When Prince picks U 2 dance with….
We can kick it, baby— Joint 2 Joint
I had to do it
He got a stank ass walk and a reckless ass mouffff
A grimanced captured Michael’s features as soon as he regained consciousness. Morning-time, bleh. He wasn’t a lazy person, but he did enjoy sleep. He had sheets with 1000 thread-count, and they held him in their embrace for 8 hours. It was hard for him to pull himself From them. They reminded him if the embrace from a woman—warm, smooth, and soft. After painfully prying himself from the warmth of the sheets, he slung his lanky legs over the edge of the mattress. Sliding his feet into his slippers, he stood to his feet and stretched.
The musician padded over to the windows and opened the curtains. The sunlight hit him, but it wasn’t blinding. He cracked his windows to inhale nature’s fresh air, and turned on his heel to get ready for the day. The music was blaring through the speakers of Neverland, and he could hear the joyful laughter of childeren & the scolding voices of parents. The fun started without him, and he had to get ready to make an appearance.
He grabbed a shower, and wrapped the towel around his waist as he freshened uo in the mirror. The mirror wasn’t his favorite thing in the world, but it was needed to make sure he was presentable. He fixed his hair, shaved, brished his teeth, and put on deoderant. Once he felt fresh and clean, he then proceeded to get dressed. Since he was little, he was used to having his clothes laid out on the bed for him—so he got into the habit of doing it himself. He slipped on black slacks, white socks, a red button-down shirt, and black loafers.
Loafers weren’t ‘fun’ shoes, but they’ become ‘fun’ shoes for him. Heck, he did whole tours in them since The late 70s. After getting dressed, he grabbed his fedora and slid it on.
Padding into the kitchen, he gave his chef a polite nod and sat at the table. He ate a quick—Breakfast of bacon, eggs, and waffles before drinking a glass of milk. Afterwards, he popped a mint into his mouth and headed outside. A song tore its way from his throat as he absorbed the joy that Neverland had to offer.
He could see his friends in the distance, and excitement was bubbling up from within him to join them. He was happily walking over when he spotted one if the figures in the distance point to him. All the other figured turned, and then he saw silhouettes of waving hands—Beckoning him to join them. Being a people-pleaser, he couldn’t keep taking forever. He began to jog until he reached the crowd, and had his legs attacked by joyful youth. They gave him hugs, and he squatted down to return them. It was Brett, Mac, Taj, TJ, Tarryl, and others.
“Now that you’re here,” Mac announced with a mistevious glint in his eyes—“Tag, you’re it, Apple-Head!” He tapped Michael on his head and the air was promptly filled with the squeals of triumphant children. He fondly shook his head and jogged after the group.
Vogue—L'Uomo Vogue..what an experience. Michael had been so preoccupied with the recent tribulations in his life, that he hadn’t been working as much. So, he was surprised when his agent proposed to him to shoot for Vogue. Michael had been doing photoshoots all his life, But this one was definitely a new world—even this late in the game. It was still fun, but you could see that they meant business. They got him on a few sets, a few outfit changes, and alot of attitude. This was a new era for him, and he meant business. Vogue meant business too.
Nomatter how much he wished to the stars, Neverland just didn’t feel the same anymore. Neverland had been tianted by evil, and was nolonger his sanctuary from the cold world. It was no longer a gift that he could share with his fans.
For the first time, His troubles Did not leave him at the gates; His troubles followed him inside, pulling at him.. crawling all over him like an evil insect. Although the worst of everything was over, he was still left to wonder... was it over?
He was now between a rock and a hardplace. He didn’t want to completely abandon Neverland—he had an attatchment to it. However, he could now dwell there—not anymore. The magic was gone.. and him feeling this way just confirmed that the initial мagιc that lived here was a gift from God. Maybe he had other plans for the future.
