“My sole possession is my passion, for no one can rob me of it. More fiery than love, it does not depend on another to blaze.” ― Jarod Kintz || for @allisonsghost
Val did not need to smile; she would have turned men’s heads in any court in the wide world.

More and more wildings were coming into the Night’s Watch and Stannis did not like that. There was no record of their numbers, no way of knowing if they had armies or if their threat was real and now there was another king beyond the wall, a princess and prince both providing a future for the free folk. “Would you speak to your own king in such a way, princess?”
“Not for as long as I am held prisoner in his name” Val knew Stannis had no sense of humor, making the joke may not have been the wisest of decisions but she had done her fair share of bowing to the Baratheon King and his family. She had bent the knee, she’d even agreed to marry a knight of his choosing many moons ago, she had shown her fealty in more ways than were expected of a Wildling. She had earned her previous words. However, the Wildling Princess had enough sense to not leave that as the only thing said. It took her a moment to reign herself in but once she had she was quick to follow it up with “I was unaware it was my king who had honoured me with his presence, forgive my earlier rudeness.” There, that might soothe any anger she had caused. It was a pain but a necessity to play nice with this King, even more so than usual. She had heard from Jon that Stannis was beginning to grow distrustful of the Wildlings, despite his original acceptance of them, and that worried her a great deal.
The path to her bed is strewn with ash and death. And yet is there not one man around this table who does not want her?
Her, and Winterfell, and my lord father’ s name. Instead he had chosen a black cloak and a wall of ice. Instead he had chosen honor. A bastard’ s sort of honor.

arianne had only ever heard stories of the wildling princess and with each tale and supposed account, she grew more and more curious about this princess. when she had asked one of the black brothers, they said she was not a princess. that was a name given to her but if she was related to the self-proclaimed king beyond the wall that made her royalty by her own account. just seeing her made her think that this princess certainly looked the part. she was beautiful. just as much as she was beautiful, arianne thought she would be dangerous as well.
“ perhaps. i had come to see you actually. i have heard so much about the wildling princess that i wanted to put a face to all the good things i have heard about you. i hope you will entertain me with a tale. “
Very few people ever came to see Val, that mostly being because she only played nice when she had to, so it was near impossible to hide the surprise on her face though she kept it contained to a simple eyebrow raise. She knew she was a novelty, a wildling princess in captivity, but she certainly didn’t expect people to dredge all the way to Castle Black just to see her, it wasn’t like she was a giant or some other creature that the southerners rarely saw. “Good things? Now that is a shock” her voice was laced with sarcasm, the people south of the wall were not known to have good things to say about the wildlings who lived beyond the wall. “I have no tales that would suit a southern flowers sensibilities.”

The Nights Watch was a horrid place, filled with rapists, murderers, and thieves. Men who’s honor had long left them and instead of facing the judgment of the seven, they turned to cowardice and pledged their lives to the watch. Tommen was different. He had no other choice in his young age when they were declared as bastards and yet Myrcella had thought he would be the one to bring honor to such a place.
“Family is very important to me,” Myrcella stated rather boldly as she pulled her cloak closer to her chest. “If my brother were anywhere else, I’d travel such distances but he is here and I did not think I needed the permission off someone who, like me, has no place among men like this.”
Family? Many of the men here claimed to have no family or at least no family that actually gave a shit about them after they were sent to the wall, it helped the wildling narrow down the options as to who exactly the girl was talking about before she actually turned her head to take the girl in. Val did not go out of her way to spend time with the crows but she had been at Castle Black for quite a period of time and unless she locked herself in her room all day and night it was impossible to keep from knowing little snippets here and there and of course there were always the few that stood out, her brother was one of them. Golden locks, tan skin, it wasn’t hard to tell that this was the Lannisters sister. “You don’t need my permission but Lord Crow might have some words ‘bout you bein’ here.” Val had heard a great deal about the Lannisters from the Lord Commander, from his words he had been about as fond of them as wildlings were to crows. “What makes you think I have no place among these men? Thought southerners considered all free folk murderers, rapists, and thieves.”

They are all convinced she is a princess. Val looked the part and rode as if she had been born on horseback. A warrior princess, he decided, not some willowy creature who sits up in a tower, brushing her hair and waiting for some knight to rescue her.

“Your men call Val a princess, but to the free folk she is only the sister of their king’s dead wife. If you force her to marry a man she does not want, she is like to slit his throat on their wedding night.” … They are all convinced she is a princess. Val looked the part and rode as if she had been born on horseback. A warrior princess, he decided, not some willowy creature who sits up in a tower, brushing her hair and waiting for some knight to rescue her. (A Dance with Dragons)

It was another cold and dreary day at Castle Black, the snow fell as usual and all who need not be outside were taking shelter within the castle's walls. There was one however who braved the cold, a woman in a bearskin cloak who seemed neither bothered nor eager to get inside. She was a sight that the men of the nights watch had long since become accustomed to, one many of them enjoyed as a matter of fact. Val, the Wildling Princess. It was a well-known fact that Val hated to be idle, she didn’t like to be huddled up inside all day and if she got bored well...gods help them all. Despite her having lived at Castle Black for many years she had still not grown fond of the Crows that surrounded her day in and day out, when she got bored she would often take to fighting them under the guise of ‘training’ and very few escaped without injury. It was perhaps for that very reason that all the trainees below breathed a silent sigh of relief as they saw someone approach her. Val, however, was less pleased. She had become accustomed to having to deal with the southerners on behalf of her people but that did not mean that she enjoyed it any more than when she had first bent the knee to Selyse Baratheon. She didn’t bother to turn around to address them “Whatever you are here for must be very important to bring you this far north” It was only a little patronizing, that was something Lord Crow had requested she work on when dealing with the people south of the wall.

Full name: Val Years of age: 34 Title / Rank: Princess Face claim: Alyssa Sutherland
Biography
Val is a wildling and sister to Dalla. When she was young, her parents had passed away and so she was raised by her sister, Dalla. The two grew up close to each other and had an extremely close relationship with each and always encouraged each other. When Dalla met and wed Mance Rayder, Val was happy for the two of them and wished them to have a good and long marriage. When Mance became King of the Free Folk, she and her sister were often asked for counsel by Mance which made Val being called the Wildling Princess because of her sister’s connection to Mance Rayder.
During War of Five Kings, the Wildling host where attacked in the battle of Castle Black. It was during this time that her sister, Dalla, was giving birth and so Val helped deliver the baby but had lost her sister in the process. When the Wildlings were defeated, Val was taken prisoner and was offered to Jon Snow in a marriage if he became Lord of Winterfell. She refused and so did Jon to her relief but the two did become friends after that. She is beautiful and is part of the reason why the men of the Seven Kingdoms call her a princess but the free folk just call her Dalla’s sister. After she watches “Mance Rayder” burn, Jon informs her of his plan to send Gilly and Sam away with her nephew in place of Gilly’s child. She agreed to this and did care for the baby that was pretending to be her nephew and gave the child the milk name, Monster. Before Monster was a year old he had died of an illness. She grieved for the child and wrote to Gilly to inform her what happened.
After the War, Val has been trying to rebuild the Free Folk and unite them all again. She has been working with Sigorn to help those that want to get into Westeros. After the attack on the Wall by the Others, Val met her real nephew and revealed to him his true name and that he should be the one to unite the Free Folk in the name of his father and she would help him and teach him the ways of the Free Folk.
