A few months ago I built a simple site to provide current aviation weather (METARs and AWOS/ASOS details) via SMS. Since then a few dozen friends have been using it and it’s proving pretty popular so it’s time to spread the word a bit further and scale it up. The National Transportation Safety Board determines the probable cause(s) of this accident as follows: The pilot’s inability to maintain control of the airplane following the loss of aileron and elevator control due to the forward flight control torque tube assembly’s detachment from the forward bearing. Contributing to the accident was the inadequate construction of the forward bulkhead that held the flight control torque tube assembly in place and the improper installation of the thrust bearings.
