was talking to my gf about my fear of dying young for being trans and my mom putting my deadname on my gravestone, and she said "i hope that never happens, but if it does, i will carve your name into your grave myself if i have to." and i think theres something extremely raw about that sentiment and trans community in general. you can kill only our bodies, but you cant kill transsexuality
My best friend was reading The Sandman comics at my behest because I had told her how important Wanda’s story in it had been to me as a young transman. When she got to the panel where Barbie writes Wanda’s name on her grave in her favorite lipstick, she called me up bawling, promising me she’d take a chisel to my grave if she had to, but she wasn’t going to let anyone disrespect me like that. I have a lot of complicated feelings about those comics now, but Barbie and Wanda have always meant a lot to me. They can kill us, bury us under a false name, try to erase our existence, but there will always be people who remember and guard the truth of us.
