Sunday, May 18th we photographed Anti-Nowhere League, T.S.O.L. and Riverboat Gamblers at House of Blues in San Diego, CA. Anti-Nowhere League's spring U.S. tour has taken them up and down the California coast and starting Wednesday they hit Arizona and Las Vegas before they make their way East. Be sure to catch them if they play your town!

The Punk Rock Bowling festival performances kicked off Saturday, May 24th and featured a lineup of mostly veteran bands formed in the 70s (Cock Sparrer, Peter and the Test Tube Babies, Angelic Upstarts) 80s (Anti-Nowhere League), 90s (The Slackers, The Generators) and early 00s (Devil’s Brigade). Blackmarket Syndicate and The Gashers, formed in 2007 and 2011 respectively, were two of the younger bands on the bill and opened up the show.

Saturday, May 24th we photographed Peter and the Test Tube Babies and Potato Piratesat the Plaza Hotel in Downtown Las Vegas. The show was one of the first pool parties of the Punk Rock Bowling and Music Festival, an annual event now in its sixteenth year. The free show filled up quickly and the hallways of the Plaza were full of people lining up to try and get in. Seeing the bands and taking a dip in the pool was a fun way for everyone to get excited, not only for the festival performances taking place that afternoon, but for the entire weekend to come.
Check out the full photo gallery from the show here and look out for more of our Punk Rock Bowling photos all week long.

I’m back in New York after spending twelve days exploring southern California and shooting the Punk Rock Bowling and Music Festival in Las Vegas. I have so many photos to share—both music shots and personal work. For now, here’s a snap of Anti-Nowhere League from San Diego, CA on May 18th.
The Epic Mohawks of Punk Rock Bowling
Yes, punk rock as a fashion statement is pretty lame. Yes, most punks’ outfits look less like an act of rebellion against societal standards and more like an arts and crafts project. And yes, punks should not spend more time on their hair than your aunt Linda. But as goofy as they are, you’ve got to respect a good mohawk. Because while they may be the tamest way to be a non-conformist, let’s face it, they look a lot cooler than your boring hairdo. Here are some of the most epic mohawks, tri-hawks, liberty spikes, and whatever miscellaneous pointy, brightly colored hairdos we saw at this year’s Punk Rock Bowling festival in Las Vegas.
