Ted was always full of surprises. It was one of the things she loved about him. He always kept her on their toes, no matter how many years went by. He was also loving and supportive. Not to mention the amazing father he was. Andy couldn’t help but to fall more and more in love with him every day. She was more than grateful for the life they had together. 

“I’m sure it will be.” She said as she leaned up to give him another kiss now that their daughter wasn’t watching them. “Depending on what it is, someone might get lucky later this evening.” She teased with a wink as she began to walk into the front room. In all honesty, Ted didn’t need to do anything to get lucky. That part of their life had never suffered. 

Andy grabbed a sweater for herself out of the closet and then took the ones that Ted was holding out of his hand. She shoved them in her bag that she had placed a charm on to let it hold way more than it looked like it should. “Let’s drive. I don’t want her to get sick.” It had only happened once after they had apparated with her, normally she handled it very well. But, just in case she didn’t want Ted’s day that he had planned for them to start out with their daughter being sick. She headed out of the door, “You should probably drive.” She said with a laugh. She wasn’t very great at it at all and the only time she really drove was times that they went out without Dora, for her safety.

One of Ted’s favourite things was to keep his wife on her toes. He never wanted to become a complacent couple. Changing things up was what made life so interesting. Admittedly, having a five year old kept things incredibly interesting for the parents, but sometimes days with a little less chaos were nice. Ted cherished all the moments that he had with his daughter and wife, no matter how chaotic they could be. 

Ted kissed his wife back warmly, smiling into it. “I’m glad we have the day together” he whispered. At his wife’s comment he grinned, “Oh really, well I’ll have to make sure it’s extra special than won’t I” Ted teased, giving her another kiss. He was fairly certain, that they would end up doing more later tonight anyways, but that didn’t mean that he wouldn’t do all her could to woo her in the mean time. 

At her request he nodded, “I think that’s probably best,” he agreed. He hardly wanted their day to start off with their daughter being sick. It usually didn’t effect her too badly, but last time had been a nightmare, and Ted really didn’t want to do that again. Ted laughed, grabbing their keys, “Yes, yes I should” he grinned. “Are you ready to go Nymphy?” he asked, kneeling down in front of his daughter. She smiled before nodding, “Yes,” she told him happily. “Then let’s go princess” he said, whisking her up in his arms. “If you get the lunches and stuff, I’ll get Dora in her car seat” Ted bargained. He headed out towards the car, setting his daughter in carefully, before buckling her up. Once Andy was in the passenger side, he started the car up. “Alright, on our way we go” he smiled.

Really, they knew each other that well. Somewhere along the line, they stopped becoming separate people and started being one with one another. When Andy was a child, this was something she was scared of, but with Ted she wasn’t afraid. She was happy, above everything else. “You are a wonderful teacher and I know the students, muggle or not, will love you.” She wasn’t just saying that because he was her husband. Ted truly did have a gift at reaching student’s minds and being able to teach them. It was something she admired so much about him. “Things have been good. Slow, but that is a good thing nowadays.” She laughed, “Bertram is good. He makes sure I have plenty of coffee and food to get me through the day.”

He couldn’t really pin point when it happened, but during their relationship they stopped being two people and instead became one. Ted grew up with parents that worked as a cohesive unit, instead of separately. As he got older, he could only hope to find a love like that, and he was forever thankful that he found that in Andromeda. At his wife’s words, he couldn’t help but smile, “You’re too sweet my love,” he replied. Ted knew his wife, she doesn’t say things for anyone’s benefit. Andy only said what she meant, and that was something he always admired about her. “I’m glad to hear that, nowadays slow seems like a rarity” he nodded. He smiled warmly, “Glad to hear it. We should have them around for dinner soon”

“I suppose that makes sense,” William conceded with a sigh. “I can’t really complain if it’s going to help, then, can I? I’ll just have to be really impressive.” He smiled briefly and ran a hand through his hair.

“If you can teach me to make all of these without something blowing up, you’ll be a better Potions tutor than Slughorn,” he joked. “It’d be great, though, thank you.”

Ted nodded, glad that he could give William the information that he needed. “It definitely will, and I think you could probably learn a lot from him” he agreed. Even as a professor, he was learning things from Moody. “You’re going to do fine, I’m sure of it” Ted reassured. 

