so funny to me (heartbreaking) that in like 99% of all timelines somebody has to tell pete that his brother is fucking DEAD.
in Abstinence Camp, the last time Pete saw ted was after Ted kicked him out of his car. When the camp ended he probably was slightly confused as to why Ted wouldn’t pick him up especially with the fact his leg is broken but whatever. And then he comes home and looks around and Ted’s not there, yeah, not out of the ordinary. Then he checks his phone and there’s a billion messages and missed calls and he opens up a link somebody sent him and there it’s is: “MAN FOUND DEAD IN WITCHWOOD” (let’s just say that Shelia managed to throw him in the Witchwood but not far enough so that he wouldn’t be found).
in Workin’ Boys Pete hears about it in TV. Not about Ted specifically but about the actress massacre. He’s more concerned about that, because, if he remember right, Ruth was in that, wasn’t she? When he gets there the cops won’t let him in. Richie’s inside, spots him. Richie is a wreck, sobbing. He’s surprised that Pete knows already, but when he tentatively brings up the singular death in the audience, Pete doesn’t know a thing. He’s brought over to the covered body to identify, and it sure is his brother. And of course Pete is hit by the double whammy that one of his best friends AND his brother is fucking dead. Great day for him.
in Hatchetfield Apeman I imagine that Lucy told him. She didn’t even know Ted had a family so when he finds out he had a little brother, she knows she needs to tell him. Lucy tells Pete all about how good of a man Ted was and how he saved her life. Pete doesn’t really believe it, anything she says. Ted wouldn’t do anything selfless. But whatever, Pete likes this fantastical version of his brother just as much as Lucy does. Just to live a moment in a dream.
(ok that’s it that’s all i can think of. he probably does in hey Melissa but who knows when or if I’ll ever finish that) I heard somewhere (I think here on tumblr) that Pete’s bastard box is having his brother die in every universe that exists and that is GOLD.
This guys hurt my feelings.
