When all I had to offer was my worst, You saw my heavy heart and loved me first.

friendly reminder that john piper says that gods love is conditional.
It's not.
Iď¸ just read a quote that said âNever be the reason someone asked God for peaceâ and wow. God forgive me for the times Iâve been the toxic person in someoneâs life.
God doesnât love us begrudgingly. He doesnât look at us and say, âWell, youâre horribly broken and you struggle so badly in this area, but I guess Iâll love you anyways.â Godâs love for us is wild, unashamed, and pure. He doesnât look at us and say, âWell, you sinned in this way today, so you lost a little bit of the love I could have given you today.â He loves us just the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He already knows what youâre going to do, and His love for you is still wild, unashamed, and pure. On the days when youâre tempted to tell yourself that you were too horrible and broken for God to love you, whisper this into the depths of your soul: God is love.Â
âThe gospel of Jesus Christ is not a rock we stand on to climb a mountain; it is the Rock, the Mountain.â đđź
my reason to be alive is to usher in the coming kingdom by following Christ and suffering and bearing witness just like the lamb
Pray for religiously-affiliated and church counselors in my state (WA) to continue speaking Godâs truth into the lives of those who come to them with gender related issues. Pray that they would do so boldly and without fear.
Today the stateâs House of Representatives voted to criminalize the whole counsel of God, but âWe must obey God rather than menâ (Acts 5:29).
You think you are obeying God with conversion therapy?
Imagine that youâre a church counselor and a young man or woman comes you saying that theyâre struggling with feelings of gender dysphoria - theyâre uncomfortable as their biological sex and uncomfortable in their own skin, and they are having difficulty relating to gender roles etc. as set forth in the Bible. You begin to gently speak to and counsel them on this topic, using the Bible to bring them back to a biblical understanding of their identity. Theyâre happy with their sessions and their life is starting to improve. Then someone in that young personâs life finds out what is going on and reports you to the authorities and youâre arrested and sent to prison.
I guess Iâm having a difficult time understand what you mean by âbiblical understanding of their identityâ you can be gay / ssa and still be a Jesus loving Christian. You donât need to covert to being straight to enjoy the love and paradise that Jesus sets forth for us. Even conservative Christians agree that as long as you donât act upon your feelings itâs ok to be gay / ssa. (Although I donât agree w that but thatâs a separate issue) I think the bill is trying to outlaw the actual conversion therapy that causes Godâs children to kill themselves & hate themselves bc they arenât deemed worthy by pastors / fundamentalists
for one, it doesnât matter what the bill is TRYING to do, it matters what itâs doing.
second, I understand the point about not acting on feelings etc. but think about it another way. This bill is denying those with same sex attractions etc. the right to seek help. Now I refuse to buy the lie that therapy/counseling âdoesnât helpâ ever. Thatâs a wicked lie and itâs slander and there is so much lies and slander going around about what the practice is and what it does. All of this sexual identity stuff comes from Freudian attitudes about things like âsexual repressionâ. Itâs scare tactics to stop people from seeking help.
The ban is against attempting to alter the sexual orientation of minors. Thatâs conversation therapy. You can still go to your pastor / religious official for help. Itâs for kids whose parents are forcing then to go to these âtherapistsâ. An adult can still go make that decision for themselves if they wish to go through it. Also I have 0 idea how you can reduce sexual identity comes from Freud. Also I hope you donât think I am attacking you in any way, just trying to understand how you can think that being in support of this conversion therapy is a good thing
Anyone deserves to be able to get help regardless of their age. Itâs not inherently wrong just because that person is a minor. Thereâs no difference between a minor going to see a church counselor about this issue than about any other issue. If you think there is, then itâs your ideological bias getting in the way. You might as well ban parents from bringing their kids to church.
There is a huge difference between offering guidance and help and attempting to change someoneâs sexual orientation
No there isnât and thatâs your bias
... my bias? Peace out brother / sister in Christ. May God speak truth into your life
âWhen you stand before God, and you know and he knows, you have nothing to offer, and He still loves you the same, it really makes you more grateful and humble. Itâs hard, I know, believe or even accept a love that does not ask us anything. And people sometimes spend a lifetime believing that true love can never be found, when in fact, it is closer than they dare to believe. We are loved, and it is demonstrated everyday, in every sunset, in the rainy afternoon, in the starry night or in the death of a beloved son.â

ââŚnor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.â
Romans 8:39 (via womanintheword)
Before you sleep tonight, forgive everyone who has harmed you and pray that everyone you might have harmed unintentionally, forgives you.