“I promise, by the time we’re done you’ll be able to make all of these with ease” Ted swore, giving his word. “Slughorn is a good professor, but he tends to avoid one on one tutoring” Ted laughed, he remembered that from when he was in school. “Anytime William, I’m glad I can help”

Samantha nodded. She could see the love in Ted’s eyes, the pride, when he spoke of her, it was adorable. She could see the same in her parent’s eyes back home, and someday, she wanted to find someone who’d talk about her and looked at her the same way. “Thank you, Ted. It’s really nice to hear you say that, thank you” She repeated “And that’ll help a bunch, keep us up all night”

Ted couldn’t help the way his eyes lit up when he spoke about his wife. Andromeda and Dora were his world, and he could hardly keep the pride out of his voice when he spoke about them. “I’m just glad I can help you guys out. You do a lot of good here, I just want to do my part,” he smiled.

“I figured my grades would be enough, honestly, but if not…” William shrugged. “He never struck me as the type to show favouritism, but I guess you know better than I do about that sort of thing.”

He waited quietly as Ted reviewed the syllabus, not wanting to interrupt, and let out a little sigh of relief. “Thanks. It’s not the theory I have trouble with so much - just the practical stuff tends to… not go the way I want.”

“Sometimes they are, but a recommendation doesn’t hurt anything, it usually always helps” Ted explained. He didn’t want William to be discouraged, but he knew the importance of connections. “Moody doesn’t make the final decision. He has influence, a lot of it, but more people are involved in the decision making process” 

“Understandably so, some of these are hard to make, and they’re all about precision. I can help you through these though, you’ll be ready in no time” Ted reassured.

“Well I’m more than happy to help,” He said with a smile. “Thanks, I’ll probably have to take you up on that,” He said with a chuckle before he nodded, “Yeah, we are.”

“It’s much appreciated,” Ted smiled. He nodded, “It’s always good to brush up on skills. You can’t ever be too prepared with the Order” Ted laughed. “Well we do share a wife, we kind of have to be” Ted joked, though he really did care about the other man.

“That’s good since I already told her we would be there.” She said with a smile. She knew Ted didn’t mind when she made plans for them, just as she didn’t mind when he did. Ted’s family were one of the best things that had happened to her, aside from himself and Dora, of course. “I’m happy for you, love, I really am. I know how much you have missed being in a classroom with students. They are lucky to have you.” No matter what Ted did, she was proud of him. She was so proud that he loved to teach other people. It showed the type of person he was. “That soon? That’s wonderful!”

Ted laughed, “You know us so well” he grinned. Of course they would go have dinner with his family, neither of them could ever say no to his mother. Besides, Dora loved spending time with her grandparents and aunts. “I’m just glad I can get back to teaching, even if it’s still in the muggle world. At least it’s something, and they’re students all the same” Ted agreed. He loved being able to make connections with his kids, and really help them. “I’m very excited. How are things at the hospital? How’s our husband?” Ted teased.

Spending the day with her family was always exciting for her. Especially when Ted planned some surprise for them that he wouldn’t tell them about. Like today when he had told her to get ready and that he was taking them somewhere. She loved that he planned things for all of them to do together. Really, she loved everything about him. 

She had gotten ready in no time, mostly after he informed her it wasn’t something she needed to ‘dress up’ for. Ted had offered to get Dora ready while she packed lunch for all of them and some snacks for their daughter. She could hear them in the other room, Dora arguing about what she was going to wear and she couldn’t help but laugh. She was getting at the age where she always had to pick out her own clothes, wanting to be independent. 

“I am, love.” She smiled when she felt him kiss her on her cheek. When she turned to give him a proper kiss, she laughed against his lips when she heard the ‘ewwwww’ excalmation from their daughter. “So, where is it you are taking us to today?”

Ted figured that they could spend a while at the planetarium, and then go to their favourite park. Dora loved to play there, and it was always a great place for a picnic. He was thankful that Andy was always up for going on an adventure with him, even if she didn’t know what she was getting into. 

