ANNOUNCING THE PROJECT ED SUMMER READING CHALLENGE!
This summer we are calling on creators to reimagine classic and popular novels in a new series of video contests.
In our first-ever Summer Reading Challenge, weâve lined up over $20,000 in cash prizes to creators who can create fun and unforgettable videos on popular books across genres like adventure, sci-fi, monsters and mysteries, and even young adult fiction. Â
Participants have their choice of creating book trailers, reenactments or dramatic readings of well-known titles. Â Contests are open now and run through July. Anyone over the age of 13 in the US or Canada can submit. Get all the details and enter here.
In honor of National Poetry Month, weâve launched an all-new contest that is challenging you to create a music video based on Edgar Allan Poeâs classic, Annabel Lee.
Annabel Lee is a tale of powerful and enduring love. We could think of no better way to highlight the beauty of Poeâs words than by turning them into a song. Create an original song using the poem as lyrics and you could win $1500!
Check out the contest page here: Â

Love ever get you down?? In this new collaboration for Project Ed, Rob Meyer (Director of A Birder's Guide to Everything) and Alex Wolff (The Naked Brothers Band) teamed up to create a short that defines the word 'despondent'.
Project Edâs Latest Contest: A Collaboration with Participant Media and TEACH
Project Ed is excited to announce a new collaboration with Participant Media. Participant Media is a film and television production company whose work continuously inspires us. Together, we have decided to highlight the importance of teachers in all of our lives. Weâve teamed up to design a new contest for our creators to reimagine the world without teachers. Sounds a little crazy, right? Yeah, thatâs right â without teachers in our lives, how would we all become who we are today? Well, that problem is exactly what we need your help to show the world. Â
Participant is no newcomer to this challenge. Their documentary, TEACH, is all about the power of great teachers to overcome challenges inside and outside the classroom walls. Â Teachers are on the front lines of affecting change; they motivate and inspire young people to become more than they could ever imagine. Yet despite the potential of great teachers to impact our future, the very profession of teaching is at risk. Teachers are increasingly underpaid and underappreciated. And, as a result, nearly 50% of teachers leave the profession within the first five years.
Thatâs where you, creators, come in. We need your help to create videos that show just how different the world would look if great teaching was lost... A world without teachers. We challenge you to show us how losing our teachers could impact the economy, the government, the arts, and the world, as a whole. Create a short film, two minutes or less, that inspires a student to become a teacher and you could win $1000.

The Top 5 Holiday Themed Project Ed Videos
Itâs that time of year again when the shops, streets, and homes are...
By OfureOkojie
...in anticipation of the holidays. To get you in the spirit, we put together our top five Project Ed holiday videos. Take a look at some of these videos to better prepare you for the upcoming holiday celebrations. Otherwise, your holiday season could very well break into all outâŠ
By Liam
As the holidays approach, itâs always a good idea to get in the holiday spirit. You can do so by dressing or even dancing in an especially -- how should we put it? -- âspiritedâ fashion in a similar vein to that of the protagonist of Gregâs video, for example:
However, if you are going to dance or dress in a âspiritedâ fashion for the holidays, we recommend taking a cue from the protagonist of EricWojnowskiâs video and make sure you know which holiday to dress âfestivelyâ for:
Still a little lost about how to dress and what to expect? JohnBartonâs video might be able to better clarify not only what the upcoming holiday will be, but also how much âjubilanceâ to expect:
Some people like to get in the holiday spirit by singing. However, before doing so, you might want to spend some time practicing your do-re-mes, as the protagonist of Maggieâs video should have done:
Now, youâre almost in the holiday spirit! But, before you partake in your holiday revelry, make sure to take one last look at simeonfrankâs video on the importance of being âjovialâ at this time of year:Â
And now we deem you to be officially ready for the holiday season. So, go forth and be merry, friends!
  Happy Holidays!
Reactions Tags: Express Yourself
What did you really think about that video? Did it make you LOL? Was the acting spectacular? Well now you can express that! We launched âreactionsâ on the Project Ed website a few weeks ago in an effort to not only give a voice to viewers but to also help creators better connect with their audience.
Think of âreactionsâ as a way for creators like you to receive real-time feedback on your videos. Maybe your viewers could not stop LOLing, indicating that you could be the next Jerry Seinfeld! (Alright, Will Ferrell, to be more realistic.) Or perhaps the acting was well received, meaning that you could be headed to the Oscars next year. Whatever the case, âreactionâ tags are an opportunity for you, as creators, to better understand your strengths as a filmmaker and for you, as viewers, to provide feedback to your fellow filmmakers.
So what exactly is this âreactionâ tag that we speak of? Each âreactionâ tag relates to a specific strength or skill that a video demonstrates. If a video had especially good special effects, a viewer would click the âAwesome VFXâ reaction tag to indicate that particular strength. There are seven âreactionâ tags all together:
Reaction tags are also linked to badges. So the more tags of a particular reaction that your video receives, the closer youâll get to receiving a badge that demonstrates your expertise in a particular skillset. More precisely: once your video earns a least 5 reactions in one skill category, you will earn your first badge for that skill.
So exactly how does this all work, you ask? Easy! At the bottom of each video submission modal, youâll see the set of seven âreactionâ tags. When watching a video, a viewer can tag the video with a skill he or she thinks is especially well executed in that video. Hereâs what the reaction tags look like all together:
Check out some videos from our recently closed contests and start reacting!

Itâs (Almost) Time to Get Your Thanksgiving On
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we put together some relevant Project Ed video definitions in anticipation of the big (turkey) day. So, before you barge into Thanksgiving dinner and demand...
...you might want to take a look at some of these videos to brush up on the âdoâs and donâtsâ and what to expect of Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is a time to count your blessings. Itâs also a time to be thankful for your own âprosperityâ, or good fortune and success. Especially so if, like GabriellaCisneros, your good fortune and success includes lots of money and a new car:
Ok, fine, a dream of lots of money and a new car.
Thanksgiving is also a time to eat. And eat and eat:
Hopefully the mashed potatoes at your Thanksgiving dinner wonât include Mr. Chunks, the mutant potato that Ian dreams up in his video definition of the word âgrotesqueâ.
With all that mouthwatering food, itâs tempting to dig right in Ă la:
So you might want to brush up on your manners. You can thank Jennadesg, our very own Emily Post, for demonstrating how to properly behave at the dinner table in her video definition of âprimlyâ:
And while youâre at it, you might also want to take a look at DN10âs video definition of âvulgarâ in which he demonstrates how not to behave at the dinner table.
Now youâre practically a âconnoisseurâ, or as daflleje describes it, an expert of a particular subject. In this case, all things Thanksgiving!
Happy eating, friends!
