i primarily post about your turn to die on here, particularly my swap AU with protag ryoko: your turn, ryoko (ytr for short). i might be in the process of turning it into a full-fledged fic, so stay tuned! in the meantime, though, i am always, always open for chats and questions about it. also, if you want to make fan content for it, GO BUCKWILD. oh kugieā¦. iād like to avoid sharing much in terms of the story but iād feel bad if this ask went unanswered as a fellow kugiehead so. instead i will give you random tidbits/headcanons i have for her
ā¢ she got a guitar for her 16th birthday that she likes to play in her free time. in terms of music-related stuff i also see her being a shoegaze fan
ā¢ although ice cream is her favorite, much like kanna, kugie has a massive sweet tooth and would probably eat dessert for every meal if she could. i had this silly idea of her frequently getting candy cigarettes because then she can look like sheās smoking (cool) but without any lung damage from actually smoking (bad) and also gets a tasty treat out of it (yum)
ā¢ thereās nothing she hates more than being treated like a kid, or in her view, being looked down upon. for that reason she doesnāt really trust most adults unless they make the effort to treat her like an equal
ā¢ i think she would like collecting cute things, but be a little embarrassed about itā¦ i see her as the type to have a ton of plushes in her room
ā¢ i also think she would love experimenting with different fashion styles a lot, but feels held back for the most part because of the strictness of her schoolās dress code. in my mind her massive screw pin was somewhat of a test for how flashy she could get without getting in trouble for it (itās earned her some sideeyes, but nothing more than that), and she later got kanna her own hairclip so they could match
this probably isnāt the type of thing you wanted butā¦ā¦i hope itās still interesting ^^;
ytr questions: do you have any characters or scenes you're most excited to write? are there any parts of the au that have changed a lot since its inception, and if so, what? (though i'm aware that's probably something of a spoilery question lol.)
OH BOYā¦.. okay, short answers are yes and yes. i donāt really wanna give away too much in regards to the second question, but iāll try my best to answer anyways. as always, more in-depth stuff under the cut :P
for the characters iām most excited to write: listen. i try to remain unbiased. and i can say with honesty in my heart that i do truly love all twelve of the main characters, and have at least a general appreciation for the entire cast. that said. i would be a liar if i didnāt admit itās fuckin tealblings world dude i do it all for them they are some kind of virus in my brain. ok actually sidenote tangent i know i was the creator of this terminology but i feel like i need to formally apologize because lowkey i hate the name ātealblings.ā i think we as a fandom collectively need to calm down with using the -blings suffix for like, every dynamic. like, greenblings was charming in its own right just because it was the first to do the name scheme but when i look back on shit i said like tealblings and LIMEBLINGS god forbid iām just likeā¦ā¦this is so sillyā¦.i just donāt have anything better to call them. anyways yeah those two are so fucked upppp that planning or writing for either of them feels like exercising an evil evil limb in my body and itās awesome. for sou specifically i made the deliberate choice to put his POV in second person bc iāve always felt like second person POV has a certainā¦personal-ness? intimacy? to it that first and third donāt? at least for me it makes it very easy to get into the stream-of-consciousness vibe. and i was really intrigued by the idea of forcing the reader into his perspective in this way because i donāt think most people consider him to be a relatable character at all. just a bit of afternoon fun you know how it is ANYWAYS
for scenesā¦ can i say the entirety of chapter two (of the game, not of the fic)? because i love chapter two so much. of course 2-2 and the second main game will always be champions of the angst factory for me, but iām also excited to play around with 2-1 because i think the negotiations have the potential to make for some very ripe character interactions. there are also two specific sou scenes in 2-2 that iām just like. I Have To Get This Far So I Can Write Them. honestly the more i think about it the more i realize iām excited to write literally everything in this story thereās just so much of it š sorry this probably isnāt the level of specificity you were hoping for but itās trueee
there are definitely parts of the au that have changed as well! iād say that for the most part, iāve just expanded on many of the gaps that i left in story planning back when the au was originally conceived in 2023, becauseā¦.i wonāt lie it was kind of half-baked i was just really excited to share what i did have with the world. that said, though, i think mapleās character has changed a good bit since her first iterationā¦..so have the hinakos tbh. oh something to probably mention is that i retconned the hinakos being twins in this au. i think i already have a good amount of sibling bullshit drama going on and tbh when i really thought about it they appealed to me more in a different context whichā¦ā¦.i will eventually get into! i think kugie has also changed, more in terms of role in the story rather than actual character though. i also did some tweaking to some of the parameters for the overarching chapter 3 minigame, mostly because i find a good chunk of chapter 3 likely to be incredibly boring in a fic format š so iām hoping that if i lay it on thick enough with the character interactions and development that i donāt have to focus so much on the puzzles and obstructor games and whatnot. thereās probably some other stuff that iām not thinking of right now that will crop up eventually. maybe also importantly is i already have a general idea for the ending of the au which may or may not change assuming that 3-2 will come out before i get to writing it LMAO. weāll see!

