“I think you look like a dork.”
“AND I THINK your body is too wide for your small head.”
“Is this necessary? I said I wanted to talk to you, not get on a rolling metal death trap.”
“NOT AT ALL. Alright. What do you want to talk about?”
“Not high, Kris…” Nika smiled before she shifted her position and went to lay on her brother’s arm like she used to do when they were kids. “Your stylist, what’s her name again, that cute blonde? She helped me the other day. I have to say I do like her style.”
KRIS AVOIDED HIS sister’s gaze and started into the clear blue sky. He didn’t want to talk about his stylist, also known as his soulmate right now. But it seems like this talk will go there anytime soon. “Her name’s Charlotte. And yes, she does have a sense in fashion.”
Charlotte was giggling along, her eyes twinkling with mischief. This thing between them might work out after all. They were getting along, that was a great start in her book. She took note of how adorably he was smiling and her heart skipped a beat, color spreading across her cheeks. The stylist released a gasp and squirmed about when the prince did unto her what she did to him. “Kris! Stop! Please…” She chuckled still wiggling around trying to get away from his relentless tickling.
THE PRINCE WAS completely aware with what he was doing. Apparently, he liked the way her face beamed when he tickled her endlessly. He wanted to stop but his fingers couldn’t seem to take off her sides. Seeing her lips stretch sent butterflies fluttering in his stomach. His heart was beating wildly and that was the only moment when he stopped. If he went on with it, he knew what will happen next. “Okay, alright. I stopped.” Kris chuckled nervously, pulling away from her.
“I already told you that I would. Stop saying otherwise.” Charlotte rolled her eyes. She didn’t understand why Kristijan felt the need to argue the point. She was allowed to find him handsome. Sure, he wasn’t always the nicest guy on earth, but he wasn’t terrible to her now. He was even laughing and smiling, which she found to be adorable. “—You’re definitely just poking fun at me now.” She glared at him, her elbow landing on his side before she turned to face him and her fingers went straight to his sides, tickling him. “Tell me I’m adorable.” She demanded, a laugh leaving her lips. “Say it, Kristijan. Or I won’t stop tickling you.”
THE TOUCH OF her fingertips against his sides not only brought a tickle to his skin, but also a bit tickle on his heart. As soon as he felt it, his heart started beating faster, like a real human alive. With feelings. His mouth couldn’t stop from laughing as he tried to avoid her fingertips. Quickly thinking, Kris grabbed her wrist and almost tackled her. His other hand made its way to her sides, tickling her endlessly. “Nope. Not going to happen.” He chuckled.
“That’s right?” The Italian princess beamed a the kind man before shaking his hand. “It’s nice to meet you, Kris…” She didn’t need to be told twice and quickly hopped on the motorcycle behind the man. “I’m ready.” She announced smiling from ear to ear.
AS SOON AS the Princess hopped on the motorcycle that he burrowed, he quickly went off and drove through the newly trimmed grass right behind the palace. The good thing was, she came with him willingly, trusting him with her life. “So are you always this nice?”
“I haven’t ridden on one in forever. The last time was while I was in America…” The Princess commented as she watched the other. His offer was tempting and she was incline to accept it. “Very well. I’ll go on that ride with you. Though I feel I should introduce myself first. Hi, I’m Alegra… Princess Alegra Rosetti. It’s nice to meet your acquaintance.”
FOR THE FIRST time after that talk he had with Charlotte, the Prince actually felt a little bit better. And, he’s a bit kinder to the people residing in the castle now. “Well you need to ride again now. You only live once.” He chuckled, taking her hand and shook it. “I’m Kristijan. Prince of Croatia, but you can call me Kris. Now, hop on.”
“I LOOK PRETTY BADASS with a motorcycle don’t you think?” Kris chuckled as he took off his helmet. “The best part is, this motorcycle isn’t even mine. Now what do you think of joining with me for a ride?”
“Hey, stranger,” Mila smiled impishly as she approached the familiar face. “Should’ve known you would be here.”
“SORRY. YOU ARE?” Kris asked the woman who just approached him. A brow raised upon her unexpected presence.
I think I would… Charlotte neglected to add. Despite the fact that her soulmate was prickly and an asshole, she found him cute, especially when he smiled. It made her insides turn into muse. “You shouldn’t say things like that. You’re handsome, and if given the chance, I would like to date you.” She responded to him with a kind smile. True, she had clearly contradicted herself, but in her defense, he was her soulmate.
It was already written in the stars that their fates should intertwine, and even if she didn’t love him now, she would grow to love him someday. The question that remained was if she was going to love him platonically or romantically? For the moment, she shook the questions aside and focused on the now. “—Don’t be a jerk. I’m cute, and I’m proud of my stature. You just don’t want to admit that you find me adorable.” She huffed playfully, a smile clearly featured along her lips.
AFTER A VERY long time, Kris smiled again. He even laughed and chuckled and it was sincere. He knew it’s a wrong feeling but he was glad to feel this. It reminded him of why he was still alive. Though his happiness now had consequences. He couldn’t let that happen. It will only break his soulmate’s heart. “Come on, no one would like to date me even though I’m handsome as hell.” He chuckled and clasped his hands together.
TRUTH BE TOLD, he found her cute. No, not cute. Adorable. She was right, he did find her adorable and he couldn’t admit it for the fact that he didn’t want her to assume that he could easily fall for her. “Forgive me for being a jerk but no, don’t be proud of it. No one would like to marry a midget.” He teased, poking her sides.
