Had a comment about Rocket being naked in The Incredible Hulk #271 and he's actually not mostly, for better or worse.

Which begs the question, would having fur negate the need for padding or fabric protection beneath metal armour?

i think the metal would eventually rub away at his fur in places, maybe causing hotspots ꃋᴖꃋ but maybe the armor is padded on the inside?

@raccoonfallsharder I agree. Though I feel like hidden padding wouldn't stop any metal edges causing problems still? So if I can't see it, it's functionally as good as absent.

It's Rocket's 50th anniversary this year wooooooo 🥳

Today (July 13th) in 1976 was the first elusive sighting of Rocket Raccoon in Marvel Preview #7.

Created by writer Bill Mantlo and artist Keith Giffen, he was partly inspired by the Beatles song 'Rocky Raccoon' and came from the planet Hailailae or 'Witch-world'.

Helping Wayfinder, these were his first few panels ever.

This story didn't appear to continue and he wasn't seen again until 1982, revamped and no longer British in The Incredible Hulk #271.

Wal, Lylla, Blackjack O'Hare and Halfworld all first appear here.

He finally got his first solo series in 1985, drawn by Mike Mignola, the creator of Hellboy.

He's been through many iterations since and I hope many more in the future! (Starting with Rocket Rewind)

Rabbit hole time. Or raccoon den?

I love the detail in Guardians Volume 1 of Starlord calling Rocket 'Ranger Rick'.

I assumed it was a reference to him being a ranger in his original comic series BUT, Ranger Rick has been a raccoon mascot for the US National Wildlife Federation since 1959, where he first appeared in a book called 'The Adventures of Rick Racoon'

In 1967 they started a monthly magazine series called 'Ranger Rick's Nature Magazine'.

So maybe Quill's mum had some of these lying around the house

Today, Ranger Rick still serves as their 'beloved wildlife ambassador' helping to get kids and families into caring about nature, which is pretty neat.

In 2014, when the film came out they wrote a blog comparing Rick to Rocket and I love that this exists. Wholesome sh*t.

There's a chaotic timeline where Rocket actually has three kids called Uno, Duo and Trey. He seems like a supportive father, but don't point it out ok?
