since when were you a dogmate…
— @the-bestcaptain-red
(The dogmate did not understand. They circled around the captain a few times, sniffing them before lying on the ground, belly up, tail wagging.)
(Worm also coughed up impostor blood, but it only made worms tail wag faster, for some reason.)
…wait wait wait petmates aren’t even ALLOWED on the ships!!
…I guess you’re not really doing any harm..
Wroof!
(Green suddenly barked at Red before forcing their head into their leg.)
*Purple was staring at the mostly useless Security cameras, watching for literally anything that could tell them who the murderer is. They saw Green walk up to Security, who then knocked on the door.*
What do you need, Green? *Purple half-shouted through the door.*
- @purple-binoculars
[honestly have no idea what to say but we have negative asks so.]
(Green flinched back audibly at Purple's voice, almost backing into Reactor from their reaction.)
Hey, Purple. I... just wanted to check in on you. You haven't left Security all day, and... well, maybe you have, but I haven't seen you around. Yellow and Brown made pasta, it's been out for a while, and... don't you think you should at least eat?
(This was mostly true. It was past dinner time, and the line cooks had retreated into the kitchen for the night (or, at least, it was night in Central Industria time), but Purple did take their job very seriously. A bit too seriously. It was just cameras. Maybe it was just because they were an intern, but they didn't see the point in being so surveillant of others when one would be neglecting oneself to do so.)
*Purple checked the time, having hardly realized what time it is until now. They knew they should probably eat, but they also didn't want anyone else to die. They sat in silence, debating this for a little bit, before they got up and opened the door to Security.*
(Green studied Purple for just a second too long.)
You... don't have anything to say? I mean... nothing wrong with that. Nobody's in the Cafeteria, but, uh... should I come with you?
(One of worms feet began tapping against the ground rapidly. It was late. Barely anyone had any business on this side of the ship, except for Lime, who had probably buried themselves deep in the vents. They were vulnerable. It wouldn't take much to... Green's thoughts came away in a thick sludge. Nevermind. It wasn't a good idea to try anything like this. Besides, Purple was much nicer alive.)
Sure, I guess. Really wouldn't mind either way, though.
*Purple noticed Green seemed a little nervous, but didn't ask anything yet. They weren't entirely sure why Green was nervous, but figured it had something to do with the actual murderer on the ship, and in a way they weren't wrong.*
Alright. Well, let's go.
(They started walking in silence, not sure what there was to say to Purple. It was really only a short walk to the Cafeteria, but it felt like it could have lasted forever. Should they say something? It'd probably be weird of them to continue in silence just after offering Purple company. But, worm decided, if Purple wanted to talk, they'd start the conversation.)
(They passed by Upper Reactor silently.)
*Purple followed Green through the skeld hallways, deciding to ask something.*
Hey, you seemed a little nervous back there, why is that?
Oh, really? I dunno. Just... worried about you.
(They looked down at the floor. It felt silly, especially considering what they had intended to do, but it was true. Even if it wasn't actual care for Purple's health, a depressed crewmate would have been boring to kill.)
I mean, I know a lot's going on. This isn't how I wanted to spend my first days on a ship, and you... well. I get the feeling you hold some resentment for being here to begin with. It's hard to be around all this and unable to do anything about it.
Thanks, it... it really means a lot.
*They felt a little less alone now. Spaceships were lonely, especially so when the only person Purple knew was Red, who they absolutely hated.*
They page around behind Purple before getting the heart to tap their shoulder. “Violet?”
from: @the-lavenders-lament
(OOC: ohmmm geee hi! I’m actually a red fictive sharing front with the host-)
*Purple shot up at the sudden touch, looking behind themself instinctually. They weren't sure if they should correct Lavender, as while they didn't particularly mind it right now they knew they sometimes do, although they weren't sure why their preference on their old name fluctuated so much. Although Lavender did usually just call them by their old name anyways, so it probably wouldn't do much.*
Oh!- Hey Lavenderr..
They squeeze Purple with extreme vigor. “I’m so glad I got aboard somehow, I was worried…” They seem so much more comfortable and excited than they usually are. They pat Purple on the back, a different hand patting in… 3 places? How is that possible?