Charlotte’s brows were still knitted together in a frown when the prince addressed her. She couldn’t help it. This was a serious matter, and she couldn’t stop herself from frowning. She’d only realized what she was doing when Kristijan pointed it out. “Don’t piss me off and I won’t be so scary.” She said in retort. Despite that, she smiled for the man. It could be because he was laughing. Who knows at this point.
“You think we can do that?” Her eyes went wide with wonder. It wasn’t like he was repulsive. He was cute, handsome even, but they weren’t a match. The man was a prince and she was a stylist. How could they ever work. “I don’t mind being friends.” She smiled. “You could marry a princess and I’ll marry a regular guy…” Quipped the blonde woman. “You got yourself a deal!”
KRIS WAS ACTUALLY glad that Charlotte took the friend thing easily. In that way, she wouldn’t have to deal with an asshole and he wouldn’t deal with being a crippled lonely man. After all, he planned to never get married and make a girl to fall in-love with him. Since they had a deal, Kris figured that he won’t be pissing her off anytime soon. It depends on his mood of course. “I’ll try not to piss you off. I swear.” He chuckled, emphasizing the word try.
“YEAH, I THINK we could. It’ll be not that hard to fight against fate. I mean, would you really like to date an asshole like me? No, I don’t think so.” He smiled sadly, his gaze was fixed on the ground. “Oh, I’m fine not marrying anyone. You, on the other hand can marry a regular guy. Just make sure that he’s not too small like you. Your future children will suffer.”
“You know, if you lay still and just stare at the clouds, you can almost feel yourself move along with it.” Nika muttered gently to the newcomer who had recently joined her; her eyes following the clouds movement. “—It’s the best way to fall asleep…”
“I’M STARTING TO WONDER if my dear sister is high.” Kris chuckled and bent down to join his sister on the ground. His arms rest underneath his head.
“I just finished watching the season finale of Game of Thrones and I feel really devastated and excited. Do you want some pizza?”
“I HAVE NO knowledge of Game of Thrones but yes please, thank you, I’d like to have some pizza after learning about some strange things.”
Charlotte’s doe eyes zeroed in on the Prince’s features. She was trying to see if there were any signs of deception, and so far, he looked sincere. His apology came from his heart, and despite still being wary of the guy, she couldn’t stay mad at him. It was unlike her to be that way anyway. Nodding her head, she flashed him a small smile. “I forgive you.” The words came out easily. It was easy to forgive when anger was no longer a factor.
“I don’t know either…” She approached, her steps unhurried and small. Eventually, she found a seat next to him, where her gaze then shifted in his direction. “We need to figure out this thing we have.” The Stylist said after a moment of silence. “—I’m not a princess, and you’re a prince. We don’t match at all.”
IT WAS TRUE, they weren’t matched at all. He couldn’t possibly be with a stylist. Especially with a smol blond girl like her. Yet, he watched her as she moved next to him. His blue pair of hues pierced at the her. It was already such a huge relief when he forgave her. And a small talk would probably help. “Before we start this awful conversation of the truth about us, let me just say that one, thank you for forgiving me. Two, you’re scary when you get mad. Three, please stop with that serious look on your face. It doesn’t suit you.” He chuckled, clasped both of his hands as he locked his gaze with hers.
ALSO, SHE COULDN’T fall for him. Because if she will, then he better as well say goodbye to his sweet right leg. “Okay, so since we’re soulmates, you, and my sister, and Mac are the only exception. Guess... we could stay as friends?” Stupid son of a bitch. Friends don’t work out with a soulmate, you idiot. He’s cringing on the inside, deciding whether to punch himself now or later.
“Let’s see you make a better drink” she scoffed playfully
“NO WAY. TOO lazy.”
“Is that all you got?” Charlotte retorted as stubborn tears trickled down her cheeks. Her day had gone from bad to worse, and she could no longer hold in her emotions. This was too much, she shouldn’t have to put up with her mean liege, let alone be with him for the rest of her life. How was she going to do that? They couldn’t even get along when she was being nice to him. Her bottom lip jutted, blue hues sad as more tears dripped from her eyes.
“You were rude to me!” She screamed in his direction. “I don’t want to have to put up with it.” Charlotte brushed the tears away, her body shaking from her sobs. She had never been disrespected like this before, and she was a kind person. Why did he have to be so mean to her?
“—What do you think we should do?” She asked after a moment of silence. Her tears had dried, and she was somewhat calmer. The curly haired blonde no longer wanted to argue with the Prince. He looked sincere, and her heart was telling her to give him a chance to redeem himself. “Please, don’t scream at me again. I hate it, and I hate arguing with you, or anyone. I’m not a mean person, but you’re making me into one.” She said with a pout.
HONESTLY, KRISTIJAN WASN’T always the first person to make someone stay. Not unless he wanted to value something. He didn’t understand why but suddenly, his heart was weak and so does his knees. This was the reason why he refused to find his soulmate. He recalled what his ex-girlfriend did to him. She casted a spell on him, she took his ability to walk once the person he’ll truly love will tell him that she loves him. Kris was afraid that if it went that far, he’d be nothing but crippled and useless.
IT CAME TO his conclusion that he’ll never be truly happy. Still, he wanted to have that chance. It’s already right in his hands. It’s his decision whether to keep it or not. And right now, he decided to keep it. To face his fear. As he watched the tears that streamed down her face, he knew right away what to do. “I’m sorry.” He replied in the most sincere way.
“I DON’T KNOW, to be honest.” He muttered silently before he sat back down on the couch. “Though I promise that I won’t scream at you again.”
