In response to the NSFW ban being enacted by Tumblr Staff, on December 17th 2018 I propose that we all log off of our Tumblr accounts for 24 hours.

Le policy di tumblr considereranno dal 17 dicembre, un capezzolo femminile o un nudo di arte di Klimt alla stessa stregua della pedopornografia. Che è un assurdo evidente. PROTESTA non facendo logon per 24h sul tuo tumblr, non andarci neanche via web. E’ un piccolo sacrificio che può fare molto: queste aziende guadagnano dall’advertizing on line, cioè dalla pubblicità che ti mettono in dashboard e che tu vedi e forse a volte clicchi….non stare sul tuo sito tumblr o su quello di altri per 24 ore manda un segnale chiaro. Dalle 6 am  del 17 dicembre fino alle 6 am del 18 dic. Colpire sul piano economico, è una risposta adeguata e quantificabile che può costringere i vertici  (yahoo e tumblr) -  preoccupati più dei loro incassi che  della community tumblr - ad ascoltare e riflettere. Reblog per  diffondere, la protesta negli USA ha già superato i 220 mila utenti.

I’ve had a really hard time coming to terms with this insane war on nudity. I have, personally, been on tumblr for many years now. During these years, tumblr has seen me at my highest and lowest and it has seen my best and worst work. Most importantly, tumblr gave me a place to be me, to express myself freely, to create and be part of a group, without losing my individuality. Tumblr gave me an incredible group of friends, a sense of belonging and just like that, Tumblr unknowingly created a fun, supportive, amazing creative community. And out of that community, TATA was born.

It is with immense sorrow that I have seen this community die, slowly move into new platforms (that aren’t really welcoming either) and move on and now, ultimately be kicked out in the most unceremoniously manner by this platform that we all helped grow. TATA is alive and kicking and isn’t going anywhere. My goal and dream for TATA was to help people see their work off the screen, get published and now we need a place like it more than ever. Your support and love in the past years has meant EVERYTHING to me and I cannot express how grateful I am for it.

Dressed-up Common Sense

Dear friends and followers of my main blog,

After almost a week of harrowing failures and cursing, I eventually managed to move the content of this blog to WordPress; I suppose that is a new beginning, as long as there are no restrictions concerning nudity in photos. I’m not sure I can keep up with two blogs, perhaps once in a while I will post here a link to share my recent posts on the new platform. I’ll also try to pop in and check out the remaining blogs of my friends, but we can’t be sure what this place will look like after the new terms of use are in place.

Hope to be able to stay in touch with most of you after December 17, feel free to add your alternative online presence in comments on this post.

Art is supposed to challenge you. Art is supposed to make you think. When art is censored, the art makes a different statement. A statement of what is socially acceptable and what isn’t. The censored parts are deemed dangerous to the public and become demonized/shameful to put on display, to talk about. Coincidentally when censored those parts become the focal point of the art, in which the viewer has no choice but to notice. When I create with my body, my intent is not to illicit a sexual response, instead I am trying to have a discussion about strength and vulnerability. Yet this is lost when censored. Nudity isn’t inherently sexual and sexuality isn’t inherently bad. Tumblr take ownership of the power you have to free people from unnecessary shame. The shame to talk about, the shame to show, the shame to feel comfortable in our own bodies. #Choosepeopleinsteadofprofits

With all the upcomming changes, Tumblr will not be the place where I post my pictures in the future. 

Thank you Tumblr for beeing my virtual home over the last 6 years. Thank you all my lovely followers for all the support, likes and comments.

Over the last days I had a look at different communities and even though it’s not perfect I think that Ello will be my new place to host my pictures.
