We need to talk more about Ajax's "yes ma'am" to Swan in Orphan Town because I'm unwell about it
little shop of horrors? more likely than you think.
feels like we don't talk about this enough anymore.
feels like we never talk enough about the Yellowjackets in the context of the 1990s either.
for someone like Nat (who was most likely viewed as a "burnout" and "trailer trash" by a lot of her asshole/bully classmates in the 90s) to defend herself with these specific words... it really shows how intelligent, open-minded, and feminist she was (at a time when that would not have been the norm for a girl her age). she really does not get enough credit for those traits in this fandom, and sometimes it pisses me off.

Hunter Natalie please come back home the kids miss you
tbh if i was swan, i wouldāve killed luther before the riffs even got a chance to show up. because wdym one of my closest friends just died fighting for us to get home because you shot cyrus for āno reasonā. wdym my gang leader got snatched up (and is seemingly dead) because you shot cyrus for āno reasonā. wdym one of my closest friends got arrested because you shot cyrus for āno reasonā. wdym every single gang is hunting me and my gang down because you shot cyrus for āno reasonā. and then you blame it on MY GANG????
like now you gotta DIE brotato chip š³āš¾
oh jackie, you would have loved to get this stuff for your dorm with shaunaā¦
My contribution to Laura Lee Nation
that edit of teen lottie tackling people down just reminded me one of my favorite things about her and also laura lee that many people in the fandom tend to forget, the fact they are both defense players
defense is probably one of soccer positions that demand the most from the players physically, and it's very common for the players to be taller and stronger than the rest of the team so that they can stop the other team's attack, help the goalie and prevent the other team from scoring goals
that's truth specially for center backs like lottie
left backs and right backs like laura lee are not necessarily as tall or strong as center backs, but they also can help both in defense and attack, so they have to be a combination of strong and fast
and both positions oftenly foul the adversaries, though, of course, the most skilled players know how to do that without getting a yellow or a red card
so, in conclusion, we have rich introverted-quiet-girl-turned-soft-spoken-cult-leader and sweet bible thumper, and they both could take. you. down. in the field if necessary
Iām your favorite artistās favorite artist. I'm your dream girl's dream girl. And Iām gonna serve exactly what you are,
YELLOWJACKETS 1.06 Saints
i go insane everytime i think about them
you know listening to jane explain laura lee's distorted mindset with her faith & relationship with death. and how they + the directors/writers formulated it with how laura lee sees near death experiences as a way of communicating with god. as well as how laura lee basically sees everything she's been going through herself in lottie, everything she looks for is encapsulated by lottie. not just the search for faith, but the "taboo" (as jane puts it) too...
so, there could be an interpretation that laura lee intentionally drowned lottie (with of course lottie knowing what is going to happen) during their botched wilderness baptism. due to laura lee seeing that as a way of communicating with god because that's how she got the answers, that's how she finally found her faith ā in a body of water, drowning.
then lottie's survival instincts kicked in to over power laura lee's hold as she drowned. now coming out from the tranquil yet eerie peace of her vision into the danger of her reality. what happened was not a sign from god like laura lee thinks. this moment was harmful for both of them and doomed them because they projected both of their delusions onto each other.
they were looking for confirmation within each other for the experience they just went through, but both came out even more damaged.
like yes laura lee dooms lottie here by kickstarting the whole religious association within her visions and psychosis, but lottie also dooms laura lee the same way. she affirms everything laura lee believed in. from the distorted perception of her purpose in life, to what she thinks is going on in regards to faith/death and the power of the entity that god is to her.
this moment basically seals her fate (along with van's near death experience with the wolves & like jane mentioned jackie nearly being sliced by the plane strengthening it) with her getting in that plane.
this entire scene was not only a shared vision of their deaths; it was their shared doom and how they reflected each other (like the water they lost/found themselves in) as a whole ā a true climatic point to their story arc.
(I really liked hearing jane break down some of laura lee's thoughts and motivations to make me think more on this scene again from both of their viewpoints not just lottie ā oh our tragic saints truly).
