I promise I'm nice. English is not my first language so please tell me if you don't understand something I said as things can come off the wrong way as I use translation a lot!
Didier and I like Ayrton, Lewis, Alain, Gilles, Jackie, and François.
I'm okay with interacting with anyone from any community as long as you're not a fully nsfw ♥️
But if you are a "spirit wife" of any kind (not just talking about towards Didier) and you think they belong to you and have a "he's mine and we're soulmates" attitude, please DNI because that makes me uncomfortable. Already have one of you blocked.
when didier died his girlfriend was pregnant with his twin sons, who she named didier and gilles in honour of their father and his teammate/rival/friend. gilles pironi became an engineer who was hired by the mercedes f1 team in 2014
Gilles Pironi sounds like a name out of a mpreg fanfic (not to rpf on main lmao)
Also that's fucking devastating and like, so surreal. I'm never sure about how *close* they were, because he seem pretty close but then they weren't teammates for that long.
Genuine question have you ever struggled with parasocial feelings when reading about these drivers. I personally have and it's difficult to address tbh.
Definitely when you read so much about these drivers you get to know them so well and you definitely form an attachment. When I first started out in the classic f1 scene all I was interested in was Niki Lauda, all I read about was Niki Lauda, I had a fanaccount and interacted with his sons like I felt incredibly close. It can be difficult to deal with when you feel such an attachment.
The main thing is to try and keep it healthy and just try to remember that you don't know everything about the driver and that's okay. Sadly in most of our cases we'll never meet the drivers as they have already passed away and that can be difficult to deal with as you really wish you could have just met them talked to them but its important to remember that they are no longer here and no matter how much you read about them it still might not be 100% accurate to who they were. It can be a struggle but it's best to not let it consume you either and if you feel like it is maybe you need a step back. With Niki I started focusing on other drivers and because there is such a vast range I learn about lots and lots of different ones rather than solely focusing on one person all the time.
Overall it's normal to read lots about a driver and certainly feel a connection with them because you relate to them and that you know lots - but if its gets to a point that you think you are too obsessed or concerned about it, it's okay to step back, focus on something else and just remind yourself about about the boundaries ❤️
I know this sounds parasocial, but I'm so obsessed with the lives of some drivers, even outside racing. A lot of them have stories great for movies or books, there's too much going on, and if you add the racing, it's more interesting.
