𝗜𝗧'𝗦 𝗔 𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘, 𝗕𝗨𝗖𝗞𝗬 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗘𝗥 𝗧𝗢 𝗛𝗢𝗠𝗘. not that he doesn't travel, but now his home base is in the heart of the city, he seems to come home after work more often. when he announces his arrival, penny can't help but laugh, coming out from the kitchen to greet him with a long, adoring kiss. ❝ you almost made it sound like we're normal for a second there, ❞ she giggles, pulling back only at the sight of her daughter, poised on the back of the couch, ready to pounce.

it's without warning nor mercy that emma leaps onto bucky's back, little arms wrapped around his neck as she hangs off of him, little feet scrambling to climb up onto his shoulders. ❝ the avengers are under attack! ❞ screams the kindergartener with all the dramatics of a true actress. penny can only laugh, shaking her head at the nonsense.

❝ dinner's almost ready — ❞ yeah, penny is gonna leave bucky to fend for himself while she finishes up cooking. she's taken enough nerf darts to the head in his absence to earn herself the break. ❝ whoever wins this fight gets the first plate ! ❞

a couple weeks of planning this out and this was the BEST plan june could think of. in her mind, it was genius and vulnerable. a little super strength and a metal arm? with her skillset and mutations...she was sure she could take him.

taking on the form of her younger self, the FAUX child stood near the entrance of his apartment, beginning to cry softly with small hands wiping at her eyes. pretending she was lost in the long confusing hallways of this building. he would be here any moment. // @otvechet

her   eyes   were   a   lot   wider   than   they   should   have   been   however   ,   filiz   hadn't   been   good   at   hiding   her   feelings   in   a   long   time   .   which   ...   she   was   proud   of   .   had   swallowed   once   too   often   ,   taken   back   and   ignored   emotions   for   the   comfort   of   another   person   .   never   again   .   she   never   wanted   to   go   to   that   dark   labyrinth   again   .   and   as   long   as   the   amazement   over   the   restaurant   was   all   that   made   her   date   possibly   judge   her   –   then   so   it   be   .   though   ,   bucky   seemed   far   too   polite   to   truly   be   asking   that   because   he   had   an   opinion   of   her   .   "   here   ?   "   hazel   eyes   find   his   handsome   face   again   .   "   no   ,   i've   never   come   here   for   dinner   .   "   once   night   at   this   place   possibly   worth   a   month   of   cutting   hair   .   but   it   was   fine   ,   for   once   it   was   fine   .   as   long   as   it   wouldn't   become   a   habit   .

smile   returns   to   her   face   .   "   i   didn't   expect   you   to   like   fancy   places   like   this   .   i   hope   you   don't   take   this   as   an   insult   ,   but   i   almost   expected   for   us   to   end   up   at   five   guys   or   something   .   "   or   maybe   she'd   just   been   dating   inconsiderate   men   who   were   unable   to   make   plans   .   "   thank   you   for   taking   me   here   .   this   is   ...   a   very   impressive   place   for   a   first   date   .   "   filiz   finally   reaches   out   for   the   glass   of   wine   that   had   been   served   to   hold   it   up   slightly   .   "   cheers   .   "   rosy   tone   to   her   cheeks   as   she   keeps   the   eye   contact   while   taking   a   sip   .

the situation was never meant to be this antagonistic in the first place ----------- but the both of them know how quickly something can shift from just fine to shit in the blink of an eye. ( or in this case, the semi - simultaneous clicks of a half a dozen handguns all pointed at each other. )

now the credit for stirring things up to the point where words felt more like a waste of breath than anything helpful was hers this time around; having to stand there and endure one too many snide comments by their hosts about @otvechet​’s notoriety had gone and shredded what little filter she had left. ( she’d argue it started innocently enough; if one could consider knocking someone’s jaw askew momentarily as innocent. but it hadn’t taken long to escalate from fists to firearms. )

he’s just as annoyed as she is by all this; she can sense it in the tone of his voice once the shouting subsides and his is the one that comes out on top ( the way his jaw flexes isn’t as subtle as maybe he thinks it is in situations like these either ). 

             “let me calm the situation down.” now ------- gun barrels pointed in every direction isn’t going to put anyone at ease; especially when he’s the one with his finger on the trigger, but she’s already said more than enough tonight.

owning up to the fact this is her fault, she mouths a ‘sorry’ to him before her elbow bends and retracts the pistol that had run parallel with his, but it’s only partially true ------------- she’d still punch the guy in the jaw given the chance to do it all again; the only thing she’s sorry about is she didn’t knock a few teeth out for her trouble.

“  and  you  need  to  work  on  the  way  you’re  complimenting  people  .  “  shorter  one  rolls  his  eyes  and  playfully  punches  friend  into  the  shoulder  .  BUCKY  CAN’T  KNOW  .  he  has  to  hide  it  from  him  .  if  from  no  one  else  ,  at  least  buck  shouldn’t  be  worried  .  steve  can  pretend  he  is  fine  ...  right  ?  he  can  make  the  effort  ,  can  hold  his  head  high  even  when  he  feels  nothing  like  doing  so  .  for  his  friend  ...  for  him  .  ᵇᵉᶜᵃᵘˢᵉ  ʰᵉ  ʰᵃᵈ  ᵉᶰᵒᵘᵍʰ  ᵒᶰ  ʰᶤˢ  ᵖˡᵃᵗᵉ  .  and  steve  would  be  the  last  one  to  make  it  harder  for  him  .  “  i’m  good  ,  buck  .  all  good  .  “  lies  ,  with  smile  on  his  lips  and  aching  in  his  heart  .

All Peter had wanted to do today was get home without an incident. True, it probably would’ve been faster to swing home but between accidentally staying out on patrol much later than intended last night and the extra level of exhaustion that came with a still-healing injury, he’d opted to take the train instead. And it’d been pretty much without incident. He’d gotten to spend a bit more time with MJ, get some homework done, and as far as he could tell, no one had recognized him. Well, one little kid had stared at him for a few stops, but he didn’t mind.

But as he walked towards Happy’s condo building, something felt... off. Not an all-alarms-blaring, full-scale-Peter-tingle off but off regardless. Taking off the hood that he’d pulled up to avoid being immediately recognizable, Peter looked around to try and see what- “Oh,” he muttered, pulling his hood back up. God, were Jameson’s photographers ever going to leave him alone? Even the protestors’ numbers at his school were beginning to dwindle but it seemed like the Daily Bugle had one singular focus- Spider-Man.

“Great. Just great.”

In hindsight, John probably should have planned the road trip a little better. But he like to blame the surprise of the situation for causing him to perhaps lose a bit of logic and common sense. It’s not as if everyday you discover that the super soldier who kinda still doesn’t like you is your grand-uncle and your only living family. It made his head go a bit bonkers. The mix of glee and fear and doubt and hope. All of that made him suggest the idea to Bucky and he doesn’t know why Bucky even accepted but now here they were on this road trip. Only John had, in his excitement, forgot to pack the extra tires and now they were stuck on the side of the highway in the middle of nowhere trying to figure how to get replacement tires for their broken punctured ones. 

John looked sheepishly at Bucky, “Well...closest car repair shop is 52 miles away so I guess we could....pull the car there ourselves?” This might be a good time to put that super strength to use.
