Have you finished the new Britt Doc? You said you were throwing some stuff out as just Britt being "a cunt" and I wanted you to elaborate on that.
This response is going to be a bit rambly because I'm tired, so I'll try to be to the point where I can.
Honestly the Doc doesn't really add anything new to the 'discussion' other than adding more screenshots in the mix and making me look at another doc featuring a whole host of drama I knew nothing about and honestly am still struggling to understand a fair bit cause the doc leaves out some rather (in my opinion) important context for the situation between Creme and that server and what have you.
But I'm not commenting on that situation.
I will also state this isn't in defense of Britt, this is just me viewing the doc and the feelings I have about it as a third party reading it and the evidence shown. I'm being fair where I feel, but overall this is a very subjective topic.
I also want to make it clear: None of this negates the awareness that Britt has raised concerning Lily Orchard, Patricia Taxxon, Pocket Deer Belly, and people need to stop using it as a way to discredit the awareness she has raised on those fronts. You can find someone a cunt but agree they did something good, no one is required to be some Saint at all times and in a Drama Sphere we are all playing in the mud and no one is clean. Stop trying to moral grandstand that you are better then anyone else on this front.
For the Britt doc my main points are:
The doc has a MASSIVE Issue of ignoring the Larger Picture to Cherry Pick the smaller pictures out of context. This makes the doc as a whole very hard for me to take seriously in many respects.
I don't know if Britt actually knew anyone involved in the Creme Situation prior to commenting. I agree it's a situation that she probably shouldn't have gotten involved in and a fair bit of it read like people that just couldn't in the moment actually communicate what the issues were and it spiraled. I don't know enough about this situation to fully comment on it however.
NSFW doesn't mean porn, it just means mature content not suitable for all ages and can include a variety of topics from heavy violence, body horror, vulgarity, pornographic material, slurs, ect. Wikipedia even goes over this as it being an umbrella term to mean for content one would not want to be consuming in a public or professional setting. Almost the entire NSFW section of the doc I threw out because the writer of the doc was pedantic about terminology when it benefited them to try and label Britt as things earlier on, then decided to go NSFW = Porn when referencing gothic and non-sexual furry imagery on Britt's NSFW alt. Is some of the images weird and out there? Yeah, but if the writer of the doc is going to be pedantic about wording and definitions, I'm not going to give them grace when they are misusing a term to suit their narrative later on. Stay consistent or shut up.
The study doesn't say what you are claiming it does, you are cherry picking a quote out of context to make the claim it's saying something it doesn't. The study is about brain development from a chemical/biological standpoint, not a mental maturity standpoint
Also if you are easily triggered by sexuality, symbolic or implied, and furry art and decide to look at a NSFW blog then honestly that's on you. The blog was labeled NSFW and is hidden from searches, you knew what you were potentially going to look at before you hit the link you don't get to bitch about the tagging afterword.
Also I find it incredibly disgusting that during this section the writer decided to imply that Britt isn't a lesbian, or is pretending to be. The doc gives Britt a lot of shit on her wording in some areas towards transgender individuals but also has no problems sitting there and making the implication that she is either a zoophile or not a lesbian over a wolf-themed Dildo and some Monster Themed art. Which also tells me you don't spend very much time with Lesbians at all and I'm going to make the claim here that the person writing the doc doesn't realize just how homophobic that is or how often that is levied against lesbian women. I will give them more grace then they are giving anyone else in that they likely do not understand just how offensive and insensitive it is to sit there and claim that knowing full well they understand the implications considering they were using the same tactic against Britt.
Also I am going to suggest that the writer of the doc look up some studies considering symbology within women's literature with monsters and how much of it is often an allegory for feminine rage, survival, breaking free from patriarchal control, feminine sexuality and liberation, and more. It could just be that Britt is a furry with a thing for Werewolves, but gothic imagery using wolves as a stand-in for Feminine Rage and Feminine Sexual Liberation is a pretty common thing. I won't claim it's a misogyny thing to not know that Feminine Literature and Art tends to have this trend, but I will make the claim if you didn't even do a whiff of research before trying to imply a bunch of gothic-themed artists who use the symbolism as drawing zoophilia.
