Sunday Night Showdown
Sports Commentary by our resident sports junkie Raymun Kohli,
The preview of what could be this year’s Super Bowl 47 begins this Sunday night in Week 15. Tom Brady and the high powered offense of the New England Patriots host Aldon Smith and strong forceful defense of the San Francisco 49ers. What makes this game even more interesting is the fact that the Patriots are the number 1 offense and the 49ers are the number 1 defense in the NFL. This game will be determined by the key players that can claim victory for either team.
Let’s start with the Patriots and their offensive core. I believe the key factors for the Pats winning this game are with their flex option players. Danny Woodhead has been a huge factor for Brady when it comes to creating big plays on short catches. He will have put up good numbers against the 49er D to help create points for the Pats. Another sleeper pick player will be Brady’s old teammate from his super bowl days Deion Branch. Branch recently signed with the Pats after Dante Stallworth was put on the injured reserve list. Branch can open up holes with his speed in the middle and help other offensive players become open for catches. If these key players perform well the Pats will be victorious.
The 49ers are a vicious defensive team ever since Jim Harbaugh became coach last year. The key factors for the 49ers to pull off an upset are to create turnovers against the Pats offense. The D line of Aldon and Justin Smith will be crucial to pressure Brady to create sacks and interception opportunities for the 49ers secondary. Also linebackers Patrick Willis and Navarro Bowman will have to contain the Patriots Tight End Aaron Hernandez and make his job difficult to catch the ball. With these key factors the 49ers will shock the world and take down the Pats at home.
My prediction:
San Francisco 49ers: 23
New England Patriots: 20
