lost a bet,” Mateo says clasping his hands, wanting to shove them into pockets that he doesn’t currently have. “The winner is pregnant, you do whatever she wants you to do.”
“Remind me to never get involved in your bets. Do you need this or is that not part of the bet?” Jakub laughed, holding out a hoody that was close-by. “Wait, the winner is pregnant?”
