Perhaps he should have known that. Perhaps he should have seen the signs. Perhaps heâd seen signs that simply werenât there. It would be just his luck, wouldnât it?
Yet the moment his name left her lips, Qrow felt like someone had shoved Harbinger into his chest. It was a deep, sharp ache, like a scar that was reopened--and in a way, it was. His tribe, his sister, Summer, and now Libra. Four times the wound was opened.
At least he still had a use for Ozpin.
Qrow withdrew his hand and immediately went for his flask, taking a long draught. He didnât seem to react to her words, at least until she cried out. âHey, hey. Donât sit up.â He was proud that he could keep the hurt from his voice. She didnât need it, hurt as she was. âForget I said anything. Just eat, all right?â
Qrow hadnât realized just how deeply into her heâd gotten until he was certain heâd lost her for good. He should have known otherwise, of course--he knew of her so-called curse--but even heâd started to wonder if she could keep coming back if her very body gave out. When she hadnât been in Mistral, heâd feared the worst.
But now she was here. She was here, she was real, she was with him--he could see her, feel her, breathe in her scent and hear her voice, and gods he needed to taste her lips again--
He took in a deep, shuddering breath as he fought to get control of himself again. Her fingers at his back helped, so much. Letting a sigh, he looked up at her again.Â
âLibra. We have the relic... and thereâs no good news.â
qrowbrcnwenâ:
âLucky, sure. But itâs bad enough as it is, and no aura-healing for you.â Qrow sat himself at the edge of her bed. He held the tray steady as he did, making sure it didnât spill over.
Her question made him smirk. âNah. They got enough morale without me at this point. Besides, you think Iâd have as much fun down there without you? I got my own drink.â He pulled out his flask, brandishing it for a moment before taking a swig. âMuch better company up here.â
âOh breaking out the flattery now?â She winces and works on lying back down, âSo charming- youâve won me over, watch me swoon.â Libraâs attempt at laughter really turns out as a hoarse little wheeze and she sighs and settles back in comfortably.
âI donât think Iâll be much of a good looking or fun lay tonight-â she muses with a smirk, âseriously, go party with them downstairs, Iâm going to sleep and hope the pain wears down by the time Iâm up.â
Qrow laughed with her at first, but that laughter faded into a frown as she continued. He looked to her from where he sat. âLibra... is that really why you think Iâm up here?â he asked carefully. âI know youâre hurt. I know you wouldnât be up for that. Thatâs not why Iâm here at all.â
One hand reached out to run over her hair. âIf you really want to sleep, then Iâll go. But Iâm up here because I want to be. Iâm up here because I genuinely find you better company than whoâs down there. Libra, I...â For a few moments, he paused, his hand stilling. â...I love you.â

The turn of events was nothing but a miracle honestly, first a shelter when it was desperately needed as a blizzard was rolling in around her, second she had found the reason sheâd come out into this snowy wasteland! When sheâd been approached in Argus by some students seeking help in getting their friends back after the train accident.
But beyond that, sheâd found Qrow! He- well honestly he was worse off than she had seen him in years, but he was alive and here and at her hands! Gods she hadnât realized how much she had missed his company, his presence, even his scent, gods realizing how much she had missed him caused her pain. Smiling, Libra curls more around him, arms wrapping tightly around his head that heâs got pressed into her chest as he clings to her.
âQrow-â she whispers into the darkness, tears welling in her eyes, âQrow, gods Qrow Iâve missed you so much. So, so much!â
Nothing short of a miracle, indeed. With everything heâd seen that day, Qrow had needed a long, hard drink. As soon as they were inside the farmhouse, heâd pulled out his flask and took a long draught, trying to get as drunk as possible before raiding the former ownersâ collection.
It was enough that heâd passed out on the couch. He intended to sleep the whole night, hoping that any nightmares would pass him by completely if he was still mostly drunk. But he was woken again when the girls were shaking him excitedly.Â
And then he saw her.
The moment Qrowâs eyes landed on his lover, he felt almost sober again. He stumbled toward her, stopped for a moment before her, and then finally fell into her arms again. His own curled tight around her waist, clutching her as though she were a rescue buoy. Tears were even beginning to form.
âLibra... gods, Libra, itâs you. Itâs really you,â he muttered, shaking his head. âWe--we were told you were dead... Iâd almost lost all hope...â

Itâs strange to hear the sounds of celebration as muffled as they were, this inn was really built out of sturdy materials. Absently she thinks about telling Orion about this place- heâd like to know construction notes that nerd. Trying to move causes her to wince, pulling the tree shrapnel out of her stomach had left some terrible pain behind.
But itâs a small price to pay for peace to return to this town, and hey her and Qrowâs help in all of it got them free room and board for their travels here. Good thing because with almost getting a shotgun round to the stomach their trip just got a lot longer. Blue eyes close as she gets comfortable against the sheets and waits patiently, knowing Qrowâs drinking habit it might be a while before he came back with food for her.
Yet, surprisingly, Qrowâs footsteps came sooner than expected. They paused to fumble with the room key, and it may have taken a couple tries to get it in the keyhole, but he finally succeeded and swing the door open. Sweeping up the tray heâd brought with him, he strode into the room, looking down at Libra.
âRoom service,â he teased, and held up the tray for her to inspect. It was mostly soft, easily digestible food; not a whole lot that would make her sick while she recovered. He set it down in front of her and moved to sit beside her. âHow you feelinâ, Lib?â
âCould be worse-â she winces and hisses as she pulls herself into a semi sitting position so she can actually eat a little, â- all things considered. I got lucky that he missed his shot.â
She picks some bits of bread apart and eats slowly, careful to keep crumbs out of the bed, âyouâre not down there celebrating with them? Big kingdom Huntsman probably boosts morale I bet.â

Libra is content to hum some song off in the corner for the rest of the night by herself, but some affection is always welcome.
Qrow is more than happy to give her some, flopping down beside her and draping an arm around her. âHey, Lib. Mind if I join you?â
âJoin me birdy~â she purrs, pressing her side against him, âyouâre always welcome here.â Once sheâs settled again, Libra resumes humming.
Shifting his position a bit to partially face her, Qrowâs arm tightens around her to keep her close, resting his head atop hers. As she hums, his eyes close, and his free hand finds one of hers to entwine their fingers.

âCerulean is my wedding date from now to forever its law, sorry Qrow. This is why you shouldâve worn the tie.â

âHey!!â Qrow crosses his arms. âThatâs not fair. I donât ever wear a tie, and youâre gonna punish me for that?!â
Libra is sticking her tongue out at him. Whoâs the child here again?
âOh, come on...â Sighing, Qrow relents. âFine, put the damn tie on.â

She could correct him, tell him how heâs wrong, man did she not teach him or Blake anything? Instead she opts to just lean against him as he holds her and hum softly. Cuter lovebirds than these two? Nah.
He wouldnât even care if she did correct him, honestly. Heâs just happy to have her back, stroking over her hair and listening to her humming. Having her here is always a treat that he can never tire of.
âIâm back whereâs my damn no longer canon husband?â
âRight here.â Qrow slings an arm around her with a smirk. âWhat, you think I really went anywhere?â
âNo because I couldnât get rid of you if I tried to.â Promptly she tucks her head under his chin.
