He what?!
That’s what I said! [[ he’s staring right back at her.]] Something’s wrong.
[[ She nuzzles his neck. ]] …What’s wrong with Michael?
He got scratched up and it didn’t heal.
Oh Ray. [[ Tina moves in and kisses his cheek before taking him into a careful hug. ]] Something weird is going on.
[[ He leans against her gently ]] Yeah. Michael too, I think...
What? [[ She snaps out of her daze and stands up to grab his hand. ]]
Nothing’s gone right today- every time I try and manipulate something it just goes wrong-
What happened Ray? [[ She looks more set on knowing now that he’s avoiding the question ]]
[[ He looks a little sheepish, adjusting his ice pack ]] I think I ran out of luck..
Michael has a worried look plastered on his face when Ray clearly looks dazed. He wants to grab him out of their already wanting to make sure nothing bad is happening. It makes sense- the bad luck streak Ray is on is making Michael connect the dots. It doesn’t look good when he thinks about it.
Michael nods his head- “I see.” He grumbles a little bit as he moves to turn the stream of water off that’s coming down on Ray. He also moves to push the little soap holder out of the way and pulled Ray up into a sitting position. “Are you okay?” He asks slowly. “I mean clearly your not okay- but okay okay?” The worry is evident in his voice.
Ray lets Michael take care of things, just sitting in the stream of water until it’s taken care of and then laying back until Michael pulls him up. His shoulder throbs but he figures his head is mostly just a bump- he checks it with his hand and there’s no blood, at least. That’s one good thing in a sea of absolute misery.
“I think I’m fine.” He says, to Michael’s worry. “Just... bumped my head- my shoulder is killing me though.” He doesn’t know what that dull-then-sharp sort of pain is but he definitely doesn’t like it. “I landed on it all sideways.”
Yeah I… am not sure how. I can’t really remember. Also what- [[ She stares at the pack on his shoulder]] What happened?
[[ He looks more worried about her ]] I fell in the shower, it’s a long story. Okay, it’s a short story, but it feels long-
Michael can hear Ray shuffling around in the bathroom. The hot water hitting the tub. It’s an odd sense of security for him. He’s so used to the quiet and being alone and this past year… it’s only looked up for him. He enjoys that a lot- he can’t believe that he landed two of the best people he’d ever met in his entire life.
He thinks about this as two of his fingers mess with the cut on his arm. He pulls at it, willing it to heal- thinking hard about it. Wondering what exactly had made this happen. He has no idea why it wouldn’t heal. Sure it was something he was doing. Michael always healed instantly especially with something as little as a paper cut.
Just as he starts to bleed again he hears the crash in the bathroom- the squawk that Ray makes which sounds vaguely similar to Gavin’s noises. Michael is off the bed and into the bathroom in a matter of seconds. At first he’s frozen unsure what to do before he’s already pulling away the shower curtain and looking wide eyed at Ray. “What the hell happened?”
Ray’s stunned by the action of falling, head a little sore from where he knocked it against the tile of the shower wall and his shoulder is starting to throb when Michael pushes the door open. It’s only a second later that he has the shower curtain off of him, and Ray looks up at him dizzily and tries to process the question. What happened?
“I fell.” He answers. Ray sounds a little despondent, like a kid who’s had something go wrong that he never could have imagined happening. He lets his head fall back against the wall. “The stupid-” His foot kicks out at the anti-slip pad that’s starting to clog up the drain. “Thing came off and I fell and soap attacked me and the shower curtain-” He huffs, close to whining. His shoulder throbs again.
“Ow.”
[[ she follows him without much protest. ]] I know- that’s why it’s so strange. I just… couldn’t get a handle on it and suddenly I was.. in the future.
[[ He sits her down on the edge of the bed and readjusts the ice pack on his shoulder ]] So you jumped to now? You’ve been gone since this morning, at least.
I feels like I- Don’t have control anymore. And I went…forward Ray. [[ She’s moving slowly closer to him. ]]
[[ He wraps his arms around her shoulders and pulls her towards the bed ]] Forward? You never go forward...
Michael laughs at Ray’s words a little and ruffles his hair. He nods and graciously takes the peck on the lips before he pulling away and already slipping out of his shirt and pretty much flinging himself on the large bed in the middle of the hotel room. He was idly thankful now that they decided to splurge a little and get a nice room in a nice hotel because usually motels didn’t feel this good.
Michael laid back after slipping out of his shorts as well and looks at the cut he has across his arm. It’s small and only barely bled but it still hurts. It’s still not healed and Michael begins to worry a little. That isn’t good.
After that last motel they’d decided to splurge mostly in celebration- because Tina and Ray were still happy they’d finally convinced Michael to take them up on their offers and everything was looking up. The idle thought makes Ray wonder where Tina is and he thinks of texting her, but upon pulling his shattered phone out of his damp pocket, he figures he’ll be better off having Michael text her when they’re through.
Ray undressed and bundles his clothes up by the tub, then steps in and closes the curtain behind him. The water starts out too hot but he ignores it and turns the temperature to something mild and starts rinsing himself off. He just wants to not smell gross, but as soon as he’s decided he’s clean enough and reaches forwards to turn the water off, everything goes wrong.
One of the little pads on the floor of the tub meant to keep people from slipping must be lose, because it comes off entirely when Ray’s foot presses against it. He wobbles and falls, backwards, and in his grasping for balance his hand catches onto the shower curtain and to the little shelf of hotel soaps in the shower. Both come tumbling down with him, and Ray makes a half-screech of protest as he and the shower curtain come down, only to have his head pumbled by falling soap.
Oh Ray thank god- I- I don’t know I was trapped somewhere else.
Trapped- [[ He comes closer and sets a hand on her shoulder ]] Come sit down, you’re shaking-
Michael’s arms squeeze around Ray’s shoulders as they kiss- but he’s pulling away far to soon and Michael breaths out of his nose. He raises an eyebrow at Ray’s words- looking into the bathroom warily. “Okay- how about you shower and I’ll be out here waiting for you?” He smiles.
Rolling his eyes, Ray agrees to Michael’s idea with a little nod of his head. “Yeah fine- I just won’t even bother putting on clothes, I guess.”
With one more peck on the lips Ray moves off into the bathroom to get the shower going, planning on washing off the smell of street water at the very least. If Michael is that desperate for contact (and Ray isn’t complaining, honestly) then he’ll just rinse off and not bother with a full hair washing and soaping up until later.
Oh my fucking- Is this even the right time?
Tina? We were wondering where you’d been- What happened, are you alright?
[[ He wraps his arm around Ray’s shoulder and pull him into a hard kiss. ]]
Rays teeth click against Michael's so he loosens up a little, lifting his hands up to cling to Michael's shoulders and hold him still. He pulls away to breathe.
"Okay-" He says, breathily. "Alright- but I really need a shower."
You’re right. [[ Michael leans in for a kiss ]]
Of course I'm ri- [[ The kiss cuts him off and he makes a little sound of contentment.]]
This is what happens when you leave me pinning so long for it.
Excuse you, I'm the one that actually made this possible. [[ he pokes Michael in the chest ]]
