When the brothers were looking for you, Yuki was at Purgatory Hall with Solomon, Simeon, and Luke. Solomon kept checking his D.D.D to see if there were any updates, Yuki sat down staring at their lap, and Simeon was trying to calm down an upset Luke.
"How come they're the ones looking for MC?!" He yelled, balling his tiny hands into fists. "They don't care about them!"
"Luke, you know that's not true," Simeon chided however it did nothing to quell the blonde's anger.
"Isn't it, Simeon?!" Luke just wasn't calming down. The situation just made him angrier the more he thought about it. Yuki tried their best to explain the situation to them that left them all in shock, but the angel child was the least surprised.
They truly were demons.
He took a deep breath to try and calm himself down. "They didn't even notice something was wrong with MC and now they're missing!" He exclaimed.
Solomon's D.D.D suddenly vibrated and he quickly checked to see who it was from. The other three waited and noticed the confused expression on Solomon's face.
"That was Barbatos," he told them. "He said that they think MC's in the human world..."
"How would MC even get to the human world?" Simeon asked the question that everyone was thinking, though it was a question that wouldn't get an answer.
"If- If MC's back home," Yuki spoke up, "Then they should be okay. They're probably with Lilith."
Simeon was visibly shocked at what the human had just said. "...Lilith?" He repeated the name almost as a whisper. He needed to relax. Lilith might also be a name for human girls. It couldn't be that Lilith, she had died long ago.
"Yes?" Yuki replied raising an eyebrow. "I heard MC talking to someone with that name, so I assumed it was a friend from back home," they explained. "Do you know her?"
Did he know her? Maybe. You suddenly missing and Lilith's name popping up again after about thousands of years, it didn't seem like a coincidence now that he thought about it. He forced his signature smile. "Maybe."
Simeon gave Solomon a look that seemed to be understood by the sorcerer since he left to go search through a few books. The angel then turned his attention back to Yuki.
"They wouldn't really like it if I tell you about her without their knowledge, but this situation seems more important."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I found a spell that lets the dead come back temporarily if they have a human host," Solomon told them. "Yuki was kind enough to let Lilith borrow them for a bit," he gestured to the student with his hand then looked at Lilith. "You only have about fifteen minutes."
Lilith nodded. "I think that's enough time," she said before looking at her brothers, Solomon leaving to give them some privacy. "I know what you're thinking so let me explain," she put one leg over the other trying to find a comfortable position on the couch she sat on.
"I've been with MC since the first day they came here. I've been attached to them since I knew they were coming." Lilith spoke. "I was actually the one who tasked them with fixing my mess."
"I could see and hear everything they did, but I couldn't touch anything. They were the only one I could actually speak to," there was a smile on her face at the fond memory. "Likewise they were the only ones who could speak to me."
"Why didn't they say anything about this?" Lucifer had folded his arms across his chest and his hands grip had tightened. You knew of their sister this whole time yet you kept it a secret? He'd have to keep calm though. There was no use getting angry at someone that wouldn't remember.
"I told them not to."
That was Lilith's response and she went on to elaborate further. "They were sent here to help you all, but I didn't want you using them as a stand-in for me."
"And you know, I used to hope that belief was baseless, that you wouldn't do something like that-," she trailed off. Her smile had been replaced with a frown. "But seeing as how easily you replaced them with someone else shows that my fear wasn't unfounded..."
"...Then do you know what happened with MC?" Satan's question had surprised her. "Why they suddenly lost their memories of us?" He was the only one that had it in him to ask. Lilith's disappointment hurt but not as much as the others. He never did get to know her outside of Lucifer's eyes after all.
"Yes," she answered a moment later. "Of course I do," the girl added. "I'm the one who did that after all."
One could hear a pin drop with the silence in the room. Lilith watched Satan's expression contort from one of shock to one of rage.
"You...," he growled lowly. "You're the one who did this?!" His voice raised considerably when he shouted at her. The way his arms shook with rage was enough for Mammon to hold him back. Satan wasn't calm enough to think rationally about the fact that the one he wanted to harm was long dead and they were borrowing an innocent vessel.
Mammon needed to protect Yuki as their current guardian and they got along well enough for him to think of them as a friend. And though she had died years ago, hearing his baby sister's voice after so long(even if she was upset with them) made her seem so alive. His big brother instincts kicked in, screaming not to let anyone hurt her even if it wasn't possible for her to get hurt anymore.
Plus Lilith's got to explain herself too.
"While yes, I am the one who wiped a part of MCs memories," Lilith began. "You were all the cause of it."