Michael’s large hands were balled up in the pockets of his jeans—he relaxed them. He had to let the tension exit out of him.. in the puffs of water-vapor in the air—he sent his troubles out of his system. Maybe he’d let Neverland’s music and lights lull him to sleep once more.. ✨
Michael had been gone from the scene for a while, so he had to try something new. He was trying to re-invent himself, but also stay true to his essence. He changed his hair up—and it was short. This wasn’t the first time he donned a short cut, but it was certainly time again.
Anyways, onto the vision: The vision for this shoot was ‘runway’, but he ended up with a different outcome. He gave more ‘cosmic energy’ with the finished product, and he couldn’t be happier with the result.
It was still hard for him to look at himself in photos; His critical eyes picked himself apart—as most people do. Seeing himself in a cool costume, or with cook effects made it sting alittle less..
He liked to play with the crowd—that was his favorite part. When he stepped on stage, the mask went on. He loved to play with the crowd with his facial expressions—contorting his face to evoke emotion. If he wanted them to laugh, he knew how to make it happen. If he wanted to pull at the heart strings, he knew how to do that as well. When he was on stage, he was an actor. These times, he was Christopher Tracy—the fella from his latest film. All his fans loved to meet Christopher when they came to watch him play.

Chapter 1: Vacation
The year was 1971 and little Michael was already a star in his own right. He wasn’t ungrateful, but times were hard for him. You see, he was always on the road, and the boy just wanted some sleep.
He’d just gotten done traveling back home from tour, and he was excited to be home. Home was where his pet rats were. Home was where his motorbikes were. Home was where bright sunshine and peace was, and that’s where he wanted to be.
Michael wasn’t thinking about being a star like how older stars would think. He was just thinking about how he’d been singing since he could remember, and how people had always made a big deal out of such a natural act. And now that natural act made him a star. There were flashing lights, screaming girls, and so much input coming into his senses at once. He was grateful for being out of the poor, but he was also overwhelmed sometimes.
He just wanted to do what he loved to do and to be a normal kid too, but that obviously must be too much to ask. His weary eyelids closed as he finally settled into his own bed. Nothing felt better than having your own blankets against your skin as you looked at your own posters and memorabilia. But for Michael, that was a luxury he wasn’t always able to have.
Although he only had a week of freedom, it was better than nothing. He still had to do his vocal exercises, but he had no other obligations to attend to—that was nice. With these thoughts in his mind, Michael went to bed with excitement for the next day.
Chapter 2: Visitors
The next day came, and Michael was excited to greet the day. He stretched his hands over his head and relaxed as his joints popped.
He swung his feet over the side of the bed and stood up. Just as he was slipping his feet into his slippers, there was a knock at his door.
“Michael!” Called Janet. “Could we go outside? Mother said I could go if you take me!” Janet begged, causing Michael to smile. “Yeah, Dunk! I’ll be right there!”
After picking out his outfit for the day, Michael showered, got dressed, and then descended the stairs of his home. “Hey mother,” Michael cooed as he gave his dear mother a kiss on her cheek.
She’d finished making pancakes, and had the table set up for all who was home. Michael, Marlon, Janet, and Rebbie were the only ones home. Everyone else had gone to some industry party that Motown was throwing. Michael could have went, but he’d instead opted for the first day of his break to be spent doing what /he/ wanted to do, and not what was expected of him.
The sound of pattering feet caused Michael to smile as Janet toddled into the kitchen. “Hey, Dunk!” Marlon greeted his younger sister before picking her up and placing her on the chair. Everyone then ate their breakfast, touched bases and went their separate ways.
Michael picked Janet up and carried her outside on his hip where the pair was going to play in the pool. Just as Michael changed into his swimming trunks and climbed into the pool, he was greeted by the loud laughter of his brothers.
“Oh look, there’s Michael!” Jermaine walked over to Michael and clapped him on the back. Michael felt the contact, but his attention was elsewhere. What was with all these girls coming into their backyard. All the girls were around his skintone, big afros—really pretty girls. But one seemed to be around his age. His observations aside, what was going on? Why were they here?
