Her coffee cup dropped from her hands and fell to the sidewalk as she looked at Torunn and the two moved forwards almost as one. Kitty was used to weird things happening - and things falling from the sky? That actually happened A LOT.
But this wasn’t a good place for anything to fall. People were only just starting to come around and if this was a new invasion or anything like that then there would be no hope for the people of this earth. They couldn’t survive anything like that.
As the dust settled, Kitty tensed and prepared herself. She fought that FLIGHT instinct and remained in case she had to fight. Quickly her eyes scanned the scene. Most bystanders had fled, and only the figure in the smoke remained. When her eyes adjusted she almost gasped.
“What the flark?” she muttered then held out a hand to Torunn to get her to stay and remain calm. “I know–” No. She DIDN’T know this Carol, but she knew the Carol Danvers on her Earth pretty well. “That’s Captain Marvel,” she whispered quickly and confidently. Well she HOPED it was Carol. And she sure had a way of making a dramatic entrance just like the Carol Danvers she knew.
Kitty rushed forwards then stopped a few feet away. “Hey! Hey, you alright?” she said, eyes scanning over the female. “That was quite the land. Pretty grand entrance, you got everyone’s attention. But that had to hurt. You okay?” She glanced at Torunn then back to Carol. “I’m Kitty, Kitty Pryde. Member of the X-Men - well, sort of. I’m not really a member of this X-Men, there’s sort of a–”
Yeah, she was babbling.
“What happened?” She asked.
Carol’s eyes scan the world around her. She heard people panicking and breathed in dust all around her. The woman wasted no time and stood up slowly, with such strength that it was as if the fall didn’t hurt her at all. Though it did hurt, she had to be ready for anything. Carol heard footsteps behind her, she gradually turns around to face the two women approaching her. Carol narrowed her eyes slightly at them, ready for an attack if there would be one.
The women looked powerful themselves. One had lovely long blonde hair and fierce eyes that reminded Carol of the most frightening storms, the kind that amaze an you. The other was more soft, with light brown hair, and eyes that could see right through you. It was the soft one who introduced herself quickly, trying to avoid an attack.
“Captain Marvel.” She replied, her head was a bit dazed from the sudden fall. X-men? She wasn’t quite sure who that was. But judging by how this Kitty was calm there must be nothing to worry about. How did she land on Earth? The skrulls…
Carol tensed and quickly looked up at the sky. “Nice meeting you ladies but I need to go.” She immediately tried to gain up all her energy. But there was already so much lost from being pulled from her universe. Energy glowed around her but not enough to make her spark brighter than the sun as it always did. She knew she had to rest and work up her energy but the Skrulls needed her. Carol strained herself, taking deep breaths and holding her head for a moment. “I need to go. There was dust. They turned to dust. I have to go!” She tried again, blasting hersef into the air for a few seconds with her remaining energy then falling to the ground. She took deep breaths. Even if she couldn’t muster up her energy she looked fierce while trying.
Torunn looked over at Kitty, assessing how the other was moving. She’d know Kitty for some months now. The brunette had helped her adjust to this new world since the pair were going through exactly the same things. She had seen enough to know Kitty was a skilled warrior and her judgement was usually quite good. So for now Torunn would hold back and not charge blindly into attacking the newcomer.
Besides... Captain Marvel? The name rang a bell.
When the blonde moved about Torunn tensed again, silently watching and trying to work out if this stranger was friend or foe. Torunn eventually began to lean slightly towards friend more than foe....
When this Captain Marvel began to speak of people turning to dust, Torunn blinked and looked over at Kitty. That had happened FIVE YEARS AGO, hadn’t it? Neither Kitty nor Torunn had been there for it happening but they knew about it from what the survivors had told them. Had this only just happened to the female?
Torunn was about to comment when the female tried to fly away and failed. She stepped forwards and offered her hand to the female who had fallen to the ground. “We know,” she remarked, as softly as an Asgardian could. “Many turned to dust. It happened everywhere. From what planet have you come from?”
As far as Torunn was aware only THIS UNIVERSE had been affected by Thanos - if this woman was speaking of people turning to dust then it made sense she was from here, and if she could fly and come from space then it also only made sense she was from another planet. Not Asgard though.....
“You’re alright, rest for a moment. Are you sure you’re alright?” A warrior at heart, it still hurt Torunn to see someone in pain. And if the dusting was still fresh for this woman then Torunn didn’t want to put pressure on her or make the situation worse. “You’re on Earth,” she then added, hoping she was helpful and flashing a bright smile.