He couldn’t help but smile at his daughters reaction to them kissing. “Oh shush, go put your shoes on” he laughed, setting down his little girl. Dora trotted over to the door, before sitting down to put on her sneakers. “Well if I told you, it would take all the fun out of it” Ted laughed. “I promise, it’ll be worth it” he grinned. 

Even though it was a warm, summer day, he grabbed a sweatshirt for Dora, and one for himself. It was sometimes chillier inside, and the weather was always unpredictable. “What I can tell you, is that it’s worth brining a sweater. We’ll be outside for a bit, so hopefully the weather doesn’t change, but just incase” Ted offered. After he put his own shoes on, he helped Dora tied hers. “Come on munchkin” he said, pulling her up to her feet. “Apparation or driving?” Ted asked his wife.

Sam nodded at his words. She knew people could be evil, but harming so many people, bringing down a bridge, it was just silly in her eyes “Yeah, she’s such a good healer, she really sets the bar high for the rest of us. I mean, I really hope I get to stand where she is at some point” She said with a shrug. Sammy has always one to have a bunch of idols. Both her dad and her mom in her daily life, and inside the hospital, she had people like Andy and Bertram to look up to and try to be like them. “Oh, you’re such a dear, Ted. I take mine half and half with milk, and two sugars” She added with a bright smile at the end.

Ted smiled as the girl talked about his wife, a swell of pride in his chest. “Dromeda is really good at what she does, she’s very passionate about it” he nodded. “Sam, I’m certain that you’ll be able to do so,” Ted encouraged. From what Ted had gathered, Andromeda usually worked closely with their interns, helping to train them. Between her and Bertram, they’d have a great staff to work with. “I’m just want to help you guys help others,” Ted smiled. He committed her words to memory, before nodding. “Alright, easy enough”

“If anything I’ll start out just as a healer for people that come back from missions, I haven’t dueled since… bloody hell, three or four years, my defensive magic is rusty,” He said with a chuckle. “Thanks, Ted.”

“Honestly we need people willing to do that. As sad as it, we almost always have people that need to be patched back up,” Ted smiled encouragingly. “Well if you ever want to brush up on those skills, I’d be happy to work with you on it” he offered. “That’s what friends are for”

“Makes sense,” William agreed.

“I, uh, I actually do know Moody,” he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. He might be a very junior member of the Order and definitely didn’t know everyone yet, but he’d been introduced to Moody pretty much from the start. “I’m not too worried about the physical training, it’s just the exams.”

He fumbled in his bag and produced a folder containing all the N.E.W.T. syllabuses. “This is what they sent me,” he explained, pulling out the Potions one, “and this is where I’m up to with this.” He pointed at a spot indicating he was just finishing up the sixth-year work. “But I’m still getting mostly just As.”

Ted listened as he spoke, nodding his head. “I will tell you, that if they know you’ve been trained specifically by Moody, you’re more likely to receive the job,” Ted told him. He wasn’t going to pretend that there weren’t politics involved with working for the Ministry. It would help William greatly if he had a recommendation from Mad-Eye.

Once he had the file, Ted started looking over the material. Most of it was fairly advanced, and he knew that these could start to get tricky. “I can help with all of these. I’ll make sure you’re at least at an E before you have to take your exam” he promised. William was smart, it wouldn’t be terribly hard to get him up to this level. 

“The best approach would be to keep going through the line, it looks like they get progressively harder,”

Sam smiled and sighed, running a hand through her hair and stuffing them into the pockets of her coat “Yeah, I heard too… Don’t know how ‘magically’ it could have been, I just don’t understand why somebody would do that” She said with a sigh, then adding a small smile on her face “I’m sure she’s somewhere around here, if I see her, I’ll let you know you were looking for her. And yes, if you will, I’d love some coffee” Her heart swelled at the mention of the drink, her mind perking up by the thought of it.

Ted sighed softly, “It’s terrible what people will to do to one another,” he said. “I don’t know why they would either, some people are just cruel I suppose.” Ted smiled, nodding, “I’m sure she is too. It’s Andy, she’s probably seeing three patients all at once,” he laughed. “Sounds good, I’ll just pick her up something and hope it’s alright with her,” he grinned, “How do you take your coffee?”
