Usualy Topher sort of felt a little embarrassed for existing, but it was worse when he inconvenienced other people, and he recognized Prissy as one of the diner waitresses that always seemed to be there, and he vaguely wondered how long she had worked that day.
“Yeah; my ankle is a little sore from the weird angle but honestly I’m just tired and wasn’t being as observant as I usually am; I’m just grateful that I didn’t knock you over.”
Prissy placed her hands into the pockets of her jacket, and gave a small grimace in sympathy at the mention of his ankle, before nodding, understanding the whole ‘tired’ aspect. She was practically dead on her feet right now, and she knew if she didn’t get home soon, she’d probably just collapse from exhaustion. She had always hated working such long shifts - they certainly did not agree with her body, that was for sure.
“Oh, well, you should definitely try and ice it when you get home, it might swell if you don’t and then it would hurt even worse,” she advised kindly, giving him another smile as he mentioned nearly knocking her over. “It’s okay, don’t worry about it. I think even I breeze could knock me over right now, if it’s strong enough. I just spent ten hours on my feet - and my body’s protesting.”