“Hey, Jermaine. What’s goin’ on? Did mother say y’all could have company?” Jermaine happened to be babbling off about something, but he stopped when he noticed that Michael wasn’t paying him much attention.
“Oh them? They’re our new neighbors. We were walkin’ up when we saw them and we’re just bein’ friendly, Mike.” Jermaine knows how Michael feels about his dealings with women—and wanted to put his brother at ease. But he wouldn’t say that he didn’t have any intentions on getting back to his old habits.
“Oh, okay!” Michael immediately perked up as he heard about new neighbors. He always wanted to have new kids to play with. In his thinking, he didn’t notice the girls leaving and coming back with a few more kids his age. They were clad in bathing suits and swimming trunks, and they were coming over to him.
Chapter 3: Nice to meet ya!
“Hi!” A boy spoke to him. “I’m Tommy! I’m 8!” The boy chirped. “Hi,” Michael replied before looking over at the girl who was now speaking. “Hi! I’m Ebony” The girl spoke. “Sorry for Tommy being so loud. He’s always on a sugar rush. I’m Tommy’s older sister.” She extended her hand that Michael took.
“How old are ya?” Michael asked her. “Twelve!” She replied proudly, causing Michael to giggle with amusement. “I’m Thirteen. I’m Michael,” He spoke. “I know,” she grinned before pushing Michael into the pool. Everyone squealed, including Michael who rose up with an indignant glare. He splashed her back, causing her to squeal before she giggled and dove in after him.
Tommy, filled with excitement—he jumped into the pool and joined the pair. This was great, Michael could see his summer break going well with his new friends. It was rarely a time where Michael got to hang around kids his own age, and he was so excited to finally start having fun.
The three played for a while, as Janet tossed random toys into the water to watch them float. Once it start getting dark, Michael & co had to dry off because Ebony, Tommy, and their family was about to get ready to leave.
“I had fun. I can’t wait to see you guys tomorrow. Will you two be playin’ outside?” Michael asked.
“Yeah!” Ebony spoke back. “It was nice meetin’ you, Mike!” He smiled as he gave both of them a hug.
A smile graced his features as Michael watched Ebony, Tommy and co walk off. He’d finally made a new friend. Maybe this break wouldn’t be as lonely as he’d originally thought it’d be.
Chapter 4: Cooking? You?
(Slight Time-Skip. The story will be consecutive later)
“Michael! Shhh!” Ebony whisper-yelled into the receiver. Here she was: Huddled into a ball, receiver in hand, and international pop-star on the other end.
You see, Michael was supposed to have his full break, but something had come up. Apparently, there was a movie about a mouse that was coming out. How did that involve him you say? Well, Michael was slotted to do the track for the movie. The song was entitled ‘Ben’.
Anyways, Michael was across the country and away from his friend. Ebony and Michael had become great friends—she came to visit him often and she always brought him some of her homemade cookies. She wanted to learn to bake like her mother, and apparently Michael was her designated taste-tester. A conversation about her first batch of cookies is what had the pair of pre-teens on the floor, attempting to suppress their laughter.
“It wasn’t even that bad!” She whisper-yelled.
“Yeah, right! I almost lost a tooth, E!”
“You still ate it!” She whined in her defense. How dare he make fun of her?
“I had no choice!” He laughed as he leaned against the wall of his hotel room.
“Yeah, Yeah. So what are you up to, Mr.Star?”
“Just got in from being in the studio. I’m not supposed to be talkin’ much, but we can talk now. I’m supposed to be drinkin’ tea and restin’ my voice. They told me the song was done, so I don’t know why I have to do all that,” Michael sighed.
He was glad he finally had a real friend, someone he could vent to an that would listen. He was also glad he had his own hotel room. Michael was so used to piling up with his brothers on the road. Everything was so much better once they got signed with Motown.
“Well, maybe they’ll have a show for you to do or somethin’.”
