This dude uploaded a compilation of him literally abusing his girlfriend and apparently it’s all “a joke”. She’s in on it too and defends it as such. (She is Sarah in the comments).
He shoves her into the dirt as they are walking, shoved her into a crowd of people in public and also threw her off a short ledge into some channel of water, smashed an egg on her face after she finished her makeup and other douchey things. The shoving is very rough and knocks her down to the ground each time. I wouldn’t recommend watching the video if you’re sensitive to this type of content.
My problem is it normalizes mistreatment and degradation of women. We see a woman being physically mistreated by her partner but if we label it as a joke and her being humiliated and belittled is the punchline and that makes it suddenly acceptable? What actual fucking garbage honestly. It contributes to a culture that says it’s okay for men to mistreat women and it’s okay for them to abuse us as long as it’s not actually serious and of course women should just tolerate all of these jokes so we aren’t considered some boring shrewd bitch who “can’t take a joke”.
This is the result of little girls being told “if he’s mean to you that means he likes you” their entire lives. Girls are constantly told that this is a sign of affection. A boy pushes you in the mud on the play ground as a child and “oh honey he must have a crush on you” a boy calls you names in middle school “oh he just doesn’t know how to show his feelings” a grown man pushes you in the fucking dirt “oh it’s just a joke” like really?
Thankfully an overwhelming amount of the response to this is disapproval and disgust. I really don’t care if they are having “fun” or trying to get Facebook likes and internet fame. It’s reprehensible and in absolute poor taste. I feel like it is trivializing and mocking victims of abuse by producing this content and turning domestic violence into some lame ass joke.
