Thinking of a pjo awtde au rn where Derlord is a son of Athena but I haven’t exactly figured out who Avery’s godly parent would be (entertaining the idea of it being Apollo or Ares but I’m open to suggestions)

Derek survives the merge because of his godly lineage and neither Der nor Avery realized the other is a demigod throughout sf/dawtde and only find out after due the King hiding that fact from Der so that he couldn’t just.. pray to their parents to deal with him or something, I dunno figuring it out still (and this lack of knowledge kinda pushes Derek to sacrifice himself in Avery’s place since he knows he has a chance of surviving compared to who he thought was just a mortal and Avery thinking the same thing)

Also entertaining the idea that because a god decided to meddle with Atena’s son, she has the rights to pummel the King for what he’s done to her child, the King did not realize how fucked he is for meddling with another gods business. And maybe Avery’s godly parent wants in on this too but since he didn’t technically directly hurt Avery they can’t do anything but cheer Athena on.
