You’re just not ready. At no point in this video when he says the next thing are you ready.
Today I saw a pic of a baby cowbird next 2 its nest "parent" and it was so much bigger!!!!! Which is the sort of thing that gets normal people upset about the injustice of nest parasitism but makes *me* worry if baby cowbirds get bird dysmorphia
This (from Cornell Labs via Merlin) is the pic I was looking at. It's just a little baby but it's so much bigger than its "parent"!!!! Do baby cowbirds feel isolated? Do they understand they're a different bird, or are they just a really bad sparrow?
hey, good news! ecologists have been studying this very thing! it seems young cowbirds have some kind of innate sense that leads them to sneak out of their foster nest at night to hang out in grasslands where they—more often than not—meet other cowbirds and learn more about what they really are.
Thanks I am going to cry so hard I throw up ;-;
I would give up one of my kidneys for a video
dear god please let our new baby octopus feel confident enough to move out of her corner hiding spot today while i’m on exhibits so i can see her properly for the first time amen
she stuck out a single arm before changing her mind and deciding the rest of the tank is too scary, far too scary by far she is scared
Impossible.
There's nowhere more protected than in the strong arms of an orc. He will keep you safe.
I want to know something regarding the pronunciation of the word "iron", and I'm only asking native speakers and those who've been living in an English speaking country since forever (as a child), but it's not quite their native language. The latter is my definition for "second language". And only that. If you went to school in an English speaking country for a couple of years (for example studying abroad), that doesn't count as a second language in this case, please press the last button then.
People tend to say that pronouncing the "r" in iron is incorrect, that a native speaker wouldn't pronounce it that way. So... Do you pronounce the "r" in iron? Do you add an "r" somewhere?
Which description comes close to your pronunciation of "iron"?
i-on (native speaker)
i-orn (native speaker)
i-ron (native speaker)
it changes all the time (native speaker)
i-on (second language)
i-orn (second language)
i-ron (second language)
Sina I STILL pronounce it VERY differently, it doesn't even come close to that!
button for everyone else
I just realised that I forgot to add the "It changes all the time" option for second language people, but I won't create this poll a third time. Second language speaker, if this should apply to you, vote the native speaker option

Please do things to strengthen your attention span. It stresses me out so much when people just accept their small attention spans and cater to them without any acknowledgment that they are making it worse by doing that.
There is a reason attention spans are worse now and it didn’t just happen by chance. Media and the internet designed it that way and we went with it because it was easier.
Some of us with ADHD and brain fog need to meet ourselves where we’re at and exercise our attention span by watching a two minute video instead of a one minute video. Some of us need to sit down and read a novel with our phones turned off.
Wherever you’re at, just realize that not doing things that feel hard will keep making your attention span worse.
