Location: Chihuahua, México
The project is located at a golf club community in the desert like northern region of Mexico. The concept of the project is to accommodate it according to the constant temperature changes. The house is designed to accommodate the special climatic circumstances of the area, because in winter temperatures fall to minus ten degrees Celsius, while during summer the temperature can rise to above forty degrees Celsius. In order to have temperature balanced, they partially buried the house into the mountain slop to take advantage of the soil’s thermal mass, during the day, the cold soil around the house absorbs heat accumulated during the day, and at night the ground gives off heat to the building.
Aside, that the main concept of the project is the constant fluctuation of temperature, the house is organized around a series of patios (at the façade) and roof opening that provide light, ventilation and views. The house interacts perfectly with the temperature of the site (bioclimatic design) and takes in consideration the views of the terrain, which gives more value to the house and enriches it. The site and the climate conditions inspired the form and the accommodation of the house.
