I am so happy that my friend showed me this especially in a time like this. The voice actors of Naruto and Sasuke have answered one of the requests of their fans which was Sasuke’s confession to Naruto. I think this took place before Shippuden since Sasuke’s voice is not that deep yet.

Naruto: This is the same too…

You see? there’s no mention of Sasuke or Naruto’s feelings. SS and NH think if a girl has feelings for a guy, the guy must reciprocate, it must happen. A rejection is simply not acceptable. They think love is all about the girl’s feelings, men’s feelings don’t count. Once a girl set her eyes on a guy, all that’s left for him to do is feeling guilty, and obligated to accept the girl.

I came across a post on narutoforums and this guy made a really nice point

When Kishimoto talked about “Sakura’s addiction to Sasuke”, he used this word: 中毒

中 = middle 毒 = poison, toxic, ill will, malice, bad influence, harm

So the word basically means that Sakura is immersed in poison when it comes to Sasuke. 

Japanese is a really subtle language, the wordplay is there and we all know how much Japanese people use symbolisms. And you can see how this is a very negative word.

Then he went on saying that there are other terms to describe the addiction that wouldn’t sound as negative or derogatory (like this one, that would explain PERFECTLY a “healthy” addiction caused by infatuation). But that’s the word he chose.