They knew. They knew they were the reason it happened, but to just get rid of your memories of them? She didn't even give them a chance to apologize to you.
"Then...," Asmodeus wondered. "Then if you did this, you can easily fix it, right?" He asked her. He was the only one that still smiled and was actually hopeful about the situation. "You can give their memories back and then we all can-"
"We all can what?" Lilith interrupted, raising an eyebrow. She wouldn't let him finish his sentence. "Reconcile? Pretend like it never even happened? All you have to do is apologize and MC will easily forgive you right?"
She scoffed when the smile on his face fell.
"Yes, because the person who was so distraught to the point where they were willing to forget you all ever existed would want to reconcile," she spoke sarcastically. "If you really believe that then you've truly become selfish, Asmodeus."
Selfish? Yeah, he was. He knew very well that he was selfish, someone who only thought of himself. Even when he thought he was thinking of you, it only seemed to benefit him...
Hearing her words caused Mammon's grip on Satan to loosen drastically to the point where the fourth born easily escaped. Though fortunately Satan had calmed down a decent amount by this point. "...Willing to? You said MC was willing to?" The second eldest's voice sounded so small and soft, nothing like "The Great Mammon" façade he always puts on.
"That's right," Lilith responded with a small nod. "I gave them the offer and they agreed to it." Lilith noticed how Mammon let out a shaky breath, trying to keep himself together. "Mammon, you and MC were close right?"
Were. She made sure to emphasize the word that represented the past.
"When they were still new to Devildom, MC always felt more comfortable around you than anyone else," she recounted. "They would tell me about how even if you were harsh, they knew you would never actually hurt them."
"Stop..."
"They felt so safe around you." Mammon's words had been ignored.
"Shut up..."
"It's unfortunate they were wrong."
"SHUT UP!" Mammon had snapped. Even with the situation, it still left everyone surprised since Mammon never really lost his patience. But the way Lilith kept going on...he just couldn't take it anymore.
Did you really feel that way about him even back then? Did you really put that much of your trust in him? He would have been over the moon hearing that, would have felt all warm inside.
But now he's left with a cold dread because you wouldn't feel that way about him anymore.
"Lilith...," Beel's voice sounded so hurt when he said her name. "Why?" He asked. "I know how it seemed, but MC's like family to us," he told her.
"We could have at least been given the chance to fix things," Belphie added. He never thought he would be upset with his sister like this, but he also never thought she would be the reason for your missing memories.
Lilith in turn stared at them both for a minute before letting out a small sigh. "Okay. If the two of you want to talk about family and second chances then fine."
She stood up from the couch and focused on the older twin. "Beel, since you mentioned it first let's start with family," and suddenly she smiled once more. "You said that MC was like family to you all, right? And you always want the best for your family, right?"
The girl continued after seeing him nod. "Well MC's also family to me too," she stated and put a hand on her chest. "I also want what's best for them."
"That's why I took them away from Devildom and from all of you," she explained. "You all weren't good for them anymore and neither was this place."
"You noticed, right?" Lilith asked. "How they haven't been eating properly, how tired they've become," the girl used her fingers to list them off.
"They were practically sick."
Beel didn't say anything. He didn't have to. The guilt in his eyes was very clear. He thinks of the times you've given your meals to him, wishing he hadn't just accepted.
He did show some concern, but never actually complained.
He'd never complain about food(unless it was made by Solomon), but maybe if he said something then they wouldn't be in this situation.
Then you might have felt better knowing they still cared.
"Hey Beel, you even saw MC in the human world too, right?" Lilith's abrupt question had brought him back to reality. "How did they look? Better, right?"
He nodded slowly. Of course that was the case. Of course you would be better in the human world.
Next she looked at Belphie, who narrowed his violet eyes at her. Ah, he was mad at her too. Lilith wasn't used to seeing him look at her like this, but then again she wasn't used to getting angry with her brothers either.
"Go on," Belphie demanded coldly. "Say what you need to say then give MC their memories back before time runs out."
Lilith raised her eyebrows and a small "huh" left her lips. She shook her head at him. "No, I'm not giving MC their memories back," she stated firmly. "Didn't you hear what I've told Asmodeus?"
"I know what you said to him," he replied lowly. "That doesn't change the fact that you should give them their memories back. We still haven't fixed things between them."
Lilith groaned. How many times did she have to repeat this before it got through their heads? "You can't fix things with them anymore!" She exclaimed. "It's over. They wanted to forget all of you. They don't want anything to do with you anymore."
Each of Lilith's words felt like stabs and Belphie didn't want to hear them. Everything would be okay and you would forgive them all, she just needed to stop being so stubborn.
