Nicole Hardesty.
Age: 16
Death: February of 2012
Method: electrocution
Face Claim: Nicole Hardesty
Willie says…
"She’s a feisty one, a newbie. She’s already made her name known, though."
✚ Life. ✚
Nicole grew up knowing the world was a shitty place. She was born in Lubbock and spent most of her time wishing she had a way out. Ending her own life had never occurred to her before her second year of high school, but after that she started to look into it more. Dying just seemed so much more appealing than continuing to live the life she’d been given. From a young age, Coley liked to live on the edge. She would ride dirt bikes and four wheelers with her older brothers and go out in the woods to shoot turkeys with her Dad instead of opting for a quiet game of make believe with her sister. She was the one that would go out and get cuts all over her face.
✚ Death. ✚
At sixteen, Coley was into some hard shit. She ran with a crowd her parents didn’t approve of and was high ninety nine percent of the time. She spent very little time sober and that was how she liked. When her mind was clear of the shit happening in her life - the brother that was in and out of prison, the brother that was in and out of rehab, and the sister that got everything in the world - she was at her happiest. She loved all of the crazy things that she and her friends would get into. It wasn’t until after she met Thayer that she started to realize how bad the life she was living was. He was everything she wanted and he took her for granted. Always taking advantage of her and often getting violent, he quickly turned into her biggest nightmare. He was five years older and five times stronger than her. She chose Valentine’s Day to end her life. She felt as though she couldn’t escape from Thayer and needed a way out. Her nose was broken and she had two black eyes, but she was determined to leave a beautiful corpse. She’d never been the type of girl to be interested in makeup so when she did finally use it, she did a terrible job, and just ended up making everything look worse. She drew herself a bath, poured in the bubbles, and made sure that her blowdryer was plugged in and turned on. Coley soaked there in the tub until the water got cold and then reached up, knocked the blowdryer into the tub, and got the shock of her life - except that it didn’t do what she wanted it to do. She was left with burns all over her arms and a hatred for everything. It took grabbing her nail file from the counter and shoving it into the electrical outlet for things to finally work out how she wanted them to, and slowly she passed as she lay on the floor of the bathroom and dripped water on the tile.
✚ Afterlife. ✚
Coley often wondered about her family and if they ever thought her suicide was just an accident. She didn’t leave a note even though she thought she should have. They were never technically bad parents, they just didn’t have enough time or attention to give to her, and they had no idea how to help her when she told them her first real boyfriend was abusing her. Her mother had always been the weak sort and her idea of helping was to tell her daughter that she should just wait it out and try not to anger him too much. She just didn’t understand. Nobody understood.