“Maybe,” He shrugged, popping a piece of bubblegum into his mouth. “How is everybody? You enjoyin’ school?”
“Everyone is okay, and it’s boring. I wish I was traveling and stuff like you are.”
“It’s fun sometimes,” Michael admitted. “Sometimes I’m just tired.”
Ebony pouted at the sadness in her friend’s voice. “Remember our plans though! When you get back? We’re gonna ride our new bikes together! And remember the party your parents always throw?”
“Yeah!” Michael perked up immediately. “It’s gonna be so much fun, E. I can’t wait. But I should get to sleep. I have press in the morning.”
“Booo!” She spoke into the receiver.
“Boo you! Night, E.”
“G’night, Applehead.” He shook her head and stood to her feet. An audible ‘click’ could be heard as she placed the phone back onto the receiver and stretched her joints. Once everything was just the way she found it, she then began to creep upstairs. She climbed under her blankets and was out like a light.
Michael hung up the phone and spit-out the bubblegum into the trash. Snuggling up to his stuffed Mickey-Mouse, he went to bed with a small smile. Atleast he had some normalcy with Ebony’s family. They welcomed him like their own and didn’t treat him different because of who he was. They had no idea how much he appreciated it.
Chapter 6:
“Toya!” Cried a chorus of dainty female voices. Latoya herded all her guests in with equally-enthusiastic greetings.
All the girls tipped in with gift bags in tow. Michael shook his head as he watched them all slide in. He was watching form the kitchen when he spotted Ebony come in. Wait a minute, did Ebony get her hair done? Usually, Ebony wore her hair in an afro. Sometimes, she pressed it, but hardly ever. This time, it was pressed and her face was framed with a veil of cascading curls.
He felt his heart jump in his chest, shaking him to his core. He and Ebony had been friends for 3 years now, and he’s been having that reaction to seeing her as of late.
“Applehead!” She cheered. He blinked, and she was in his face, pinching and pulling on his cheeks. He playfully swatted at her hands.
“What are you doin’ here? I thought ‘Toys was inviting pretty girls.” He smirked playfully before shoving her shoulder. She looked sad for a moment.
“W-wait,” Michael stuttered before she laughed and shoved him back. “You snooze, you lose, asshole!”
“Hey!” Michael laughed before chasing Ebony to Latoya’s room. Once Ebony got within the confines of Latoya’s room, she shut the door in Michael’s face and howled in laughter.
Latoya was sitting on the bed, watching the two knowingly. Michael always insisted that he and Ebony were nothing more than friends, but Latoya knew her brother. She knew that Michael had a crush on Ebony. She’s not sure about how Ebony feels about him, but only time would tell. Besides, it gave her something to be newsy about.
“You girls ready to manicures?” Latoya shouted. “Yeah!” Came the chorus of girly voices as they all made their way to the center of Latoya’s bedroom.
Chapter 7:
As soon as Ebony shut the door in his face, Michael laughed and shook his head. Damn! He’d get her later. He turned his head to spot Marlon peaking from out of his bedroom. “You almost got ‘em, Mike.”
“Yeah,” Michael agreed before walking away from Latoya’s door. He had no idea how he’d get Ebony back, but he’d figure it out. Besides, he wanted Ebony to come out and hang with him. Ebony started as Michael’s friend. But as they got alittle older, Kathrine then started trying to push her to be closer with Latoya. People thought Ebony was becoming too much of a tomboy, and they wanted her to be all dainty and shit. Michael just wanted his friend back.
He was a busy guy, and it was nice to have someone to talk to and hang with. He could call her while he was overseas and hear about her school life; She helped him decorate his room; and plus she could cook! Michael was her first taste-tester, and now she’s some kind of expert. They’re both 15 going on 16, and she’s already such a culinary genius.
Kathrine was also taking Ebony under her wing and teaching her how to sew. There were plenty of times that Michael would emerge from his too to see Ebony and Kathrine hunched over a sewing machine. They’d actually made some of their outfits from their last few TV appearances.