"Belphie, let me ask you something," she spoke up. "Why are you fixated on the belief that you could make things right?" She wondered, but like with Asmo she didn't give him a chance to answer.
"Is it because you feel like they've already forgiven you for worse?"
"...That's-"
She interrupted Belphie again.
"Such as when you killed them?"
"LILITH!" Lucifer's voice boomed which caused everyone to look at him. He's never yelled at her before, never felt like he had to until now. She was digging at painful memories, something each of them wanted to forget, the seventh-born especially.
They didn't want to remember such a thing, so when you came back they wanted to pretend like it never happened. You had even forgiven Belphegor so they felt you shared the same sentiment as they did.
"That's enough," Lucifer warned. "All you've been doing is wasting time, getting upset with us over something we already regret," he stated. "As your older brother, I-"
"You're the worst of them all."
The way Lilith cut off his sentence had shocked everyone, it was even visible on Lucifer's face. Of course nobody expected her to say that to Lucifer. She was angry with all of them, but the majority of it was focused on him.
"Excuse me?"
"You heard me," she told him with narrowed eyes. "I gave MC to you, Lucifer. I was the so-called wind that flew their file to you." Her hands curled up into fists as she inhaled to catch her breath. "...I arranged it so they'd come help you all and what do you do?"
"You replace them with someone else!"
Her arms folded across her chest and she took a few steps towards Lucifer. The sound of Yuki's shoes echoed throughout the silent room. "And to think they even came back after their time here was over, after their job was done-"
She stopped walking and small smile appeared.
"All because they loved you all so much."
There was an apologetic look in her eyes but it wasn't directed towards them. The apologetic look was for you even though you wouldn't be able to see it. Perhaps a lot of her anger was actually just guilt she felt.
"And you know what you do, Lucifer?" It was a rhetorical question that needed no answer. "You berate them in front of the whole house, all because their grades weren't up to par," she stated and glared at her older brother once more.
"All because they weren't well," she added. "All because you made them feel that way."
Suddenly there was a light knock on the wall made everyone look to see Solomon had suddenly showed up again. "Lilith, your time's almost up," he pointed out.
She looked at him then nodded slowly a moment later. Without another word she walked back to the couch Yuki was originally sitting on, Solomon following her.
"Lilith, wait!"
Levi suddenly calling out to her only made Lilith give a small hum in acknowledgement before she sat down. "If this is about giving MC their memories back then forget it."
Levi flinched at how cold her tone was. All she would do is tell him the same exact thing she told the rest, but he at least wanted to try. "Isn't there something we could do?!" He blurted out. "Something that shows you we're serious about fixing things with MC."
He looked at his sister, eyes begging her to give an answer. However his shoulders slumped in dejection when she shook her head.
"Figure it out yourselves," was all she said before her eyes finally shut.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Ah Lucifer," Diavolo greeted. He'd been expecting the first born for awhile now. "I was wondering when you'd show up," he added with a small chuckle.
Lucifer had his arms folded across his chest and a hand on his arm tightened its grip slightly. "Diavolo," he greeted back. "I don't think I need to explain why I'm here."
The demon prince shook his head. "Of course not," he replied. "I know you're here to talk about MC." Diavolo already knew everything that happened between the brothers, their sister, and the human exchange students.
Lucifer nodded. "I'd hate to ask you for another favor Diavolo, but my brothers haven't been the same since my sister refused to give MC's memories back." He hasn't been the same either. Yuki was still around, so Lucifer needed to keep up with the exchange program but that was it really.
"And none of us are able to get close to them since they still kept our pacts," Lucifer explained. Diavolo only nodded in acknowledgement before he put his hand as a way to show Lucifer he didn't need to continue.
"And you want me to give their memories back," the prince stated. When Lucifer nodded, Diavolo sighed. "Well I could do that, but Lucifer-," he began. "Are you really sure you want that?"
Said male blinked a few times at the question, surprised that Diavolo would even ask such a thing. "Of course I do," he said still in disbelief. "Why wouldn't I want that?"
"Even if MC won't ever forgive you?"
When Diavolo's response to the avatar of pride's question caused his eyes to widen, he decided to continue. "You see, I knew you would come to me about this eventually so I had Barbatos check through the timelines," he told him. "Just to see the outcomes."
"I've checked through all the timelines that MC regains their memories," Barbatos suddenly spoke up after he appeared. "Not a single one of those timelines gives you your desired outcome."
"You're saying that-," Lucifer's sentence got cut off when the butler nodded.
"There isn't a single timeline where MC forgives you."
