"I'll make sure they don't come after you..."
Now Hermione knew she must have a hearing problem. “You want me to tutor you?” She shook her head in disbelief. “Never thought I’d hear you ask for my help…”
"Yeah, well, desperate times call for desperate measures. Like I said, I really can't fail." Pansy bit her lip nervously, "So are you in? I can pay you or whatever. The only rule I have is that you can't tell a soul."
"I know enough to know I don’t want any part in any of it…"Â
"Noah.."
Hermione looked shocked, to say the least, lowering her voice. “You…need my help? With what?” Looks at the girl, what in the world would make her ask for her help?
"I'm failing Transfiguration. And I need to pass all my OWLs. I was hoping you might be able to...tutor..me."Â Pansy struggled to bite back any retorts, forcing a smile instead.Â
Looks at her, wide eyed. “What in the world do you want, Parkinson?” Has her hand on her wand just in case, staring at her.
"Keep your voice down," she hisses through gritted teeth. There was no way she could let anyone overhear them. "I--" She took a deep breath and swallowed her pride, "I need your help."
"They’ll have bigger problems than me. I doubt anyone would even care."
"You know way too much for any of them just let you off the hook.."
Hermione turned around quickly as a door opened behind her. She’d just been looking through her bag. Curiously she looks at the open door. “Hello?” She calls out, wondering who opened it, maybe it was Peeves.
Pansy quickly held out her arm and grabbed Hermione's robes, pulling her into the closet before anyone could see the exchange that took place. Â "Lumos," she whispered, lightning up the dark space. "Don't jinx me, Granger."
"I don’t want to fight! Fighting- I can’t win fucking fights like that, I’m not an idiot. But I don’t have to! One more year? One more after this one and I am done. No more parents, no more fucking dark arts bullshit, I’m out. And no one can stop me."Â
"They'll find you, Noah. They'll find you and it'll be even worse."
"I can handle myself. Just because everyone thinks we’re the bad guys? Doesn’t mean we have to be."
"And what, we join Potter's team of prats and stop You-Know-Who? People like us don't get the happy endings. Are you really willing to fight against your parents? Or the parents of all those you've grown up with? Tell me that."
"If I’m your friend, then why the hell are you threatening me, Pansy? I get enough of that shit at home. I don’t need that here too."Â
"Better me threatening you than others killing you for something they might overhear!"
"If you really beileve that, you’re as bad as the rest of them…"Â
"I'm not--You can't say that, Noah.. You're my friend, I care about you."
"I— I don’t have to play along here. I can say what I think. Are you going to go get Malfoy? Make him curse me? Gonna do it yourself?"Â
"And what if I did? It would be for your own good."
"We should be able to change things."
"I'm sorry, I didn't realize I stopped talking to Richards and started talking to Potter. Do you realize what could happen if someone overheard you?"
"Just about fear then, right?"Â
"Does it matter, hm? Is that going to change anything?"
Snape's Office
Zach was reminded of the reason he came here, to get revenge for what she did to him. A burst of anger shot through him and he had to resist acting on it. “Yeah, that reminds me, what are you planning on doing to make up for that?” He had to fold his arms across his chest to keep from balling his fists. Pansy had already seen the effect she had on him and he refused to let her get the better of him. “Maybe you should’ve thought about that before inviting me into your dorm. All I have to do is make a little noise and everyone will wake up. What will happen to your precious reputation then? I don’t believe you’re as cruel as you’d like me to believe. Say one nice thing about me and I’ll leave.” To further goad her, he plants his feet firmly on the ground, showing her that he has no intentions of leaving unless she physically makes him.
With a quirk of an eyebrow and a smirk on her lips, Pansy relished as she knew what she was about to do. He needed to be taken down even further, apparently. "No," she said as she took a step towards him. "There is no way in hell that I will say anything nice about you. You want to know why that is, little Smith?" She took yet another step, further lessening the distance between herself and the blonde boy. "Because there is just nothing exceptional when it comes to you." She started to take little steps around him, judging him up and down as she did so. She wanted to make him feel small, insignificant for even thinking that he could threaten someone like her. It just didn't happen. "There's way hotter guys at this school who actually have something to offer. When you take your half-mediocre appearance away.. well, what else have you really got? No brains, no talent, not even any friends. Pity." Pansy said the last word with a surge of power mixed with anger, and she finished her speech standing directly in front of Zacharias, a self-satisfied smile on her pink lips. She felt her blood pumping and she was a little out of breath, but that felt better to her than almost anything else.
"Having a bad day? Or is it just your period?"
"Actually concerned? Or still just a giant moron?"
"Or… Smart guy that hoped he had smarter friends."Â
"This isn't about intelligence, Richards. It's never been."
