Rules for rebuilding.
A chance to right the wrongs. To let go what has to be let go. Shed tears that needs to be shed. Laugh for things that I wonder why I haven't laughed about yet. Live life the way its meant to be lived. And be strong against walls I haven’t broken down yet. When dealing with depression, there are many many many things you have to deal with. They’re lumped up in just an a lot of negativity and it becomes so self destructive. If youve never dealt with depression I can just tell you that it can become such a vicious cycle. Your condition makes you negative, and makes you do negative things, in turn results in negative consequences, which creates more negativity inside yourself. So with this, this is the guide for positivity. A set of rules so to speak to rebuild myself. A way to kill the negativity, and live within a positive reality. Rule #1: Nothing is ever as bad as it seems. Rule #2: An extraordinary life is equaled through extraordinary actions. Do something extraordinary. Rule #3: Nothing is ever as bad as it seems. Rule #4: Keep people you care about. They’re the ones who will laugh with you. And cry with you. They will never judge you at your worst. And they will have fun with you at your best. Rule #5: Nothing is ever as bad as it seems. Rule #6: You are NOT as worthless as you sometimes feel. You have to prove that to yourself by pushing the limits of your capabilities. Refer to to Rule #2. Rule #7: Nothing is ever as bad as it seems. Rule #8: Why, why, why, cant everything be fun? If it isn't fun... why cant we make it fun? Work, school, chores... everything. How can you make it fun? I can have fun at work!! And everything doesn’t have to be so serious either. This is our one shot at life and I don't intend to go underground pissed off about everything. Rule #9: Nothing is ever as bad as it seems. Rule #10: Everything is about rebuilding yourself. Which means at some point everything about you has been cut down. It’s ok, thats the main burden depression bestows upon you. So now you build back up one block at a time. Embrace yourself in literature, movies, articles. And then also engage yourself in artistic methods. Express. Its my opinion that this method uncorks pent up feelings and emotions. And also it forces soul searching. Finding the right blocks. Rule #11: Nothing is ever as bad as it seems. Rule #12: Find a hobby to get you focused on something. This really could apply to Rule #10. Rule #13: Nothing is ever as bad as it seems. Rule #14: Remind yourself. Because you need reminding. That you are awesome with spectacular abilities. Our problem is we have trouble realizing it sometimes. Rule #15: Nothing is ever bad as it seems. Rule #16: Always be prepared for the A Team. Because they can descend on your ass at any moment. Just look out for the bling of Mr. T’s vast collection of gold chains around his gigantic jugular. And if all else fails, if you hear the words “I pity the foo” run like hell. Not that it matters, because they don’t ever hit anything anyways. (This was really added through a funny joke between myself and a friend. Really what this is meant to be is a point, that humor is always a good thing. And laughing at the stupidest jokes is quite a release in a goofy way) Rule #17: Nothing is ever bad as it seems. Rule #18: Help someone in need. If you have the ability, be that positive guidance if its need. I believe thats one thing this world lacks, is general caring and willing to help. Ive also always found that willingness to help people introduces amazing people in to your life. However make sure these people actually desire your help. And make sure you are NOT being taken advantage of. Rule #19: Nothing... ever... is bad as it seems. Rule #20: There is a meaning to life. There’s a scene in City Slickers where Jack Palence’s character lifts one finger and says “This is the meaning to life. You have to figure it out for yourself.” With these rules, there’s more you have to figure out for ourselves. I understand. We with depression have to figure out life all over again. We’re children relearning to introduce ourselves back in to the world. So with these rules that I wrote for myself I know there’s an infinite number of rules beyond it. We gotta figure it out for ourselves. We have to figure out what works for us because it wont for the next person :P
