I’m sorry I just gotta talk about this program now that I’ve tried it out
Simple and easy tools to use and understand if you’ve used some kind of art program before
Easy to access and download new brushes and patterns
Cloud service for your drawings and projects. ALSO group projects?? Like damn son that’s some good stuff
Built in and easy to use perspective grids
Preset documents for making comics
Available on about every single modern device (sorry linux)
And best of all it’s COMPLETELY FREE??
I don’t know about you but I believe this is the best program I’ve ever seen for both illustration and comic making I’m just sayin
i feel like this feature would be rad for doing art deco pieces???

following my meme post the other day, and talking to friends further on the subject of fat characters in art, especially in fandom, i figured some people might like a tutorial on how to draw them.

Yeah Bc some of y'all walking around looking like Steve Harvey and Cedric the entertainer back in the day.
I love this post
This is important.
This is good.
Hey jsyk it’s 2018 and if you’re still drawing characters with big lips like THIS, even if they’re pale/not black, it’s fucking racist. Stop doing it.
No excuses. “It’s a stylistic choice!” It’s a RACIST stylistic choice.
“Idk how else to draw big lips!” That’s because you relied on racist caricatures and are a bad artist. Teach yourself. Learn. If you’re not willing to do that, then you are a bad, racist artist.
“But it’s part of the character design!” Yeah, and it’s racist. If it’s your OC, then change it. If it’s not your OC, make the right choice and draw them with normal looking bigger lips instead of this racist monstrosity.
And if this post makes you uncomfortable because it’s calling you out for stuff you’ve done, good. Fix it. Own up to it. Grow.
If you see this and you’re first thought is to defend this: you are racist. You are part of the problem. Congrats. Now work on yourself and unlearn that.
Here’s how to do it right:
(some troll gave me shit about only providing overly “feminine” examples. I would have been happy to ignore them…but there are so many great examples on how to draw perfectly acceptable (not racist) full-lipped male characters, in the end, I couldn’t resist.)
Since this is making the rounds again, I’m reblogging the version with both sets of examples.

You can now follow Incidental Comics on Instagram to see my black and white sketchbook drawings and further experiments with watercolor.
This made me chuckle, but the last one, with the green, made me laugh.
Small Tips For ClipStudio
I have some hours before work so I’ll use them to actually detail why I’ve found CSPaint to be so efficient for bastard-aligned painters who like to take shortcuts.
This will seem familiar to most of you guys, but this functions a little bit different from Photoshop. It turns everything you draw on the layer into editable curves, but retains the aliased smoothness of an ordinary raster layer. Practically a cheat to access the whole suite of amazing tools CS offers for lineart. Such as:
The vector eraser is The Best™. You can be as messy as possible and this tool erases the excess. One pen-flick and it’s done. Much faster than cleaning it up by hand. You can also tweak the settings of this brush to encapsulate more/less lines as you erase but that’s getting a little more involved. Anyway, last thing:
Maybe the only thing better than the vector eraser. There are multiple settings, but these three are the most handy. You can smooth wiggly edges, connect broken strokes, and tweak the width/weight to exactly how you want it. This also has a ton of settings you can play around with. It’s great!
There’s a lot more tools you can use, but you get the point! It’s a really good drawing program. I recommend it!
guess whos abt to throw photoshop in the garbage
something I accidentally discovered today! (I’d imagine a lot of color theory stuff was involved with computer fonts that makes them readable and not all pixelated)
Just in case you forget this exists.
It exists.
With those “when you want to design a character but you don’t know color theory” posts flying around I thought this would be relevant again.
SLAMs THE REBLOG BUTTON
there’s also Coolors website that gives you randomized palettes!
Don’t forget ColourLovers, either! It’s a social media-esque site where you can browse tons of palettes and share your own.
You can browse the most popular ones or search for certain colors, themes, and even specific hex codes!
When you find one you like, you can download a wallpaper swatch of it and also select the specific colors it uses to look at more palettes that use those same ones.
ColourLovers is my go-to for when I’m having trouble coming up with a color scheme! It’s also been around for over a decade, so there’s plenty to browse through.
How to Draw With your Fucking Eyes and Not Your Fucking Brain
Basic sketching tips

hey, so now that there’s an influx of black roman art, here’s some tips for drawing black people, from a black person Tip 1: black lips tend to be about the same size, unlike most white lips where the top lip is thinner than the bottom lip. Here’s a comparison of the two
Tip 2: black lips also have this thing where the bottom lip is either lighter than the top lip, or pinker than the top lip. of course, there are exceptions to this. but that’s a good guide to follow. Tip 2.5: do not do this shit shown in ref below. it’s inaccurate and has racist connotations. don’t do it.
Tip 3. Hands! Black hands! The insides of our palms are lighter than the outsides. (Same with the bottoms our feet)
(ps, this is the one i’m most lenient on because sometimes even i forget to do this. i’m not as hard on this than the aforementioned lip things) Tip 3: hairstyles. this is the one i think y’all need help with the most. y’all are giving roman some wack ass cuts and i am disappointed in all of y’all. anyways, look up some black hairstyles and reference those. cause unlike a lot of y’all think, we do have variety in our hairstyles that aren’t either afros or 80′s box cuts. here’s some haircuts that i like
Not a tip, but personally, i think roman would fucking LOVE the hairstyles with the wild ass shave-line designs. like these:
they’re just so funky and i think he’d love them and just keep getting new patterns every time he goes to the barber shop. take note that this isn’t a complete and concrete tutorial on how to draw black people, and i can’t control people’s headcanons on what hairstyle roman or any of the other sides would chose. plus, there are plenty of more guides that you can reference from too, like this one, this one, and this one. but i made one specifically for fanders cause a lot of you are predominately white and have no idea how to draw black characters (not calling anyone out or trying to diss anyone, you probably just haven’t had enough practice yet and it’s not like you can look in the mirror or at your brother and try to reference from those things like i can), so i just decided to make a guide. don’t be afraid to make mistakes and try to listen to black people’s input, that’s how you can learn. have fun drawing black roman and making racists mad lmao.
appears it has some use for fellow artists sooo
