Bucky followed beside him, close enough to feel the warmth that radiated off Steve as well as his shoulder that occasionally brushed against his every few steps. His eyes travelled around the area in awe, taking in everything from the simplest pleasures that go overlooked such as the warm breeze of air to things like the mom ushering her child to safety on the sidewalk. A smile was brought to his face, to go from an unlit almost prison-like place and only behold the peopleās blood you were spilling to this was enough to cause him to smile widely- a glisten in his eyes.Ā
He looked over at Steve who had already been staring, biting down on his lip in hopes to contain the smile that would surely split his face in half. God, it was unbelievable how much pure bliss he felt in this very moment. Maybe he hadnāt deserved it for all those years of constantly draining the life of so many people but that hadnāt crossed his mind right now. Bucky was only emotionally involved in the feel of Steveās hand grasping his protectively and the small gifts that life had been offering to him.Ā
His head snapped over to scan the place where Steve had been guiding him, casually cutting in front of him to open the door for his boyfriend with a small bow and murmuredĀ āafter you Rogers.ā
Steve blushed at Buckyās honestly a little ridiculous gesture but murmured a softĀ āThank you,ā before entering the shop. It was wide open and warm, the color of everything was so bright. This all just felt--right.Ā
He pulled out a chair for Bucky before seating himself across from him, wrapping his hand in his in the middle of the table. Steve had never felt so lucky in his entire life, than to be right here, right now, in this exact moment with the person he loved most in this world. If you had told him 90 years ago that he wouldāve ended up here, happy and in-love with Bucky, he wouldāve never believed you. But now, it was the only thing heād ever known.Ā