Britt's wording choices in some areas are very poor, I'll agree that some of it ("Genuine Trans" being a standout on this) is definitely not something she should have said or implied. That said she's not wrong for in the beginning being a bit doubtful that Lily Orchard was actually trans when Lily was actively using the Tara Callie alt to speculate if Britt would be attracted to her if she became a woman. It doesn't hold up in the here and now when Lily has transitioned, but I understand where the thought process came from all things considered. This was actually the one thing I actually felt had merit from Fennec's original doc: Britt showing doubt or calling it 'convenient' when someone transitioned or suddenly had a claim to a minority group when they started getting backlash.
The entire section about her dating and sleeping with a 15-16 year old when she was 18-19 still feels stupid. Should she have done it? No. Should she have talked about the other individual like that with Lily at the time? Also no. But trying to claim she's a pedophile over it feels rather disingenuous and cherry picking.
I don't like that the doc reams over Britt for how she talked to Lily concerning these topics then at the very end admits they are aware Britt was being groomed and manipulated by Lily Orchard. In a vaccum the behavior looks abhorrent but when you take in the context that at the same time Lily was actively manipulating Britt, something Lily has also done to others, towards Paraphilias and to get her own gratification out of it REALLY paints a dark picture on whether the person who wrote the doc actually believes Britt is a victim or if they were trying to discredit Britt being one. I agree that it's not right how Britt spoke, acted, or should have, but I can also look at the larger picture and understand the WHY she talked that way and give her the grace that she has matured since then and gotten help for it.
I don't think Britt is ableist I think she just kept using language that was more 'acceptable' in the 90's-00's and much like with Sai and the R-Slur just hasn't unpacked that and stopped. If you see it in the moment, call it out. It's not language that should be used but from personal experience if you are polite about pointing out it makes you uncomfortable she stops and apologizes.
I agree that Britt does have a tendency to focus quite harshly on transgender individuals. That's on her and she probably should reflect on that. Doesn't negate the awareness she raises about Lily, Patricia Taxxon, PDB, ect.
I'll say it before and I'll say it again: If you have a Twitter/X Account you don't have a leg to stand on by using Kiwifarms as a sign of someone being Transphobic. Does Kiwifarms have an issue with Transphobia? Yup. So does Tumblr, Twitter/X, Reddit, 4chan, ect. Some of those sites get the added bonus of being run by a literal Nazi (such as the case of Twitter/X). It's similar to the talking points about Ethical Consumption in a Capitalist Society.
Generally speaking there is a conversation to be had here about some of the behaviors, but at the end of the day it's really hard for me to take seriously when the docs are being used to try and completely discredit Britt's side as a victim of Lily Orchard and the doc only referencing that fact at the tail end as a footnote.
The problem I have with that is because by doing so, it completely ignores some very MASSIVE context for why and how Britt responds the way she does when the topic of Lily is used in the doc. You can't provide evidence that Britt is being transphobic towards Lily and claim she's transphobic about it and then 50 pages later reveal that pre-transition Lily was grooming and manipulating her. Because that paints Britt's stance and wording choices in a very different light when you factor that in.
Especially when part of the doc gives grace to someone else lashing out at the person they were victimized for, but Britt doing the same thing is suddenly demonized to hell and proof she's a terrible person.
The thing is, the doc does show Britt has some behavioral problems she should probably work on and see a licensed professional about. But it also shows the MASSIVE double standard some people have towards her.
I'm not defending or justifying her actions mind you, there are things she should work on but we aren't licensed professionals to do so and it's her responsibility to work on. But I will state that the doc shows a CLEAR bias that pops up when these topics come up that I think the people using it to harass or try and discredit Britt really need to step back and think about.
