“indeed, ms. lindel. well, it hasn’t been too bad, but there have been moments.” the next few words throw him off, though. markings? what is she talking about? this… could be a problem. his voice drops to a hushed volume, sensing that saying this aloud might mean bad times ahead. “…i– don’t know what you’re referring to, dear.”

“Ah--??” A sound of clear confusion rises up. She can tell that he has an aptitude, maybe two or three, but he doesn’t know what Markings are? His hasn’t shown up either? How odd, how strange... “Erm,” she’s not sure how to respond for a while, bouncing a bit on her heels as her mind tries to process where Mother Nature may have went wrong. ( though, mother nature was always more on maxine’s side than hers. ) 

Out of nowhere, she reaches forward and takes him by one hand, leading him away from any and all prying eyes. She’s a passive member, so to speak, of the rebellion, thanks to her past. “We need to get you away from the general populace for a while, so I can properly explain things since you’re clearly not from around here.” There’s a thought that he may not even be of this world, but the thought is brushed off with the understanding of science and legend.

a little chuckle escapes his lips. he’s grateful for the pleasant interaction after many clipped or rude ones. “oh, well, most of it is regular natural, but revlon shimmer conditioner helps substantially.” a pause as he thinks over his next words. “i suppose i should introduce myself. joshua rhodes! charmed.” he extends a gloved hand to shake. he hadn’t worn the garments much as of late. perhaps he had less to hide.

Perhaps it’s a stretch, but she likes to believe that, even by a small act of kindness, she’s helped change someone’s life for the better. You never know what someone is dealing with at home, after all. “It’s a pleasure to meet you too, Mister Rhodes.” Spoken softly as she shakes his hand, firm as a practiced politician’s grip with the grace of a dancer. “My name’s Audry Lindel. I formally apologize if anyone has spoken ill towards you. People around here can be a bit rude towards others if they don’t immediately see their Marking.” A pause. “You do have yours, don’t you?”

“oh? why, thank you, dear!” a flash of pearly whites ( with the gleams of extra-sharp canines just for show ), and whisper nods politely to the girl. “such a kind compliment from a young’un– makes an old man proud.” tone lilted with prim and proper accent seems crisp– he gives off an uncanny aura. odd.

“You’re very much welcome, sir!” Making people smile whenever she can is one of her goals in life. Has been for a very long time, in fact. She can see, yes, that this man isn’t exactly as he shows himself to be, but she also doesn’t really care! She much prefers to talk about his hair. “I have to ask: what type of shampoo do you use to make it so shiny? It looks so nice... I can never get my hair to look like that. I mean, is it a supernatural thing that you just have fabulous hair or is that a thing I can do?”