Yeah, the comms have been down for a while now... Uh- you alright? You're acting off. Actually, better question, how are you patting my back in 3 different places at once?
Quickly, the third “limb” patting Purple retracts. “You’re crazy, purps,” they say, their voice cracking a little bit.
Wuh- Hey, I'm not crazy! Probably just sleep deprived or something.
*Purple said, not particularly appreciating being called crazy. They hadn't been getting a lot of sleep lately, so its possible it was that, but they weren't crazy.*
”Really? Why not?” They look concerned. There’s just the slightest little crack in their visor that wasn’t there before. What’s going on?
What do you MEAN "why not??"
*Then, Purple noticed the crack. They hesitated a little bit, before speaking again*
Something's going on. Are you okay? There's- there's a crack in your visor.
They feel the crack, their visor shooting to a face of sheer panic. “O-oh! It must be nothing, Purps.” You’d always shrugged off your siblings strange actions. The randomly disappearing (usually walking too fast and quietly you thought)x the forgetfulness they seem to possess, their slight anger issues, but now, after Orange, these things start to sit wrong with you.
*Some part of Purple wanted to keep ignoring it, as it was what they were always like, but it still felt wrong. Not to mention visors don't generally crack spontaneously. For a moment, it felt like Purple was arguing with their own thoughts.*
I don't think it's nothing, I could've sworn that wasn't there before. Visors don't just randomly crack without a reason.
“I swear, Vi- …Purple. I swear nothings going on. Please believe me… I have no idea what’s gone down here, but I need your trust.”
They seem shaken, but are trying to keep on that good old fashioned ‘Lavender’ Aloofness about them.
No, something's going on. Just tell me what's happening.
*Purple was getting somewhat upset that Lavender wouldn't tell them what was going on. They felt a small, almost sad feeling in the back of their mind, but they hardly noticed it in the face of their own emotions.*
”…fine. But you have to promise with your whole heart that you won’t freak out, ok?” They take a deep breath.
Alright. I- I won't.
*Purple wasn't sure about this, but they had to stay calm. Surely it couldn't be that bad... right?*
They sigh heavily. “I’m an imposter. Alien, murderer, whatever you want to call me… p-please don’t be mad!”
*Purple sat there for a moment, trying to process what they just heard. At this point in time, they didn't know the imposters were parasites yet, so in their mind they were either an imposter too and somehow didn't know it or the imposter had simply shapeshifted to look like Lavender. But why would they admit it if it was the latter? Nothing made sense anymore.*
I- What...?
*They finally said after a few minutes.*
They sigh dramatically, and start to explain. “I’m not exactly the original Lavender… b-but that doesn’t mean I’m evil! I’m an alien, but I HATE to kill! I- … I never got better. Or, well, Lavender never got better”
They seem so nervous. This must hurt to say.
*Purple was still confused, now somewhat more than before.*
What... happened? Does anyone else know?
”Our parents… they, they took me in and we all agreed that Lavender wasn’t going to live long and it would be merciful if I- … they couldn’t bare to tell you they died. So I became Lavender. I’m still the same person you’ve known since you were 8 years old! Just, I’m, not the original. I’m an… imposter. B-but I’d never hurt you, or anyone! Im the one that got you Heracles! We had that stupid catchphrase whenever we’d go out exploring, it’s me, Vi.”!
they seem so… indistinguishable emotionally. You can’t tell how they feel. It’s driving you insane. Their tendrils finally actually appear, but they’re so much weaker than Orange’s were. Their mouth just… quivers instead of killing. They seem a moments notice from vanishing into thin air.
*They still seemed to be having a hard time believing this, though they seemed less confused.*
I- sorry, this is just... hard to process. I... I believe you, though.
*Strangely, a part of them felt almost connected to what Lavender was saying. They didn't know why, they had never experienced anything remotely similar, but they still did.*
*Purple was staring at the mostly useless Security cameras, watching for literally anything that could tell them who the murderer is. They saw Green walk up to Security, who then knocked on the door.*

They page around behind Purple before getting the heart to tap their shoulder. “Violet?”

*Purple was staring at the mostly useless Security cameras, watching for literally anything that could tell them who the murderer is. They saw Green walk up to Security, who then knocked on the door.*
What do you need, Green? *Purple half-shouted through the door.*