you're the ryosara person to me so i'm telling you this because i think you might like it... in sara's minisode we see that bit of baby sara in kendo and also baby ryoko's silhouette. i don't think anybody has ever really pointed out that baby ryoko is wearing a ponytail and baby sara has her hair down... they swapped hairstyles!

Hey, I'm like totally normal about my interest in YTR and totally didn't binge read every post about it over like a day. Very normal here. š
But I've been kinda curious about this AU's Sei. Kai's mini episode wrecked me so hard that I haven't been able to look into the others yet. So I'm just generally interested (and also a sucker for fictional tragedy in a totally normal way).
I know Sei isn't around for long, but I'm curious about their attitude towards the Death Game and how they're trying to approach it. Do they get involved in the messy feelings between Kai and Sou? What does Sei plan to do with the Sage card and how do they react to Shin(I think?) being the keymaster?
I know this is a lot of questions for a sorta minor character, so you don't have to answer any/all or them. Just want to say at very least that I'm loving this AU and really intrigued by the characters and shifts/swaps in it!
iām sorry anon this has been sitting in my askbox for so longā¦ iāll try my best to answer some of this, but i donāt wanna give away too much cuz itās a seeeeeecret š¤« (well, an open secret, but iāve been starting to write ytr as an Actual Thing and donāt want to spoil the plot too hard. the plan was technically to get the first chapter out by christmas but itās kind of a monster in terms of length and iām starting to catch a cold soā¦..i donāt knowā¦ā¦but expect it eventuallyā¦.)
anyways, as usual, stuff under the cut cause i donāt wanna clog peopleās feed
1. ahhhhh, they have a lot of feelings about the death game for sure. theyāre honestly kind of spiteful about the whole thing because, as i thiiiiink iāve mentioned in a previous post, as the satou siblings were growing up gashu focused a lot of his training on kai specifically, which makes sei feel kind of like theyāre being pushed to the side and left to die. at the same time, they donāt really have much of an opinion on the death game itselfā theyāre an assassin and so theyāre used to killing people directly and not via card games??? so even though the organization reveres it as something holy they find it needlessly roundabout and donāt really give much of a shit about it. so theyāre kind of caught in this weird position where they feel like they have something to prove and want to survive because of that, but they arenāt really a huge fan of the premise of killing other people in that way.
how theyāre trying to approach it: survive. escape, hopefully. they donāt have much planned out beyond that. since theyāre not one of the higher-ups they arenāt privy to that many details about the game, so itās hard to plan for any specific strategy ahead of time.
2. hmmmmm, in terms of the āasunaro trio,ā as i like to call them, iād say the messy feelings on seiās end are mostly between them and kaiā they have a bit of a strained relationship due to being pitted against each other through childhood, so while thereās still definitely care there they donāt really talk much outside of work; sei is bitter about kaiās preferential treatment and kai doesnāt really approve of seiās compliance to asunaro and willingness to kill others.
sei and sou donāt really have as muchā sou was a lot closer to kai growing up whereas sei just kind of catalogued him under āreally annoying but i canāt do anything about it bc heās practically the organizationās nepo baby.ā they also donāt trust him in the slightest during the death game. donāt worry, though, there are definitely still someā¦ interesting interactions between them over the course of the story :)
3. all i can say is: stay tuned :)))) (maybe for a while. iām not kidding when i say that thereās some information about sei that doesnāt get revealed until near the very end of the story. they may be a āminorā character but their ass is haunting the narrative).