Michael slunk down the hall into his bedroom, and began rummaging through his TV stations. Great! The Three Stooges were on! He grabbed himself a snack and continued to watch his shows.
Off The Wall Era: Chapter 8
The year was now 1979, and Michael was a solo artist. He’d released his debut album entitled: ‘Off The Wall’, and it was a hit. It wasn’t getting the recognition it deserved, but he had fun making it. Besides, working on the album gave him the ability to solidify himself as a solo artist.
He did some solo tracks with Motown, and of course he was the lead singer. However, working on his own solo album was a completely different animal.
And although he had released his solo album, he was still on tour with his brothers. But this time, Ebony was accompanying them.
She was officially on his team as a designer and a fashion coordinator. She was really skilled at custom-designing outfits for the boys, and she really enjoyed what she did.
“Stop moving, Applehead,” she scolded Michael as she fixed the hem of his pants. He was stood spread-out as Ebony conducted a fitting.
The guys moved and danced alot on tour, and she wanted to make sure that the clothes held up. And no one was harder on their clothes than Michael and Marlon. Marlon, with his extra attention-grabbing movements, And Michael with his hard dancing.
“That should work,” she announced to the room. “Y’all gon’ ‘head and change back now.” A sigh could be heard from the guys as they began to change back into their normal clothing. Ebony gathered her materials and left the room to give the boys privacy.
The sun immediately glared in her face, causing her to slip her sunglasses onto her face. She loved her job, but she hated the California sun. She’d always hated the CA weather, ever since she’d moved up here with her family.
She hated all the noise and the hustle and bustle of CA, but Havenhurst was so much better than LA—so she couldn’t complain. She secured her suitcase with a ‘click’ and slid it into the back of her van before shutting the trunk. Just as she turned around, she came face-to-face with no other than Michael himself.
“Y’all just about ready to head out?” She asked the popstar as he stood there in his jeans and shirt—tucked in of course. For such a big star, he often preferred to dress in casual clothes when on personal time. She’d even accompanied him to the salvation army a few times.
“Y’all?” Michael asked, cocking his head to the side in bewilderment. “Ain’t you coming with us?”
“Nah,” Ebony sighed, leaning against the back of her van. She then jumped at the heat of the metal, causing her to pout. Again, she hated the CA sun.
Michael watched the events before him and simply ignored it. “Well, can I go with you? The guys want to go cruise the town, and I really don’t feel like hearing Marlon’s mouth right now. Apparently, he didn’t like something Jackie said to him, and he’s been whining about it all day.”
Ebony shook her head. Typical Marlon, he always had to be the center of attention. Perhaps that attitude came from being overshadowed by Michael’s talents, but that’s not a conversation he’d ever have.
“Yeah, just grab your things and come on. I’m just going to my apartment for the weekend, the one not too far from Ma’s place.”
Michael just nodded at her and walked back into the dance studio. He grabbed his bag and slung it over his shoulder.
“Where you goin’ Mike?” Jackie asked, closing the cap on his water bottle.
“Ebony is showing me some new place she’s getting. I’ll probably be staying there for break.”
“Okay, I’ll let mother know,” Jackie responded before going back to chatting with Tito.
Michael walked outside, tossed his bags in the trunk and climbed into the backseat of Ebony’s van.
She got in, started the car, and pulled off. Next top, Ebony’s place.
Michael had no idea why people were shocked to see him doing normal things. To him, he was just another person. He never understood why people saw him as some sort of enigma.
Here he was, pictured visiting a friend. Spending time with friends at their homes were honestly Some of the best times he’s ever had. It was just something about the warmth of the typical family home that just embraced him. He forced himself to forget his problems, and be a member of their families. It gave him great joy to just sit around and gossip With the old folks. He would move from talking with the adults, to going out back to play basketball with the Children, to playing videogames with the teens. Michael was multi-faceted—just like any other human.
