don’t you love when life kicks your ass
I really can’t stand to see any posts about March for our lives
It’s just too bitter sweet for me. I can’t stop thinking about how black people had police in riot gear and military tanks show up to their peaceful protests with no news coverage at all
Whole neighborhoods were turned into war zones because black people said please stop killing us
Meanwhile predominately white children get to take center stage in national media coverage and no one as tear gased them yet. They get to speak to congress and actually be heard and not written off as worthless…
Look, I was at the march and if you think the military wasn’t there, you’re a fool.
If you think they only let white kids speak, you’re a fool.
All of these kids spoke at length about the disproportionate way gun violence affects their communities, so much so that it’s stopped making the news. I’m sick of the criticism I’m seeing from people who weren’t even there. The truth is that these kids knew that their march was mired in privilege (they talked about that, too!) and they used it to give POC youth leaders a platform to speak. They addressed problems with educational funding, they called out the school-to-prison pipeline that many of these cities have… And then I come here to see all of you cutting it down because “white kids” organized it. Are any of you paying attention?
i predict that when love, simon comes out a bunch of people on here are going to be bending over backwards to find parts of it that are “cringey” or not 100% in line with our 2018 views on gender and sexual politics, but like, that’s sorta the point? It’s a teen coming-of-age movie. That genre is by very definition cringey. I grew up with perks of being a wallflower, whip it, and juno. I still love those movies but i’ll be the first to admit that they have certain elements that are cringe-worthy. Even classics like ferris bueller and the breakfast club have their flaws looking back on them as an adult. I imagine love, simon will be just as cringey as the john green books and movies that people fawned over on this website for years. The point is, this isn’t meant to be some cinematic masterpiece that revolutionizes the gay film genre. It’s not going to win any oscars. It’s a bubblegum coming of age movie that’s made for teens, especially gay teens, to enjoy. If you’re a twenty-something and this movie feels juvenile or lacking nuance or silly to you, maybe that’s because it’s not for you. Let it be for the 13-year-old gay and questioning kids who have only ever seen themselves represented as the quirky bestfriend in coming of age narratives before, not the protagonist until now. Let it be for the young gay people who are burnt out on independent, artsy gay tragedies and just want to see themselves in a goofy popcorn flick for once. For all the corny, embarrassing romcoms straight teenagers get, don’t gay teens deserve one too? It’s not that deep.
If you considering adopting a pet, I suggest getting an adult or senior animal! Those animals need good homes and are less likely to be adopted than babies.
I know babies are cute but please, seniors especially need good homes.
i absolutely support march for our lives but please recongize how racism comes into play. the media never supported BLM like this, the public never did, and sure as hell not everyone marching today did. if you’re out there preaching for keeping kids safe from guns, u better not be forgetting all the black kids who have lost their lives to them from police.
Trump biographer Tim O’Brien talks about his years covering the developer turned reality star turned president—including a bizarre incident involving a fake impressionist painting.
This is really interesting, so Trump had this painting hanging in his private jet, where he was giving an interview. The reporter, recognizing the painting, asked Trump if it was an original Renoir, not because he didn’t know, but because he wanted to see if Trump would tell the truth.
Typically, Trump lied and said it was. The reporter than told him, no it’s not an original. Trump stuck to his lie, swearing it was. When the reporter told him that it was a copy of a very famous painting and the original was hanging in the Chicago Museum of Art, Trump stuck to his lie.
Even when presented with an easy to verify fact and a person who knows the truth, Trump continued to lie, to no end. They were the only people on the plane who were privy to the conversation, so Trump couldn’t exactly convince someone. The lie served no purpose, other than to boost Trump’s own ego (after all, had he just replied, “no it’s a copy, I just like the painting” no one would fault him for that), but Trump needed to be the guy who has a genuine Renoir in his private plane, even when he wasn’t.
And then, even after caught in the act, the very next day, Trump bragged to the same guy about the painting being real, with no prompting. They were on the plane again, and with no prompting, he pointed to the painting and said, to the guy who caught him lying about it just 24 hours earlier, “you see that? That’s a genuine Renoir”
For the record, here is the link to the picture at the Art Institute of Chicago. Interestingly, the Art Institute provides the provenance of the painting.
