In another type of gaslighting, the gaslighter is always transformed into the victim. Whenever you bring up a problem, you find yourself apologizing by the end of the conversation.

Investigation into Mississippi woman's burning death leads to arrests of 17 suspected gang members I'm really interested in "strange" crimes that involve women.
Social workers should engage, listen, advocate and be visible in order to help educate society on what we really do. At some point in your life, you will need a social worker. #socialwork #socialworkers #schoolsocialwork #Socialservices #MentalHealth #socialjustice #macrosw #humanrights #socialgood #socialinnovation

patriarchy and gender itself are inseperable. “reforming” gender in a liberal sense will not eliminate the violence gender entails as an institution
Don't forget to add capitalism. Gender, patriarchy and capitalism.
Mental competence suit against Redstone raises questions over future of Viacom and CBS {this raises some interesting questions about advance directives and business. I've seen it plenty of times in my field, where there is a fossil executive making decisions and everyone just goes along for it.
Lynch feels that there shouldn't be a federally mandated report when police kill community members.
Yes, I know that all black women's struggles aren't the same. We don't live the same stories. I do think however that there are certain universal unifiers that bond us. One difference however makes our experiences quite the opposite, class. I don't have any opinion on the foolery that Raven Symone talks about, except calling it that, foolery. Her opinion is shaped from the fact that she was a child star which afforded her an affluent upbringing and lifestyle. She doesn't get it. That's all. She hasn't had to deal with the pressures and struggle that many black women have experienced. How could we expect her to represent black women, when she doesn't identify with being labeled black?
The problem with gender is that it prescribes how we should be rather than recognizing how we are. Imagine how much happier we would be, how much freer to be our individual selves, if we didn’t have the weight of gender expectations.
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, We Should All Be Feminists (via tserink)
We are so much more than our labels. We are so much more than the constructs and constraints that we live within.
"It’s nearly impossible to detangle personal preference from social conditioning, our deepest desires from the codes we have been taught to follow." Gender roles and expectations. Our society has evolved and these ideals don't necessarily fit with the constraints, values, social structure of contemporary times. While this article references marriage equality type concepts, let's consider marriage as an institution for everyone. More thoughts on this.
life seems so random but that's the plan.

As the nation’s gaze is set on Baltimore, sociologists have begun to talk to the press about the massive peaceful protests, outbreaks of rioting and violence, and media depictions of the city as it mourns the death of Freddie Gray @profmasala
