    “ouch, someone’s as cold as ice. it’s cute how you think you could hurt me, sirius.” his lips curved into a smirk as he shook his head slightly. “i’m glad you understand at least that part of it. so wouldn’t you want to live through it and watch people celebrate you as you emerge a champion?”

“How about we toast to the new year?” Andy said, holding up a glass. “Let’s make 2018 the best year we’ve had yet!” She said. Everything seemed to be looking up for once and Andy was hoping 2018 would bring peace in the wizarding world and things would get better. Though that was probably just her hopeful thinking. 

     “a toast is indeed needed.” james said with a small grin as he raised his glass in return, clinking it with the other’s. “as crappy as last year was, i have a pretty good feeling that this year is going to be lit. we can only hope.”

          Diagon Alley still baffled Ted. It was only by sheer DUMB luck that he managed to navigate his way through, over the cobbled streets and through the crowds of people in robes. He shuffled past a group congregated in front of the Quidditch store, allowing a smile to grow as he avoided standing on people’s shoes. “By Merlin’s left sock, it shouldn’t be this difficult to get a book of fairy tales…” He nodded at the woman who was exiting the book store, holding the door open for him before he collided with another body. “Oh — Merlin, I’m sorry, I didn’t see you there.”

    most people didn’t take james for one to have a love for reading, but rather associating him with mischief. of course, yes, lily was the bookworm amongst the two but he himself had a soft spot for books. and while his mischievous side never did and never will cease to shine, the bibliophile hidden inside him would ache to come through once in a while. after picking up a book on sprites and a copy of the beater’s bible, he shuffled through the swarming crowd to try to exit the room, only to bump harshly into another individual causing him to almost lose his balance. “it’s...alright. are you alright? blimey, someone seems to be in a real hurry.”

“i’ve wasted my breath telling you that countless times before, another time won’t hurt me.” james replied nonchalantly with a shrug. “but c’mon mate, you and me both know we ain’t gonna be defeated by this war, ever.”
