If you could rewrite Movie!Beverly how would you do it? (I genuinely adore Movie!Beverly but I respect if others dont)

It's kind of like asking how i'd improve a building someone built upside down, like, idk man- think we gotta start from square one.

I think i'd make her mom still alive. Nix the fact she got kidnapped. Give her back her slingshot. Don't have richie spread slut shaming rumors about her when she's not there. make her go in neibolt with the boys since she wanted to in the first place.

There's a lot i'd probably change, but it's not really anything about her personality that i'd want to fix (what little there is), maybe I'd make her angrier though, make her get pissed off more and call the boys out on their idiocy every now and then. There's gotta be a middle ground between "only girl is the psuedo mom" and "only girl is everyone's girlfriend".

I love them all very very much, my fav is def sonias since it's so cute. Don't stop making them!

The only critique I have of these is that Sonia's last name is wrong, it's Sonia Schmaltz, not Schwartz. It's easy to remember because it's the German word for animal fat and the Schmaltz are German immigrants that run a pig farm. It's also in reference to Sonia's affections towards Eddie as "Schmaltzy" is a phrase described as ,"referring to something excessively or artificially sentimental".

That's a small thing tho really, I do absolutely adore these.

Yeah i could see that, although Sonia's mom is way less terrible than Margaret White. Sonia's mom is just very cold and doesn't give her daughter much attention. She's never hit her daughter or anything, she's just strict.

it was another black co start (Sofia Bryant from IANOWT) not Chosen Jacobs. This was years ago but if my memory serves me right I’m pretty sure he deleted a lot of pictures with her. But I’m not sure if that was because of her actions. Honestly the whole cast screams fucking weird to me because they are still friends with JDG who is an abuser.

im gonna wrap this up about how Bev is written but it’s so clear that the writers/director/producers had their favorite characters and it was Richie and Bev. They have nearly as much screen time as Bill and more than any other side character. Richie at least showed some flaws in the movie and had some character development.

I’m glad that Lilly was not her mom because it would’ve just felt like she was a large part of the prequel narrative when she didn’t need to be. also it would’ve just proved that Richie and Bev are the favorites if both their parents were featured. And standing on this. There was no point in having her mom commit suicide. It was just so she can have sympathy points (I’m sorry was the fact that her dad was abusive and the whole town hated her not enough?)

Women/poc in the Andi muschietti IT verse only exists to be lore for other characters or weird half formed concepts of characters with no agency of their own. It is no secret as to why all three of the main characters in welcome to derry have a plot line that centers around men. Marge is important cause she's richie's mom and feels shitty about rich, lilly feels guilty over her dad and matty, and ronnie wants to save her dad and will, while the girls individual relationships with each other is largely toxic. Even the main villain, ingrid, doesn't have any identity outside of the men she centers her life around, Bob, Stanley, and Hank.

Ya know even though Bill is probably my least favorite of the losers, I really still do love him a lot.

He's such a sweet and caring guy, and he goes through so much insane trauma that pushes him to the limits of sanity much like Henry, but unlike Henry he never loses the spark that makes him kind. He's too self sacrificial, he'd die for his friends a million times over if it meant it'd ease their suffering just a little. He's head strong and teasing and he writes terrible endings and he doesn't like people to analyze his writing, but at the same time he's a wonder with words. He never quite heals from the pain of lying that day, but he's a work in progress and that's okay.

I don't think Bill gets enough appreciation, i mean yeah, people like bill, but they don't truly appreciate him enough.

Crazy unpopular opinion but I simply can’t stand how Beverly is written. She’s the definition of a Mary sue in the movie in the sense that she literally doesn’t have a flaw and everyone who dislikes her does not have a valid reason and is a shitty person. The only reason she’s a fan favorite is because she was written with no negative traits or actions.

also the actress has left a sour taste in my mouth ever since she refused to post about BLM and only posted a half ass support post after her black co star threatened to expose fellow cast members who didn’t post about it. The second half of the sentence is why I think she’s fucking weird.

Oh my god i feel so vindicated, i think the IT fandom tends to have this problem where they like characters who don't do anything or have much personality outside of like one thing and they get mad if you don't like them. It happened with bev, taniel, ronnie, ect. In fact i think none of the wtd kids get to actually have stories and personalities with agency except for maybe marge and will? this is an unpopular opinion but i don't even like rich all that much. I know, i know, you're not supposed to say that- but he feels like a character who was made with the intention of dying first so they had to "kindnessmaxx" his personality so he was as widely beloved as possible before he died. It's a very cynical view on the writing process, but when male characters get to have basically no flaws and female characters are the one who make all the horrible shitty decisions it makes me very mad.

Bev is such a mary sue in the movie, i would take book bev over her any day because even though book bev has the sewer scene and she is sexualized so much she gets to be her own character with agency. The sewer scene is gross but at least it was a sign of her own agency and sexual independence, instead of her getting her consent violated by a guy she's had no prior romantic interest in.

this is why 1990 bev will always be goated because she's not sexualized at all and she still kicks ass. She might be a little underwritten but i'll take it.

Final note, yeah that's fucking gross. Obviously black lives matter, and if you're hesitant to say it you're racist. I don't really trust any of the IT cast members these days, i mean i'd like to meet some of em one day but i try not to have parasocial relationships with celebrities.