Ownership History
Sold by the artist to Durand-Ruel, Paris, July 7, 1881, for 1,500 francs. [1] Sent by Durand-Ruel, Paris, to Durand-Ruel, New York, 1922. [2] Sold by Durand-Ruel, New York, to Mrs. Lewis Larned (Annie Swan) Coburn, Chicago, Feb. 4, 1925, for $100,000. [3] Bequeathed by Mrs. Lewis Larned (Annie Swan) Coburn (died 1932) to the Art Institute of Chicago, 1933.
The original painting by Renoir, Two Sisters (on the Terrace) is not, nor was it ever, the property of Donald Trump.
To quote the article:
While this story is comical and sad and utterly bizarre on so many levels, it’s also emblematic of Trump’s very essence. “He believes his own lies in a way that lasts for decades,” O’Brien told me. “He’ll tell the same stories time and time again, regardless of whether or not facts are right in front of his face.”

black mirror season 4
Savage
This is super epic.
He was obnoxious to begin with, it is true, but if he moves forward in this wooing as a respectful dude, he will text her something nice like it was fun to meet her or maybe ask her on a date. Mom will text him back and there will be a bit of confusion before he realizes what happened. He’ll be a bit chagrined and mom will probably feel bad enough for him being rejected to make him cookies or something.
HOWEVER
If he starts in with that fuckboy shit (asking for sex right out the gate, dick picks, asking for nudes, etc.), he will learn the ultimate lesson.
In short, he is only fucked if he fucks himself.
This is Greek Mythology levels of savage.

LET 👏 RETAIL 👏 EMPLOYEES 👏 SIT 👏
The only major chain retail store that I know of that allows their cashiers to sit is the Aldi grocery store, a German chain. Their starting pay is also $12 an hour chain-wide.
The interior of the store looks like this so they save money on the annoying shelf restocking. Products remain in their boxes until being removed by customers. No unboxing and putting stuff on shelves, and constantly having to rearrange it. Also, the boxes make inventory a breeze as a sealed box has a defined number of items in it.
Typical American grocery stores have shelves like this
Every item has to be unboxed and neatly stacked on the shelves. If they get messed up by the customers, everything has to be rearranged back to specific rigid order. When you have to verify the inventory, every item has to be removed from the shelves to be counted and put back. Aldi’s also do not have plastic bags. You can buy reusable bags or simply use the empty cardboard boxes that are available.
Last is the carts. Most grocery stores have their carts strewn across the parking lots, rolling around and hitting cars until a store employee is sent out to collect them, after being yelled at by the manager when they were told to do other tasks in the meantime. Aldi’s chains those carts together and you have to put a Quarter in to release it. When you are done, you plug the chain back in and get your Quarter back. If others are lazy, you can collect and return the loose carts and collect the Quarters.
It stops this…
Then the employees have to do this
WAIT you don’t have chained carts in the US? WHAT?
I knew about retail employees needing to stand, but I didn’t know about those poor untethered carts. Wow.
There are plastic bags, you pay ten cents each if you want them
direct action in the us: steal the fucking carts (seriously tho shopping carts are so useful how come ppl don’t just steal them)
The shopping carts often have wheels that lock if brought outside of the parking lot. Though shopping carts are stolen from the stores that dont have them, particularly by houseless people who need something to transport their belongings in.
I know that’s right, Tiff! Don’t you just love her?
SN: We need her and Maya in a movie together pronto!
YES! I was so happy to see her in that dress again tonight! She really mean it when she say she wearing that thing out!
Also this dress:
Black Panther becomes the 33rd film to cross the 1 Billion mark and is Marvel Studios’ 5th movie to do so. Also becoming the highest grossing film made by a black director (Ryan Coogler) in history.
as you get older, you realize that you’re not always right and there’s so many things you could’ve handled better, so many situations where you could’ve been kinder and all you can really do is forgive yourself and let your mistakes make you a better person.
