While on safari in Africa, on the Okavango Delta, Botswana photographing wildlife, this leopard had made a kill and brought it to her cub high in a tree. While her cub was safe feeding, she made her way back down the tree through some heavy grass toward me with her head down. For a brief moment she lifted her head and I was able to get the shot. Her damaged eye did not effect her ability to hunt. After reviewing the shot it was almost as if this magnificent cat had an eye on the Universe.

Icebergs are formed when large blocks of ice breaks off from glaciers ice shelf and is floating in open water. Because glaciers are built up from snow falling on the Antarctic continent over millennia, this ice consists of pure fresh water. This floating chunk of freshwater ice then interacts with seawater beneath them it.

As seawater is drawn deep under the ice shelves by the oceanic currents, it becomes supercooled and freezes to the base of the ice shelf. Because this ice is formed from seawater that contains organic matter and minerals it causes variety of colour and texture to the iceberg. As the bergs become fragmented and sculpted by the wind and waves, the different coloured layers can develop striking patterns.

Cannibalism can be very dangerous to the body. You open yourself up to more diseases eating human flesh. Viruses tend to be very specific to a species, and it is rare for them to jump. So if you are eating beef meat contaminated with some virus that is affecting the cow, chances are you won’t catch it. But if you are eating human flesh, that is contaminated with HIV, you now have a very good chance of contracting it. Kuru is a disease that spreads almost exclusively by cannibalism. It is a mutated prion (protein) that can spread to surrounding brain matter. Resulting in a loss of motor control, impaired cognitive abilities, uncontrolled laughing, swelling in joints, and eventually death. (Source)

Italian photographer Lorenzo Montezemolo climbed Mt. Tamalpais to capture Marin County, California covered with a river of fog lit by a full moon. He later wrote that he had “compressed 186 seconds of moonlit fog into an instant.”
