Armored Dress. (Woman’s Life in the Armory)
This is from an art project that utilizes an armory and women’s clothing as juxtaposition.
Clothing from the Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo periods, up to the present day, was exhibited on the Armoury’s four floors.
Renaissance fashion is characterised by cone-shaped dresses forcing the body into geometric forms. The corset confines the upper body like a piece of armour. Dresses are stiff and have a strict geometric shape, their surface resembling the metal of armours. +

The fact this isn't a painting is a testament to one of the greatest feats of set design and production I've ever seen.
My god just look at this! The lighting, set design, photography... I've just never seen anything like it.
In the super-8 film Moffitt Building Piece, Ana Mendieta poured (animal) blood and rags on a sidewalk, reproducing a trace of (domestic?) violence in a public place. Using hidden cameras, she surreptitiously filmed and photographed the reactions of passersby to a puddle of what looked like blood and gore, seeping from under the front door onto the pavement. Some look, some poke it with umbrellas, some just walk by. This goes on until the man next door (the storefront window bears the name H. F. Moffitt) comes out to clean it up. The series of slides relating to this film is called Untitled (People Looking at Blood, Moffitt, Iowa), 1973.
Ana Mendieta is a Cuban-American feminist performance-, video- and body artist, sculptor and painter. In 1985, at the age of 36, she fell 34 floors to her death from the window of her Greenwich Village apartment at 300 Mercer Street, where she lived with her husband of eight months, minimalist sculptor Carl Andre. Although Andre was acquitted of murder after a three-year trial, the mystery of Ana’s death and its circumstances has never been resolved.
