i just wanna say that this blog focuses on the fullness of selinaās character. from the effects her broken childhood and early criminality had on her and how that manifests in her adult endeavors. that means that selina kyle is just as important as the catwoman (although that has not always been the case). selina sees beyond the black and white of gotham. she sees past batman, she sees past the criminal underground. i believe that she is one of the first inhabitants showcased to have a full concept of what gotham needs because she sees what gotham isānot just what it takes and she doesnāt care about what āshouldā be. she doesnāt have rules for herself (batmanās weakness), and she doesnāt often lack control (rogue weakness). she operates between the lines of her own ideals, and as catwoman manifests, selina gains clarity. selina begins to outgrow catwoman and pursues justice beyond herself (but still in her own interests. she sees through selina-colored glasses.) the ways that catwoman operates over the years moves harmoniously with how selina grows as a person. i wonāt ignore all of those factors of selina just to write her as a cat burglar. thatās part of her and i LOVE it. but is that the most important thing about selina? no. selina is.
