“Well,” Maryam started, fully turning her body to face the prince. “Spain is beautiful, the weather is much different than here in England, though. It can get quite warm at times, it isn’t often we see frigid temperatures,” she said, just describing a bit that she could. “I suppose it has impacted my love for the outdoors. And what is France like?”
“Home,” he quipped, only half-serious, a quick, almost apologetic smile appearing on his face. “It is…refined – the French court is livelier,” he tilted his head to one side, lips quirking into a softer smile. “Though I am relieved to hear I am not the only one missing the sun, here. Springs are much warmer in France.” the wine more palatable, as well. “How has your love for the outdoors fared here, so far?”
She had got the inkling that maybe, just as she had, he wasn’t at his happiest here. Then again, most would’ve preferred to be home; it was welcoming and comforting at home, familiar. “It has been quite gloomy outside, not the nicest weather for a stroll in the gardens, or just around on the castle grounds. I’m just used to warmer conditions.”
