Jousen ja käsisuojukset tein kans ite. :-) (vyöt on kaiveltu jostain)

I reshaped my bow and repainted it, this time with GLOSS black spray, not MATTE. Gloss is so much better.

Hi! I just stumbled upon your blog as I'm trying to start my own Legolas cosplay. I saw your pictures for making your bow (it looks so freaking amazing), but could you maybe tell me the steps/what you used to do it? Thank you so much!

Thank you! Hope this message haven’t been here in my box too long (I always forgot that this box exists). It’s my pleasure to tell you about it, trying to do my best:

You’ll need: a bent stick of fir (or other tough but flexible wood), a knife, sandpaper/sander, elastic string, a bottle of black gloss spray paint, thin brush and golden paint.

STEP 1: Whittle the stick and made it as bent as I could. I guess it’s not really important to soak it in water but it makes it a little bit more flexible.

STEP 2: Carve little holes to the each ends for the string (be cautious, bow might crack). After carving just tie the string carefully to the bow (or you can leave tying to the very end).

STEP 3: Then use the sandpaper or a sander to make it feel and look smooth.

STEP 4: You don’t have to use tape, it was unnecessary and I took it away. Just paint it with black spray (gloss gives better results than matte). Spary costs about 8 dollars. After painting let it dry (it might take over 12 hours).

STEP 5: When it’s dry, you can start making the leaf figure. It’s easier if you first draw the figure on paper and then draw it to the bow with (f.ex.) a chalk. Then you can start painting the leaf figure with a really thin brush (I used a eyeliner brush). The golden paint can was about 15 dollars.

There you go, I think that’s everything I can tell :-)

Easy cloak

Hi! I promised a few months ago to do a cloak tutorial: here it is! This is not the super professional way to make a cloak, but a great choice if you want to make it just quick and easily (and I’ve liked it).

You will need 2 meters of cloth, I prefer thin wool (Italian wool is great and not so expensive).

So the first step: here we have a 2-metre-long cloath. Now cut the cloath to the right width. The width should be a bit over your shoulders, for me 65-70cm is enough (I’m size xs).

Then cut it to the lenght you want it to be. Save the extra piece!

After cutting, sew the sides (I used zigzag bc I was lazy).

Then take the extra piece and cut it into the shape of square.

Like this. Next step is to sew the sides and then fold the hood in half and sew its one side together.

It should look like this. Now you only need to sew the cloak and the hood together.

And it’s ready!

It was my birthday in February and I invited all of my friends to my house. Almost none of them are into (at least as much as I am) lotr or hobbit, but look how incredible things they had made to me

Those are stickers in the second pic, they combined my and Legolas’ face with photoshop or something I don’t know but I love it

And that necklace is my precious

The calendar isn’t a present, it cost 1 euro so I bought it when I was hanging around with my queuing night friends. We had taken part in some hobbit themed quiz and won cool hobbit stuff like t-shirt, reflectors and fake tattoos.

I’m just so thankful to have great people around

My sister and her friend graduated from high school today! Surprise surprise these costumes were my idea and I promised to make Gandalf's clothes so the cloak and the gown are made by me (as are the Leggy's clothes of course)

I've now seen bofa in 3D HFR (high frame rate) and normal 3D and I ABSOLUTELY prefer HFR version. Why people hate it so much?

Well, I’m trying to do my best:

I chose Legolas because I don’t like wigs (I think it’s obvious but this is my real hair) and his face is a little bit similar to mine. I don’t even try to make a perfect copy of his costume but I got my inspiration from the Two towers.

I decided that I will try to buy everything from the thrift shops bc it’s cheap and I like old materials.

- At first I started to look for a green coat. I was lucky and found that dark green coat made of suede (It’s originally from H&M but very old one…) and it cost only 5 dollars!

Then I made some modifications (cut the sleeves and sewed those extra pieces to the tails to make it longer etc.) Your costume will look better if you have right materials!

- Under that coat is two undershirts, the green one is from my friend and I had the white one already. They just look good and feel comfortable, I don’t have bigger reason why I use them.

- My cloak is made of a thin, italian wool. Other wools were quite expensive, but that one cost only 7 dollars or something! I have a few pics of making this, so I promise to do some kind of cloak tutorial! I tried to do the leaf of Lórien by myself, but it failed so I bought that (about 7 dollars)…

- The bow was a hard and expensive project, but at least it’s quite easy if you’re not like me… You’ll need: a bent stick of fir, a knife, sandpaper, tough string, a bottle of black gloss spray paint and golden paint.

I whittled the stick and made it as bent as I could. Then I used the sandpaper to make it feel smooth. After that I turned it to black with spray paint. When it was dry, I made the leaf figure with golden paint and a thin brush. Spray paint costs about 8 dollars and golden paint 15.

- My trousers are just grey jeans, and I bought them from the thrift shop for 5 dollars.

- Aaaaand the shoes were mine already, too! Shoes are not so important imo, so I’m happy with these.

AND A FEW WORDS ABOUT MY FACE: I need three things. A highlighter, a bronzer, and an eyebrow pencil (yes I’m using everything else too but those are most important ones). Then you just need to find out the face shape of the character you want to cosplay (I couldn’t find any Legolas make-up tutorial on Youtube, but there’s lots of useful hair tutorials!)
