saw a video about a singer who canceled the fireworks show at her concert because she noticed that a stray dog was quietly watching her performance and she didn’t want to scare him away and maybe maybe there’s still hope for humankind
❝ Brazilian singer Taty Girl left her fans speechless during a concert when she made an unexpected decision: she suspended the fireworks show she had planned to protect a homeless dog who was attending the show. While singing, Taty noticed the presence of a dog she named “Caramelo,” who was calmly watching from a distance. Without hesitation, she told her audience: “We will not launch any more fireworks, Caramelo does not like them. Out of respect for him, we will not use them. You can see that he is there quietly, enjoying the show.” Taty’s gesture was applauded by the audience, who not only admired her sensitivity, but also suggested that she adopt the dog. According to reports, the singer listened to the voices of her fans and decided to take Caramelo home, ensuring him a life full of love and care. ❞ Vía 🎥 tt/tatygirloficial”

btw this isn't a Trump Bill this isn't Trump's Fascism this isn't new and unprecedented. this bill (sponsored by a california dem) is actually a reintroduction of a bill previously introduced in 2024 as HR7832 when it passed the house but not the senate. senate border act of 2024 (S4361) which died in congress (also sponsored by a dem btw) also outlined $170M for ai surveillance towers, $47.5M for surveillance drones, $25M for tunnel detection, among other things in the name of 'combatting fentanyl.' this legislation was strongly supported by the biden admin and was literally the border policy that kamala ran on as one of the cornerstones of her campaign

Did your guys parents use olive oil on your hair as kids or was that just a Palestinian thing
Coconut oil for every day and in winters mustard oil. I don't think, growing up, I even saw olive oil in the market.
Oh dang for real? Are olives less common in india?
Not grown here at all, until super recently! The first olives were farmed in 2007 in Rajasthan, and were imported from (obligatory shoe throw and spit) Israel.
I try to check where the olive oil is manufactured when I buy the expensive imported stuff these days, but because bottling often happens in different countries than where the olives are cultivated, its hard to tell. I haven't been able to find Palestinian olive oil for sure :/
WOW that's is. So recent.
I don't really know where to get olive oil, whenever we visit my family in Amman they give us two wooden crates of homemade olive oil to use and even then we usually run out eventually and use sultan olive oil. Do you have this brand?
There's also Ziyad which sells olive and other levantine foodstuffs that we usually buy from the araby grocery
I don't think these are necessarily palestinian but I definitely don't think they're Israeli at least.
Haven't seen those brands in the local markets but India's a big country so who knows. Mostly I see Italian-produced stuff. Del Monde etc.
For fancy (expensive) hair oil, almond or apricot oil is also great, and produced locally within India.
Did your parents add stuff to the olive oil when they used it for your hair? There are all kinds of recipies to enhance hair oil that have been passed down from various aunties to me, ranging from adding onion skill to dried hibiscus.
You know it's been so long and I've had a pixie cut for such a long time that I completely forgot but I'm pretty sure she did put other stuff in there. Sometimes she'd switch out the olive oil for baby oil but that's the only thing I remember.
They put the young men in a large pit and opened fire on them..!!

Scientist bakes sourdough bread with yeast derived from 4500 year old Egyptian pottery
i'm losing my mind @ this thread......historie......
also please note that this scientist is in fact the retired man who invented the xbox.
oh fuck i listened to a podcast that was interviewing him and the process he went through to make this bread, ologies with allie ward like he went through full on clean room levels of prep to ensure that this was 100% yeast from old egypt and had to bend over backwards to ensure everything involved was uncontaminated he then revealed that the original xbox logo...
is a sourdough boule

This is what happens when you’re still on tumblr as an adult, you start reblogging shit like this
Thousands of people gather in Al-Sabeen Square in the Yemeni capital Sana'a, led by Ansarallah, to protest against the attacks on the country, on March 17, 2025 in Yemen. Yemenis also reacted to the ongoing attacks on the Gaza Strip by chanting slogans.

Annoyed at both US and Canadian liberals acting like Canada is an oppressed Global South country that is under the boot of US imperialism and full of progressive revolutionaries when it's actually one of the wealthiest countries in the world and an enthusiastic ally of the US in its imperialism most of the time, and when it isn't, it has its own imperialist and colonialist projects, especially mining, both in the Global South and on stolen Indigenous land within so called Canada - don't even get me started on how reactionary Canadian settlers are either, and it's not just the white ones born here bc a lot of non-white diaspora and immigrants are just as nationalistic and hate both Indigenous peoples and the Global South, even if their families are originally from the latter.

thinking about that kakapo egg that got crushed but the conservation team patched it up and it survived
life will persist against all odds
For those who don’t follow kakapo conservation, they are critically endangered parrots who only breed on years where the rimu tree they rely on meet a certain threshold of fruit production. One breeding season in 4 years can be typical, and about half of all eggs laid by kakapo are infertile (they still aren’t completely certain why, it could be a recent population bottleneck) so each fertile egg is worth its weight in gold.
This was one of only 5 fertile eggs laid on the Whenua Hou island population in the 2014 breeding season and it got crushed by its mother on accident. It was mended with glue and tape and incubated by the rangers until hatching.
At 150 days old kakapo chicks are officially added to the population total and given a unique name, until then they are given their mother’s name and a number for birth order laid in the clutch. This chick was known as Lisa-one before officially being given the name Ruapuke by local indigenous Ngai Tahu people. Here he is grown up:
It’s sad when a species is so rare we know them all individually but at the same time I love that you can point at this one bird and say oh that’s Ruapuke, his mom sat on him too hard
