Level Preview
I will be uploading a short preveiw of how the level looks in few minutes. As it takes time for uploading it in youtube. I am really happy that one of my viewer and a friend :P really interested to see my level progression. So i am posting this video mainly for him. And also for people whoever showed interest on my project. Thank you for all your support.
UNITY spherical gravity success. I dont really have rights to reveal the script. Because, the script was written by my programmer. So i could say it was modified from faux gravity script by podperson. Its been modified to achieve this gravity. I really thank Mr.shudharshan my developer for making it. And Podperson for doing a good job.
here is the link for faux grvity : http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/8873-Faux-Gravity-making-my-brain-spin...-Help!?p=66081#post66081
Kind of a solution for the problem
After surfing the internet and asking so many questions in forums of unity. I finally got a solution for the problem what is needed. Even though it has got some bugs to fix, this is really gave some hope that it can be done. Here is the article which i found. Author has done a great job of explaining it step by step even anyone who barely knows scripting could work it out.

One of the PG game development student found the project interested and is willing to help me out in the project. He is a pretty good programmer too. I finally got some hope that i will give a proper game. But as a door opened. another door started to close :P the deadline was near. I need to rush our before the door closes. SO now me and the developer Mr. Sudharshan teamd up together in making the game. We are working the level i will post update as soon it is fixed.. THank you for baring with us. See you soon with some good update. good night
Thanks to developers
I would really like to thank some of my good programming dudes. I would say they really got skills. Sankho, mayank, Jay Wora. Each of them saved my ass today literally. I thought scripting would be simple to copy paste stuffs at the beginning, But really it needed to be taken care. THese guys tried their best to help me out in my character movement as my level needs some different scripting than normal. Still there is bugs to be fixed. ANyway I thank everyone for their support, even though they had their own works to do.
Some of the digital scribbles i made for the game. I am not really good at digital sketches. Some of friends gave me some tips to sketch. Namely Raja, Kaushik dhar. ANd everyone who helped me out. THank you. I think i am getting better at it. :)
Player concept test inside engine.. sorry for the low quality output.
Player Avatar..
After thinking more about what kind of character to introduce, i came up with a simplistic idea of placing a sphere as the player. WHy not? from the research work i have done, its been found that, kids are not really into how big is the character and how powerful i he, they stick to whatever it is, unless it is not dull unattractive character. SO now my character i planned is a simple glowing ball with particles working as sparkle tracking the ball. As far as is shown my prototype game to some of the kids near by, they really liked to play with it. The screenshot of the player is posted. If you have anything to say.. I am open to suggestions. Ty
Spherical Terrain in UNITY 3D
Making a flat terrain game in any game is not a big deal for any game engine. THe problem arises when you play with the gravity that too without the power of scripting. because, In most engines the gravity of the world is always kept below the land which determines that designers are working on a huge world already. SO, if you want to show the whole game as a spherical u have to replace the gravity in the centre of the sphere inorder to make the level obey the real world physics. But, As far as i tried its not possible for me to change the gravity to like whatever place we want. Even, i tried questions from experts around unity forums. People gave some good ideas to fake it, still the kind of output i am looking for is not possible with those. :( And some of my developer friends helped me out in that, providing me the scripts whichever i wanted to do.
Details of the game
I am finalized with the concept. I have decided to use UNITY 3D engine to make my level. It has got some good features and Its a powerful engine as well. I thought of making the little bit different form other games. And from the research work i am working on i found some information about making games for kids. Kids like free roaming rather than a limited a gameplay. And also they wont be looking for huge and different building here and there. SO i planned to make the level simple as well as the feel of they have the complete power on their hands. So, i planned to make the level as a spherical level. I am now working on the level design. I will come up with the updates soon.. bye for now.. It will take some time. :)
Concept scribbles..
Project ATOM
I have changed the blog name to Project ATOM too. I am sure this will be my final concept for which i am making the game. The basic concept outline is explained below
Gameplay:
For the first level we will be playing as a energy source, which i am showing in the form of a glowing ball with some glowing and twinkling stuffs around. The game is targetted to the audience group of age 9 - 15. So as the targetted audience are kids, I am making the game in such a way which attracts kids. And supporting this game i am doing a dissertation on "game design for kids". Which helped me in finding out the key factors what makes the game liked my kids.
Backstory:
A futuristic Advanced AI robot belongs to some planet takes a journey into a new galaxy, where it met with an accident with a free falling high speed meteor and it totally got disassembled and scattered all around the smaller planets in that galaxy. From here the game starts. Where the Advanced AI power source is still alive. We play as the glowing energy source and to progress through the game by finding the rest of the parts. As the game is intended for kids its, the level design and story has made simple enough to attract the kids.
Some of the pre concept scribbles are posted here.

New Game FROM SCRATCH
Hey there,
SOrry to interupt,
i am not settled yet. As i was alone working for my proejct. With the previous concepts i was trying to make a level design. BUt now, i got some idea of making a game for kids with only a little bit of player scripting involved.
For me, whatever game you make, just the fun part is important, not the fancy stuffs or the High Definition. Though your game looks like boxes and spheres see for whether the players find it fun to play. Actually, thats the definition i would say for a good game. So i am going to make a game with simpler concept. I will update the rest of the details of the game in the coming post. stay tuned.
here is a sneak peak of the prototype of the concept i was trying
my old random concept sketches...
