anyway i was thinking about oscar today and honestly. what a dreamboat. can i be real. i forget he exists frequently (not unusual for my d.ocs) but every time i remember him i just melt i would put a ring on him in a heartbeat

i have like weird feelings about a lot of my android ocs because of the current technological and political climate. lol. and his storyline is particularly effected by this so i don’t work with him very much but he’s just so lovely. ohhhhh i can’t stop thinking about the iwrhf kids when they are still kids it makes me so emotional. the world is so lighthearted by design but only on the surface. much like most OI settings the point is that it’s only addressed in elementary ways… which i know sounds like a copout but i swear i have plenty of settings that really get into it it’s just this one is a genre that deliberately doesnt. Anyway

Anyway. the point is that it’s not addressed in depth and none of them are unable to function but they’ve still been through way too much for kids to go through. rita and lulen spend so much time defending their house’s right to even go on existing, they have to be perfect at all times. jorah and florencia’s respective self esteems are largely nonexistent, being commoners at a school for nobles is technically a privilege and gives you many opportunities you wouldn’t have had, but it’s so shit for your sense of self to be surrounded by assholes who believe in like the divine right of kings or whatever.

don’t even get me started on al. i love that man and would probably ship MYSELF with him on my sideblog and maybe someday i will. but his childhood and place in the world is so fucked. he seems luckier than many others and in ways he is. But imagine being seen as an avatar of an unspeaking god from literally birth? that boy is so fuckt up lol