If Chosen Jacobs was the black co star in question i would like to point out tho that he might be a little problematic too, considering he was in purple hearts, a pro us military conservative propaganda movie that happily boasted about killing Arabs. Like literally, one guy proclaims "let's kill some Arabs!" and everyone cheers and when the main love interest gets upset about this cause she's not white her boyfriend is like "yooo my friend didn't mean it like that". Chosen jacobs doesn't play any of these characters but i am side eyeing him for being in a pro us military movie.

Mike and Henry kinda give Romeo and Juliet because their families hate each other.

This is only tangentially related but i've thought about making a romeo and juliet with Richie and Connor as romeo an juliet- the bowers family are the capulaets and the toziers are the montagues, and henry is tybalt.

Mike and Henry are in theis weird spot where i definitely do not ship them romantically, but i do really love the idea of them being connected for sure.

I think one of the saddest head cannons i have for my wtd au is that the reason Clint bowers could so effectively manipulate lilly with her mental health issues and threats about JH was cause he did the exact same shit to butch all the time cause he's autistic.

Ya know shout out to Lilly and Butch, who were subjected to ablism their entire lives, and then proceeded to do the same crap to Henry because they didn't learn a god damn thing from it.

Sharon and Zachary headcanons from when they were in Highschool?

I'm not sure if you wanted individual head cannons or them dating, but i've already made seperate posts for sharon head cannons and zach head cannons so here's sharon and zach

-Out of all of the WTD couples, Sharon and Zach are certainly. they are. yeah.

-These two's whole thing both as individuals and as a couple is quite literally that they are a bogstandard generic wasp 1960's teenage couple with nothing that really stands out about them. The fact that they're both so generic is meant to contrast the fact that their two kids will eventually become uber important to Derry, as Bill is legit the main character and Georgie's death is the entire reason the story happens at all. Some people's families like Mike and the Bowers have always been important, but Bill is the first truly notable Denbrough ever, aside from, ya know, his brother that got his arm ripped off.

-And when I say they're not interesting I mean Zach and Sharon are both vaguely popular and do pretty much everything you'd expect a popular teenage couple to do

-They won dance king and queen one time

-Zach only liked Sharon cause she was pretty, no other reason. He thought she was hot and decided he'd like to take her out sometime, meanwhile Sharon only liked Zach cause he pretended to be interested in piano.

-They were fairly romantic and enjoyed being around each other, and you know what they stayed that way through the marriage. Zach and Sharon are neither cute or particularly abusive, they just kind of... are.

-They had sort of an opposites attract thing going on. Sharon is into grandma stuff like piano and opera, while Zach was always into stuff like Elvis and building radios.

-The fact that their relationship was pretty by the books and they had the normal nuclear family life is part of why Georgie's loss hurt so bad, it was the first every truly bad thing either of them had experienced in their personal lives.

-They did all the usual 50's dating things. Shared a milkshake, went to the sock hop, went up to makeout point.

-Alvin used to tease Zach that he was dating an old lady in much of the same way Richie used to tease stan that he acted 80

-Their relationship in my head is heavily based off of Tommy Ross and Sue Snells, as well as their respective characters- although Sue and Tommy are better people and a cuter couple than they ever were.

-They were voted cutest couple in year book, ewwwww.

-Alvin and Zach and Sharon lowkey got that dynamic where the gf watches her boyfriend with his bestfriend do dude shit together and feels weirdly left out.

-Eventually Sharon started demanding Zach spend more time with her over bumming around with Alvin and he folded immediately cause Alvin and Zach's friendship has always been pretty take it or leave it. Alvin hangs out with Zach because Zach is fun to hang out with and zach hangs out with alvin because he's funny, not like they have a bill and mike tier relationship going on.

-Sharon and Elfrida marsh used to actually be friends growing up because they were both red heads and their boyfriends were friends, they'd go on double dates all the time.

Unsure if this has been said before but one of my headcanons is that I truly believe Pennywise (like Maturin) was purposefully trying to push Henry in with certain kids in order to eventually go up against the Losers. But unlike Maturin, his motive was more: "how can I push this annoying ass kid completely over the edge so he works for me". All I can imagine is him genuinely getting geeked out (after trying everything possible to push Henry over the mental abyss that summer) seeing him interact with the notorious Patrick Hockstetter. I also believe that Patrick was potentially the back up option for Henry as he found his fridge the day the cycle started, and when Pennywise killed him he said "Hello and goodbye" as if he knew who he was. I just know that mf was RELIEVED knowing he didn't have to deal with the fucked up kid with no fear and a serious god complex. And also I'm genuinely curious on how Pennywise was sending Henry spiralling aside from talking to him through the moon. Any ideas??

Actually that's kind of one of the things i touch on in my WTD 15 au, that Pennywise brought Lilly and Butch together and constantly terrorized them both/influenced them in hopes Henry would have tons of mental issues. There's like a shit ton of lore about it i've got written out.

I think Penny probably wouldn't have tolerated Patrick in any universe considering the offense it took at Patrick thinking he was god. I don't think Patrick could be tamed like Henry was, cause Patrick would probably just think he made Pennywise and thus wouldn't be afraid like Henry was. Henry was basically born to be manipulated, Patrick wasn't.

As for the moon stuff, i think what happened is Pennywise just fucked up Henry's head so much he could talk to him anytime, like how the Losers had that connection with Maturin, Pennywise and Henry had a bit of connection to, probably stemming from when he saw the deadlights and got his hair turned white. I feel like that's the only sensible conclusion cause JH is in augusta and Penny can't leave Derry, so he couldn't actually be there and idk how he could have somehow projected onto the moon or something.
