POF materials provide cross-linked characteristics that provide high-tensile strength and incredible clarity for high-speed packaging applications. It also prevents build-up on the sealing components of the packaging machinery. It can be stored in a wide range of temperatures without affecting the durability of the packaging. It is more expensive than PVC shrink wrap and tiny holes need to be added to the wrap before application to allow air to escape during the shrinking process. There are pre-perforated shrink wraps also available for this purpose. • Polyethylene (PE) Shrink WrapPolyethylene is created when ethylene is added to polyolefin during the polymerization process. There are different forms of PE, but the three most common would be Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE), Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE), & High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE). The disadvantages of PE are that it does not have a high shrink rate, usually around 20 per cent, and it has significantly lower clarity when compared to the other wraps. PE requires more prolonged heat exposure to shrink fully and is not conducive for packaging heat-sensitive products. It is more expensive than PVC or polyolefin, but thicker, tougher, and more stretchable. It is also harder to shrink out completely and requires more cooling space. It is recyclable.
